  1. Technically, winningfreak and I will be there though And it's always nice to meet people from the coaster sites.
  2. I'll be there too. Also working however What department do you work for? I'm a ride op in Fiesta Village Feel free to stop by. I'm the guy with a name badge that says "William" and has glasses
  3. But, those are still less powered than most JJCs Yeah, their virtual, but do you really count a virtual coaster as a credit in the least?
  4. Same here. I haven't ridden either type. I'm more excited for the Eurofighter though. Seems like those have better elements.
  5. That looks awesome! NOT. I can only imagine how the supports are for the banks and what not.
  6. Maverick at Cedar Point And only two from my homepark (SFMM), but not part of thread, so won't say
  7. Unless I'm mistaken, isn't that not defunct, but simply located in another park? Doesn't it have some Star Trek theme now? EDIT- Yep, not defunct: Nighthawk
  8. I've done a good bit for not riding much: Soap Box Derby (Knott's) Windjammer (Knott's) Big Dipper (Geauga Lake) Villain (Geauga Lake) Double Loop (Geauga Lake) Psyclone (SFMM) I want to say I have one more, but can't think of it rght now for the life of me.
  9. Grrr. This pisses me off. I mean yeah, we joke about how stuff the GP can be, but two very similar accidents happening this close. But, I wonder if parental raising had anything to do with it. Or more like, lack of it. I mean really, did they have him play in the street as a baby. Your dealing with fast, large objects in both cases. Apparently, I hope he doesn't die, but I hope that gave him a good reality check.
  10. I was terrified going on Venom Drop at SFMM's Hurrican Harbor. The fact that you don't see the middle is really freaky. And yet, I went to Ragin Waters in San Dimas this past weekend and Drop Out was scary, but I was just kinda nervous
  11. ^Dude, greatest coasters in their gene? MF is good, but it's gene isn't exactly big. How many giga coasters are there in the world anyways? I've heard the other ones are better, this one is just the first. And Mantis is not the greatest of the Stand Up coasters by any means. But yeah, that is what's great about CP, is there are so many different rides to choose from, you'd have to be trying to have a bad ride experience in order to ruin your day
  12. ^Can you not get it through your head that people didn't make it out to be terrible (unless you're refering to GP). They all just kept saying it's not the best ride on the planet. Stop saying we said it was terrible.
  13. OK. This is kinda getting weirdly annoying with all the talk about Mantis and how much it hurts. I went last year to CP and rode Mantis. I personally hated the ride, but that was because my head is kinda lumpy in the back, and the head rest bulges out, so I couldn't keep my head back against the headrest because it hurt too much. This caused my neck and head to hurt as I had to fight the restraints from slamming my head around like a pinball. At that point, I just wanted oof. I mean, I was to the point of crying, but because of my own personal problems, not the ride. Heck, I love its brother coaster out here in California (Riddler's Revenge). Everyone's body reacts to coasters differently. For example, a lot of people black out or get tunnel vision on Goliath (also at SFMM). For most of my rides on it, I didn't, but the more recent rides have had me getting tunnel vision. My friend, however, never even feels disoriented after riding Goliath, and he's twice my age.
  14. I only said Mantis sucks because I have a bit of a weird shaped head. I have a bump on the back of my head that even makes it uncomfortable to sit against walls. So, for Mantis, the headrests bulge outward and seem to be rock hard, so I had a massive headache. As for the sitting down thing, I've rode Riddler's (brother coaster to Mantis) several times, from sitting down almost entirely to standing up and not touching the seat. I have neever had uncomfortableness of the boys, except when wearing baggy type clothes. My legs usually hurt more than my boys.
  15. I searched and couldn't find anything on the topic. My inspiration came from a certain member asking about Mantis and if it will hurt downstairs. Now, I know with a number of rides, the seat can really nail you. What's the worst or most surprising one? For me, I'd say Pony Express at Knott's. It's not a very big kick, and the pain doesn't last, but that brake run is hard enough that all the guys on the coasters unanimously moan It happened to my train and the train after. Didn't stick around, so not sure if the pattern continued.
  16. So, what'd you do? Is there a post in the other forum with a PTR?
  17. ^That's exactly what I was thinking. I mean, yeah, it's not PERFECT, but the angle is, what, 3 deg from completely horizontal. I think even Werner Stengel would be laughing if you said the cobra roll wasn't an inversion due to less than 10 degrees of "imperfection."
  18. But then you can also eliminate the cobra roll from Hydra since you don't go completely upside-down in it (and most cobra rolls). Heck, for that matter Norwegian Loops aren't inversions either, nor Immelmans, nor Diving Loops, nor a lot of elements that aren't straight up loops or corkscrews. It's all up to the park to determine what it is. Huh? How do you not go fully upside down on a cobra roll or an immelman or Norwegian loop. You go through a circular motion that takes you from vertical, to upside, to vertical. You just confused me a ton. And, for the count, I don't think Riddler's Revenge's incline loop, nor Silver Bullet's overbank are inversions
  19. I'm a steel lover. B&M and Intamin all the way. But, I do have my list of woodies I want to ride, which includes The Beast, El Toro, and Tremors. Every woodie I've ever ridden has hurt so baddly that it wasn't fun. I mean, my list is Ghostrider (OUCH!!), Psyclone at SFMM (ouch!), Colossus (fun, but nothing to it), Mean Streak (new meaning to a scream of pain), Villain (Hybrid ouch), and Big Dipper (my legs hurt to badly for words). I've probably just had bad experiences, but I also believe I am part of a new generation of people. Not only do I not care for Classic rock, but I don't care for classic woodies. Of course, I respect all enthusiast's opinions, as long as your respecting mine as well.
  20. That would be best. The two rides you need at Knott's are Xcl8tr and Ghostrider.. the others should be only if you have time. How would you know? You said you've never been there. For the record, Ghostrider sucks balls. Xcel is fun, and Pony Express gives a good little kick. Montezooma's Revenge is a hidden jem too. And notorious my butt. Ride crews are good there, and unless you have personal experience, don't say things you don't know.
  21. Yep, I'm like most, Scream and Viper are the coasters with the most inversions for me.
  22. Ooh, how about "Steel Roller Coaster"! Generic and straight to the point. But really, I think perhaps Venom Or Fangs. I'm serious.
  23. ^Ditto. Knott's has a good staff, and usually seems pretty upbeat. I think someone just had a bad visit.
  24. Maybe we'll get on of those for 2011 at SFMM (You know, to catch up on the coaster race). But, then again, will Six Flags purchase them? As for the new trains, I like the design. I haven't ridden them, but they look nice, plus, it shows that B&M isn't stuck in a phase of complacency. They're still trying to enhance the experience and are doing that by working with train design (much like Intamin and Vekoma are doing). I hope more designs like this surface!
