Damn! I know I should've gone on this trip!! -
"Tiny Planet" - Like them or not?
OldJJman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Once in a while it's cool (because of the GREAT quality), but I do prefer the standard approach. -
I've been to a few parks, so this was difficult. But... Top 5 Parks 1. Tokyo DisneySea Best park, best theming, best patrons, best collection of rides, great food and LAVA MONSTER!!! 2. Port Aventura Great collection of good rides. VERY fond memories of PA. 3. Europa Park Mack showcase park, and they do an excellent job! Very close to Disney quality, and an incredible collection of rides. 4. Liseberg So much awesomeness, in such a small park!! Absolutely wonderful place!! 5. Everland Ok. Not the greatest park, patrons or even food. But, T-Express is awesome and if Eagles Fortress was still in operation, it would rank in my top 3 (of over 1000). Honorable Mentions to my home parks: Disneyland/DCA (3 miles from home) Top 5 "Bucket list" parks (in no particular order) Gröna Lund Hansa Park Mirablandia Shanghai Disneyland (but 2 days max, China..... not my favorite place!) Tivoli Gardens Honorable Mention goes to Ferrari World

Favorite Arrow Coaster
OldJJman replied to CdnbMatt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Eagles Fortress. Puts every other Arrow in a subcategory. Honorable mention to Tennessee Tornado. -
Wow! I, like others have said, was a bit (ok, VERY) skeptical of how good Pandora may, or may not, look like. Seeing the photos and videos, I'm pretty much blown away. I didn't understand the size of the floating mountains until the pics from underneath, and the video of the guy walking thru. This seems seriously impressive!!! And, knowing how much Robb and Elissa have a certain disdain for "simulator" type rides - their high endorsement of the "Banshee" ride, speaks VOLUMES!! Never thought I'd say this - But, I'm REALLY looking forward to your next media day report!! JJ

New Roller Coasters in the RAW Blu-Ray Poll
OldJJman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As I much as like love them (the blu-rays), I think I've moved on from the physical media. -
Yeah, what Elissa said. The repetitiveness of the game, without any (enjoyable) rewarding content, is annoying. The dialogue this time around is also pretty damn lame. Pretty much time to move on.

I was fighting that a bit too. However, the more you craft, the more you get the MAG points, which increases your level on the construction yard, which offers more things to craft. But with the added MAG points, those awards produce more jobs and more film. It's almost a vicious cycle, but I've started looking at this approach as I felt I wasn't keeping up with the pace of the game. (However I did check my sources and I'm actually a bit (3 days) ahead of the projected timeline). So, honestly, I do think crafting is the way to go, as the awards pile up, you'll be able to eventually craft those things you really want, in an easier time frame. (And thanks to my keeping up with the monorail crafting, I have raised enough donuts to get Dr. Hibberts Island, which gave a crapload (540, I think) of MAG points.)

For those of us that are still playing: I finally decided to check the usual sources for additional helpful info. Obviously, the more stuff you craft, the higher up the ladder you get. The coffin in this update is different from the one in the past. Instead of a pop-up ghost, it has a zombie in it (and yes, a shadow of things to come). The addition trick-or-treaters are: Ralph, Rod, Todd and Dolph. And perhaps most important, there are 4 characters that give an additional 200 film every 4 hours. They are: Boobarella, Suzanne the Witch, Space Mutant and Count Burns. Hope this helps a little.

West Coast Bash 2016 Tickets On Sale!
OldJJman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I, also, would like to thank Robb and Elissa for another great event! They are so good at this, that they always have contingency plans in case something falls apart. (And quite often it does!) I am surprised that people still have doubts, and question them about every detail. After doing 10+ international trips (amongst many others) with them, I just send in my $$, show up on time, and have a great time!! It's really that easy! I wasn't able to attend SFMM this year, but there was no way I'd miss Knott's! As expected, check-in was smooth and a truly great day was in store. Saw, and caught up with, quite a few people that I haven't seen in some time. Notably: Guy, Dan, Joey, Bill and a few others. Did the GR tour in the morning which took us to an area I had yet to see. Which was basically all around the helix and under the "drop" back in the door on the left of the exit ramp stairs. I can't remember the gentleman's name who gave the tour, but he was completely entertaining and very knowledgeable about every aspect of GR, and took the time to answer everyone's questions. Now if we tour the storage track and shop next year, I could then say I've seen all of GR. Lunch was good, and as always the highlight was the Q&A session! Lots of hilarity ensued. Somehow, Elissa managed to get 2 or 3 old jokes in there. (sigh) The random questions were awesome, especially someone who had a gallon fetish, and the best answer - "more than one". The nighttime tour of Iron Reef was really cool, as we walked through the attraction, having the projections and car movements explained and then into the main computer room. It was quite fascinating, and I really enjoyed it! Finished the night with 13 rides on Ghostrider. The cool air, and the newly refurbished ride made for a great ERT! It's probably been 10-12 years since I rode that many times in one day, much less an hour. I had a GREAT time (as expected) and wouldn't hesitate to do it again!! Thanks go to Knott's and their warm, friendly, and funny staff, and of course, Robb & Elisaa - who just do it right! -
This is probably the first event that I really don't like, and have NO interest in. It's too much like the stupid sporting event (baseball/soccer/anything) that I failed to come even close to finishing. So, i'm just collecting $$$ once every other day or so. Interest in this event is absolutely zero. Then again, I think I'm the only one who loved the "Whacking Day" event. Go figure.

A little more info - once you finish the Googolplex tasks, you're awarded the "Homerlayas" with Homer already carved out (provided you're at level 61). BTW - There are no quests at the designated levels. You're just awarded the next carving in the "Homerlayas". Since I finished:

Alright. Here's my understanding of what's going on now. If you've noticed over the last couple of days, there have been a couple of updates. Those were just bug fixes, tied into this leveling up I'm talking about. (Some people had a 40,000xp/level. Now it's corrected at 500,000/level.) As far as the game ending - NO. The first pic below explains why they technically "stopped" at 60. In essence, it's to help new players enjoy all content as it is released. Now - leveling up will get you quests, dialogue and new content. But, it is expensive in game cash. I spent about 130 million and am now down to 20 million. Before I tell you the fastest way to do it, here's what you get (besides 1 donut for every time you level up. I added 879 donuts by leveling up. After that, you get the standard 1, 2, or 3 donut guessing box.): LVL 97 Quest for Bart head in the Springfield Mountains. (Think Mt. Rushmore w/ Simpsons)(pic below) LVL 137 Quest for Lisa head LVL 200 Some kind of Homer dialogue (possibly for head) may also be connected to LVL 223 and/or 350. LVL 419 Quest for Marge head LVL 742 Quest for Maggie head LVL 939 max Even if you get to LVL 939 like I have, you still have to complete all quests in order, starting with the Googleplex line. (Which I have not yet completed) How to level up quickly: First, you need a lot of in game cash. I'd say 20mil+ minimum, to make it worth your while. Second, you need the XP Collider (makes ALL the difference) Third, you need a large set of undeveloped land. The more you have, the less time it will take to do, and time is of the essence while doing this. Now, spend 5 donuts and activate the XP Collider for 24hrs. Now go to the build menu, find the miscellaneous category, (the lady liberty looking icon) and find the "Rat Trap Truck" ($150,000) Buy as many as you can and put them on the undeveloped plot of land. The XP starts flying. I'm not sure of the exact specifics, but I think you'll level up 2 times for every 3 trucks purchased (or something like that, I'm not really sure). Leveling up is now set at a CONSTANT 500,000xp. It does not increase anymore. Now, sell back all the trucks you just purchased. (You get $37,500 for each). You can do it fast by holding your finger on the screen till the blue dot appears, highlight as many of the trucks as you can, then hit the dollar icon to sell them all back at the same time. Once your land is clear, just repeat as much as you feel comfortable. Though I wouldn't dip below 10mil, as we have no idea what's coming in future updates. Hope that helps everyone. Any questions, just ask and ill find an answer. [Edit to add] The updates may not have been related to the glitch in leveling up, as someone noticed that the XP is set at 40,000 for levels 61-100, 500,000 for levels 101-939 And 1mill for everything past 939. The game will go on!! Mt. Simpsons (aka: The Homerlayas)
-
No more "level" updates, per sè. If you bought the googleplex, you'll notice that movies can't be watched until you hit these higher "levels". There will still be content and events. I'm at work, but I'll explain tonight. Btw - level 939 is the highest level, and is the supposed area code for Springfield.
-
Well, I just spent the last hour leveling up to the max level - 939. I made about 870 donuts along the way! It IS NOT a glitch!!! It does cost about 120mil of cash (I had a little over 150mil), but it can be done. I will explain later. I have to go to work. Repeating - it is NOT a glitch!! It is possible!
-
Finished a couple of days ago. Just waiting on the daily rocks, the donuts and whatever that question mark is hiding.
-
New update this morning. But - I'm ignoring it till I get my 5 donuts from the monorail.

Instead of posting a separate TR, I'll post my thoughts here, as I attended the opening day ceremonies as well, as a normal paying customer. (And my pics would do no justice) I will preface this by saying that I have only seen parts of the first two movies, so I am really not a HP fan by any stretch of the imagination. Nor have I been to see the Florida version. I tend to avoid most spoilers, so as to not raise or lower any expectations I may have. Bought my tix online so I could get in on the posted early opening of 7am. Got there about 6:15 and walked straight in the park. After a pretty cool (and short) opening ceremony about 6:30, the area and land were officially open to the public. I must say that I was quite impressed with the detail of theming that went into the whole area. Extremely high quality, with great sight lines and a great background of a cloudy gray sky, just made a grand statement. (Though I do admit that seeing CitiWalk looming behind the back end of Hogsmead was a slight letdown.) Passed on checking out all the shops until later, and got in line for Forbidden Journey. The queue was quite impressive, but not as immersive as I had envisioned it, but impressive nonetheless. I did find myself staring at a couple of stained glass windows to see if they would transform into something else (ala Dueling Dragons when IOA opened.) but it never happened. The line did move at a quite steady pace, and we were on in just under 30mins. The loading was quick and efficient. I will admit that it was a really fun ride. Not being a Potter fan, the story was hard to follow, as it is told and experienced, in a very fast manner. The motion and movements between scenes were fairly smooth, and kept you in the center of the action most of the time. Unfortunately, *I* feel that a couple of the scenes could have been drawn out a little more, as they felt like they were rushed, trying to cram in as much as possible. A couple of views of the roof panels and overhead walkways were a bit of a distraction. I did ride again a few hours later and felt pretty much the same. USH also implemented a very effective crowd control flow plan that seemed to work quite well. Essentially, you pick up a "fastpass" type ticket with a time stamped on it. You may not enter the land until that time comes up, but you can stay in the area as long as you wish. I think that really helped, otherwise the area may have just turned into one giant mosh pit. I think it will be quite interesting to see how the crowds will be this weekend. Overall, I think it's quite an incredible addition to USH, and is definitely a crowd pleaser. The theming of the ride, and whole area in general is absolutely top notch!! I also have NO DOUBT that this addition will be a HUGE cash cow for them!! I would imagine that the revenue generated by this area, will lead to a much more in the future. I also enjoyed the rest of the park while there. Had a great day, and was on the road home by 3:15. Shoutout to Joey for the hospitality! Thank you! JJ

Yeah, I even found some in the middle of my house farms. But, I'm already done with this one, as I have the fire station. Just running through the tasks now.
