  1. Compounce is my favorite traditional park. BoulderDash is great (be sure to stay until dark!) and New England isn't a bad park itself. Bizarro is without a doubt one of the best steel coasters out there. Great Adventure is my closest park. Even with El Toro and Kingda Ka, it's not a favorite place of mine to go. I'd vote New England trip for sure. Stop at Quassy and ride the mouse while you can!
  2. The ride op in your pic of Big Dipper was there a few weeks ago when I rode. COOL guy. We did some runthroughs. Glad to see the Flyers up again. They were SBNO last I was there.
  3. I'm planning to do Coney Island next weekend. Does anyone know if Sea Dragon is back up and running in Columbus?
  4. The area is safe. I've ridden the N and Q trains after midnight on the way back into Manhattan and it was still safe. Take in the famous Cyclone a few times. Experience the back seat. Experience the ever comfortable third to last seat. Rerides are cheaper than deciding to come back. (And you get your choice of seating) Go over to Deno's and ride the Wonder Wheel. If you're after credits, Deno's has a kiddie coaster. Go stuff your face with some Nathan's hot dogs. You'll have decent weather tomorrow to just walk around and check it all out. It's somewhere to explore.
  5. Is it freaky that I went to RCDB tonight and this is what came up?
  6. Where were you sitting? Comet provides some great air time up front! Storm Runner was obviously running, but you didn't get the credit? What was the line like. Was Roller Soaker down?
  7. The Tobaggan is beyond repair, I understand. I heard a rumor of Lakemont buying it for parts. A lift chain alone costs about $10,000!
  8. They're done. For good. I'm not sure if there's actually anything wrong with those 5 cars sitting idle in the middle. The reason they are parked there is because the ceiling has a hole in it above them. They are disabled there so you can't drive under it. When I stopped at the park last year (closed), the bumper cars were eerily parked just as if the park closed the night before. The group of 5 wasn't in that spot then. You can see where they are parked (and have their electric connections removed) now since the park has reopened.
  9. Devil's Den was open last weekend when I was there!
  10. The ride op was extremely adamant about the "No Adult" rule.
  11. In one day, 32 runs on Big Dipper at Camden Park, 28 of those on consecutive trains. Absolutely no crowd, and after driving ALL the way there, might as well make the best of it!
  12. Thanks, doesn't help much.
  13. Read that thread and still can think of a few. CoasterCounter now lists the Least 100 Counted Coasters out there. Lots of overseas stuff. The Goliath Jr. (Percy's) credit is tough I understand. How many have that?!
  14. "Rare" -- Didn't think to search that word Thanks!
  15. I've searched this and didn't see a thread similar... What are the most sought after Coaster credits? Most of course are kiddie credits, except those ones which were down more than up (Pocono Lightning). Puyallup Fair/Stricker's Grove are more difficult to obtain just due to the annual availability. Kiddie Coaster at Rye is most likely the most difficult wood credit. What are some of the most difficult credits to obtain? (Current coasters out there)
  16. I am over 12 and had a great time. There is always something special about traditional parks beyond a coaster to ride. I saw at least 2 couples who were walking around the park who appeared to be in their 70's. One could speculate that they have wonderful memories of this place and were so happy to see it open. I live more than 6 hours away and would go back if I remotely have the chance. As I said, Blue Streak is their heart and soul and they know it. Can't make it happen overnight. There is still plenty to do there.
  17. I decided to stop at Conneaut Lake Park on the way home from Mania this weekend. At the very least, I figured that another customer was good for the park's finances. I was able to meet the two gentlemen who are running the park and rides right now and got some good news from them and some info. Got to the gate right as Security was opening up at 1PM. Inside the park, it looks clean and most rides were operating. A few small changes and some good news in store. Manager Bob Lisko was working hard fixing anything that was broken; Including this water rescue on the boat ride. Little Dipper is still running good Devil's Den darkride was up and running. Knowing it was closed up for 2 years made it a little more spooky! The Midway still remained mainly closed but I was told new stuff was going in each weekend. You can still see the remnants of the fire. Tumblebug was running (and looking) GREAT! [Hi Kid Coaster 2!] Music Express is on the way OUT...Gravitron on deck!!! Tobaggan is on the way OUT... SkyDiver is IN behind the Tilt a Whirl Decent crowd along the beach and lake Flyers looked and rode great! The good news... A ride inspector will be at the Park Thursday to let the Lisko Brothers know what exactly will be needed. Rumor is that it is not in as bad shape as presumed. Lumber has already been donated and if the inspection goes as expected, 4 men on the job could have the Blue Streak up and running by Labor Day. They understand that the Blue Streak is integral to the park's success and want to have it running by the end of this Season! These guys are really good, dedicated people. The brothers currently have several carnivals out during the week and they spend their weekends at CLP. They will be out today tearing down and setting up for their next carnival, and will return next weekend to open the park and make more upgrades. From what I understand, the Board of Trustees are less than helpful in getting this park operational. The Lisko's are the ones doing all the work, and they need support. All of the donations were not going to Ride Operations, but rather the Board's funds to support the neighboring campground. If you want to make a donation, you may do so at: Conneaut Lake Park Personnel Office 12324 Comstock Street Conneaut Lake, PA 16316 For ANY information: 814-213-0003 or liskoentllc@zoominternet.net Stop by and enjoy a weekend there. It was a very slow Sunday when I stopped, and they will definitely need more business in order to continue to operate. Opening weekend was good, but it died off! Thanks to everyone there for such a fun filled day at a very magical park! Good luck!!!
  18. "This thing ain't safe." -- Cyclone, SFNE Friend 1: "What keeps people from falling out?" Friend 2: "Science." -- Bullseye, Camden Park
  19. Cool project, but already needs an update... Pocono Playpark is now coasterless.
  20. Had no trouble with the "kids only" entry there. As previously noted, you can show an ACE card for the price of a senior ($9.95) I believe they've seen their fair share of credit whores. Freeway Coaster is the one that should be called the Tree Top Racer
  21. Thanks Larry. Would you suggest it as a good day to go then? Could I get on everything fairly easily? I haven't been to GAd since I was much younger and have alot I'd like to ride. Don't want to deal with LINES!
  22. So, how crowded? Go on Season Pass day, or during the week of the 13th-17th?
