  1. Playland in Vancouver...The 50 year old woodie with insane ejector 'out of your seat' airtime. Never have I ridden any coaster with airtime like it. It's also the last coaster of its kind standing (Carl E. Phare coasters have all been scrapped but this one). I guess the best way to describe the airtime is similar to jackrabbit at Kennywood? (never ridden jackrabbit, just going from what people say)
  2. Guess it will become a racing coaster then... it's really difficult to do a dueling layout hence the reason why it ended up more as a racing. Seems like the peeps prefer the blue side more than the red side. Well it makes sense cuz the blue side turns out to be more intense according to the charts. Here's a lift hill shot.
  3. My first attempt at making a dueling layout...Not the best. I was originally going to do it with woodies but instead I changed my mind and did it with standups instead. As you can see, when you make a dueling layout you have to basically built both sides at the same time to make sure it works out. I can't even rememver how many tries it took for me to get it right. There's the track layout. I had to mess up quite abit of the ground. You can also see sorta a "headchopper" section on the blue track right before the helix. Here's a shot of the peeps riding through the underground section on the blue track.
  4. Oh I know why now. That's because I'm watching Survivor and the Amazing Race on CANADIAN channels. I noticed all the commercials during the breaks are Canadian commercials. Even though both those are American shows, they're being broadcasted on Canadian stations.
  5. Yeah those are basically the "sardine cans" i'm talking about. The ones with the pointed front that you basically can't even lift your arms up on. Another reason for describing it like being in a sardine can. P.S. I don't even eat sardines.
  6. Atleast it looks better than the Arrow "sardine cans" that old Boomerangs used... Seriously it feels like a sardine can in there! Are Flying Dutchman's like that too? Anyone else feel like that?
  7. Well I guess I"m being biased again as I've only been to CW 4 times my whole life. I've seen people get away with the camera thing before... But emptying your pockets I've never seen. And what I was talking about Vortex is that they added seatbelts to Vortex which takes extra time in loading. Exact same ones added to Corkscrew at CP I believe.
  8. It's pretty cool to see parks outside Canada and the US I'd say. I've been to a theme park in Thailand, was a pretty unique experiance. Was the Boomerang any good?
  9. Since I wanna ride Chang, I might as well want to ride the other coasters at SFKK.
  10. I see no difference between CF and Paramount to be honest. To the OP, Canadas Wonderland and Kings Island are pretty much your only options if they have to be within driving distance of Detroit. Valleyfair, Kings Dominion, and Carowinds are all pretty far away. Probably too long drives for what you'd want. Well when I was at CW last year summer, I heard an op say some "cedar point-esque" thing like "If you can't secure yourself you cant ride". And I also saw an op ask someone to "empty EVERYTHING out of their pockets and put it on the side" just because he was wearing pants with big pockets. He actually was trying to sneak a camera onto the ride (to film a POV perhaps?) and when he "emptied his pockets", the ride op made him put the camera aside with the rest of his stuff. Back when before CF took over, I never saw anything like this... And also, my cousin from Toronto told me something about "Vortex takes forever to load now".
  11. I'd say Canada's Wonderland but that's biased because its the only CF park I've been to. I've also noticed that since CF took control of CW, their rules are alot more stricter now. CF is pretty strict I'd say.
  12. I kinda have the same problem with being short too. I remembered on Vortex at CW I had to grab the side of the train to make sure I don't trip trying to get in either! I wonder if the Carolina Cobra's new trains (as well as all new Boomerangs and SLCs) will be better for anyone on the "larger side" and eliminate all the typical "Vekoma-ness"
  13. Oh I don't watch that show. I used to watch Survivor and The Amazing Race but I don't remember any Mr. Six commercials..
  14. Lol probably because I'm canadian so I don't get to see Mr Six on TV (and I don't watch american channels much except today, the swearing in of Obama).
  15. Batman the ride at SFOT. The new trains look like a knockoff of B&M flyers lol
  16. I'd say Behemoth too, but I had my eyes closed so I didn't get to enjoy the view although the airtime was good. I've never taken a front seat in Behemoth...I don't think I will for awhile due to my fear of heights...
  17. Good ol' Mr Six alright! My aunt in Texas even remembers Mr Six from along time ago. When I was on the phone with her few days ago, I asked her if she remembers old skool style Six Flags (before rides started making her sick) and she started talking about this "funny guy who used to advertise Six Flags on TV" or something like that. Nice to see he's returnin'
  18. We only have 1 here in BC... Playland. The one featured in Final Destination 3 (love that movie!) and Cats and Dogs 2. The park i believe is like 100 years old but rides have come and gone throughout the years. Our latest major coaster added was Corkscrew (relocated from Boblo Island) in 1985... Our other big coaster, Coaster (a qualified ACE classic) just celebrated it's big 50th birthday last year. It's the last Carl E. Phare coaster still operating to this day. Seriously playland needs a new major coaster or BC needs a new major amusement park... The closest thing we have to a a permanent amusement park is like Crash Crawlys (kids fun center with a jungle gym and mini train ride), Burnaby Village Museum (a museum witha historic Carousel) or Castle Fun Park (Go kart track, arcade, bumpercars etc, but no coasters). From where I live: Playland - 30 minutes away West Edmonton Mall (never been): about 2 hrs by plane away Fun Forest - 1 hour or more away Wild Waves - 2 hours or more away
  19. I thought it was just for asthetic reasons or strength reasons at first... Anyone else thought that? Especially the asthetic one.
  20. You just reminded me to start losing weight too (I'm like borderlined between normal and overweight). Well most boomerangs and arrow/Vekoma loopers run with the old arrow "sardine can" trains... Yet to see the new boomerang trains. I seem to find most OTSR's uncomfortable but perhaps that will change after my first B&M invert in March. I plan to ride Nighthawk someday and I hope it's as tight as the other Vekoma's I've ridden.
  21. Corkscrew (Playland), Hanging Coaster (Dreamworld Bangkok), Flight Deck (Canada's Wonderland), and Silver Streak (CW). All have been a tight fit especially Silver Streak! I have a friend who's claustrophobic and he says he can never ride Corkscrew at Playland (the above mentioned Vekoma Looper) for that reason...Or any ride with OTSRs. So basically i'd kinda say, if you have claustrophobia (which I used to) don't ride Nighthawk because of the whole "full body restrait" deal I'd say. I find arrows abit more forgiving. I've ridden Vortex at Canada's Wonderland and I didn't find the fit a problem at all. Infact I can even put my arms up completely! The only B&M I've ridden, Behemoth, had no problem with other than being stapled on it. TOGO's, I'm not even going to go there... I've never found lap bars to be any problem. Except Behemoth (but I was stapled anyways). Probably because I'm so short... As for my weight, I do eat alot (I'm guessing that's the reason as I don't have any disorders as far as I'm concerned)
  22. Batman and Robin was plagued with technical difficulties hence it was disassembled. I'm hoping some park could buy it of SFGAdv and then fix it up and get it in good working condition. I even had a dream one time that my home park (which REALLY needs a new coaster badly) bought it and fixed it up to working condition and re-themed it and it was instantly the most popular ride in the "I guess you can call it a park".
  23. Defunct coasters I wish I'd ridden before they got scrapped: - Batman and Robin: The Chiller (both sides) - XLR-8 - Flying Super Saturator - Super Big Gulp - Zillerator - Giant Dipper (Happyland/former Playland) - High Roller (Stratosphere Vegas) - Drop of Doom at WEM (dont know if it counts though really)
  24. Satchboogie I've ridden Behemoth myself. It's a really intense ride and the next generation B&M "staggared" seating really gives you a good view. It's my first and only B&M (that will change after I visit SFOT). The first drop even got some good airtime even if you get stapled. The whole ride is like 3 minutes long but it doen'st even seem like 3 minutes! I'm obsessed with that coaster lol
