*** THE BEBES *** Rainbow Magicland ITALY TR

You made me spit a little of my drink on my keyboard from the LOL. Well done! -
..And once again my attempt to not look like a moron in pictures has failed miserably! Also, I just wanted to say: If you’ve ever wondered if tagging along with the BMRS is really as fun as it looks, I can assure you it is! I had a great time slaying Mike’s Voyage virginity! Let me tell you, Big Mike can ride. A single lap on The Voyage can easily wind even season veterans, but even on the third consecutive ride the big man kept his hands up the entire time! I’m still bummed that we didn’t get to Plunge, but that’s kind of been par for the course so far this season. I hope I was a suitable guide through HW for you guys. It’s my home park and I like to think I know all of its ins and outs. I also had a great time meeting/riding with Adam (Spaceace12), Jared (Reon), Craig (IggyACE) and his son Gage (Iggyskid). I gotta give a special shoutout to Gage. Not many 6th graders could so seamlessly blend in with a group of (mostly) middle-aged men, but he did. He was no wallflower when it came to the conversation or riding either. I was impressed. And Craig said something while we were waiting in line for The Legend that really stuck with me. He said, “A lot of people make the mistake of thinking this hobby is all about the coasters or the rides. Really, it’s more about the people you meet and the people you ride with.” He’s right on the money. Because even though it was great to ride with some fellow TPRs, I had an even better time just getting to know them and talking non-enthusiast stuff with them. Thanks again guys. So for anyone on the fence about tagging along with Big Mike for the day (or just a TPR meetup in general), don’t hesitate. You’ll have an awesome time!

Knotts Berry Farm Advice
Emiroo replied to X2coasterfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes, all of them can (and have) gotten stuck at the top of the top hat. Though if you want to really nitpick it, they aren't getting stuck by anything. They're gettting balanced by gravity. -
...but I'm almost never playing anything. My 360 has pretty much turned into a dedicated DVD player.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

I guess a lot of acers will never get to ride it then... -
Edit: Sorry. I misread your post. I thought you were asking for a dedicated site instead of just a thread. I like my original response enough to leave it. And a thread such as the one you described could get very messy. But I guess a Coaster Classifieds could be cool... Enthusiast like us would enjoy such a site. However, there aren't enough of us to ever make such a venture profitable so it will never happen. Frankly, I don't even see how Robb generates the $$$ to keep TPR running. He has said it costs about $1000 a month to keep it up. It's ad free so he has to support it though the TPR Store. I did my part and bought a shirt, but there's still only so many of us around and eventually the money we spend won't be enough. I for one, publicly support turning TPR into a paid site. $20 a year gets you into the "club" (complete with membership card) and we could intern use that club status to get into special events and discounts at all sorts of parks. And just for the record, you can buy TPR DVDs on Amazon.

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread
Emiroo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah I wouldn't get too excited about the missing T2 train. One train has "gone missing" for the past two seasons. I always get excited about it, but the train eventually reappears. I bet it's just routine maintenance/cleaning. Which I will further speculate means no new trains for T2 next year, because if they knew they were getting them, why would they bother working on the old ones? -
SFMM Newbie here with an easy question: Is the rotational program on X2 the same everytime or is it random? I know there are switches on the trackwork that tells the train when to rotate, but does it always rotate the same way? If it's not random, do you think it would be that difficult to adjust the computer to do so (Kind of like Disney did with Tower of Terror)? Do you think it would make the ride better or worse?

How to Make Kids' Trips Even More Special
Emiroo replied to Emiroo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't wait to try this one as well. One of my plans is to pick an early season day in May while the kids are still in school. We'll all get into the car and drive like we are going to school and then blow right by it. SURPRISE! We're off to the theme park (or wherever) ON A SCHOOL DAY! Of course, we will have called them in "sick" and have a bag of their things stashed in the trunk. I think the element of being naughty and playing hookey will make it even more fun for the kids. Of course it does set the possibility for future complaints of, "Do I have to go to school today? Why can't we go to (the park)?". But I'm sure we'll be getting those no matter what, so if we're going to have to listen to them anyway we should at least get the trip. -
I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed.

Listen to this dude Rufus, he knows what he's talking about. When the pain hits (and it will), you'll want the pills that instant. My Mom did the same thing as Dan's and waiting the hour for her to get back with them was agony. Do yourself a favor and get someone to pick them up right away so they are available as soon as you need them. -
Word up everybody. I was just talking with a co-worker who just got back from a week at Disney. She told me of an outstanding tradition that I am going to adopt. She has two boys (like me) and during every vacation they take, each boy gets an entire day where they get to pick everything the family does. From where they eat breakfast, lunch, dinner to what the activities for the day are. She said that one of her sons picked going to the waterpark over any of the other parks and even though they had just spent most of the day there a two days earlier, they went back and stayed until he made his next choice. I can see some potential infighting between siblings if one doesn't like the other's choice(s), but I think it would still work nicely since the other(s) know they will get their turn too. I can only imagine how special and important this made her boys feel. I can't wait to give it a try on mine when they get older. I think it will make an outstanding tradition. I think I'll probably use this some even when not on vacation. What are some of your tips/tricks/ideas/traditions to help make your kids' vacations even more special?

I lost most of my interest in baseball after the 1994 strike. I still enjoy attending games but I don't "follow" it anymore. That strike killed me because I was a huge baseball fan before, but that whole situation turned me off and eventually away.

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread
Emiroo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't love SFKK, but I do like it. I think the general problem with it is that it seems to be a "patchwork park" that adds/removes things randomly without appearing to have any sort of long-term plan. I'm sure this is not the case, but watching some of their choices over the last decade has been difficult and painful. Here's some of my suggestions for the place: 1. I think their first priority needs to be reopening Mile High Falls. It's an outstanding ride and is desperately needed back in action. You guys know how hot Kentucky summers are and the park needs as many water rides as possible. Blizzard River is excellent, but more is needed. 2. Repaint T2 and give it the new SLC trains. Obviously, I'd rather them tear the thing down and put in a B&M invert, but we must think realistically. SFKK needs T2. As much as you or I might not like the headbanging, T2 is a signature ride at SFKK that does draw in the GP. It was first in the nation, and some extensive TLC is long overdue. A new paint job could also make it pop and brighten up the area. 3. For the love of God, rip out the Dragster upcharge ride area. It's unreliable at best and a total ripoff at $20. Anything else would be better. As someone else posted, this spot seems to be custom made for an impulse coaster, but I don't know if Six Flags has the cash to buy/move one in there. But honestly, I'd rather have a 3 point game there than those dragsters. 4. With regards to Twisted Twins; get busy livin' or get busy dying. It appears that they are going with the latter, but they need to do something. Anything. Extended SBNO rides just leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth and tarnishes an already fragile image. My choice would be to take it out and put in a GCI or perhaps Eurofighter. 5. Come up with a plan for Thunder Run. Even with lots of rehab, I can't see it surviving another 10 years. It's just tearing itself apart. It's a shame too because it used to be great. It has a great location in the park and takes up a good area. I hope when the time comes, they take it out quickly and install a suitable replacement. It's easy to "hide" TT because it's in the back. Thunder Run however, is pretty central and I doubt you'd get away with just throwing a sheet over it. 6. Install a high visibility "all-star" flat. IMO, the tragic Lassiter incident couldn't have happened on a worse ride. S:TOP was SFKK's top flat and it's visibility across the park (and from the highways) was outstanding for the park's image. As much as I'd like to see a Drop Zone or Power Tower put right back where S:TOP used to be, it will never happen. The spectre and stigma of the incident is too strong. I still have GP friends who won't go to the park because they don't think it's safe anymore. I think the best choice would be a giant frisbee or something extremely similar. Again, a top end flat that you can see from anywhere. 7. Finally, there is probably the single most important thing SFKK needs do. Six Flags management needs to come out and define it's long term plans for the park. It needs to give everyone a sense that it cares for and has goals for the place. They should say, we plan to add X coaster(s) within X years. Expand X section with X rides. Heck, they could say, "We're moving out the rides and going waterpark only." I don't really care. I'd just prefer to know the strategic plan. Even if it doesn't come to fruition, at least we know they had thought about it. Right now, it almost feels like management sees SFKK as an afterthought. A bastard child dumping ground if you will. It's sad, because SFKK is actually one of the more profitable parks in their portfolio. I first went to Kentucky Kingdom in their opening year (I need to post a retro TR on it.) and it's been interesting to experience and see all of it's ups and downs since then. The park has a solid foundation, but just need a little more vision and a bit more priority when it comes to capital expenditures. Until then, I guess we'll all have to hang in there and hope for the best. -

I've always wondered what this one was like. Thanks! How was Prodigy? And I would give my eye teeth to have seen Orbital there back in the day...
