  1. Another tip, this puts more pressure on your legs during the ride but if you ride with the bicycle seat a little low so it isn't pushing into your crotch, it's way better in my opinion. Exactly, many people don't realize the bicycle seat (even though it is called a seat) is not meant to be sat upon. The coaster is a stand-up coaster and you need to stand-up straight the whole ride.
  2. Isn't the theme of Midway America and "classic midway"? All classic midways used to have a dark ride.
  3. I think the main question was how the modern day farm themeing played into the story. I think the issue is no one has ever heard of this legend before. I'm a pretty big history buff and never heard mentions of the Thunderbird tribes of the northeastern parts of the US. How would a pilgrim even know what a Thunderbird was if it was isolated in Northwest US/Britich Columbia area indian folklore. Over thinking this just a bit? Not at all. The park prides itself in being the first theme park and even bragged about last night. Then they announce a the name for their biggest coaster and it is complete stretch for the Thanksgiving area. I'm excited to see if the ride delivers but think the name makes no sense.
  4. I'm sure they all did. And they all went, "Oh sh!t." I'm sure they watched it an cheered that they would still have the most intense coaster in the area and for a lot less money. If only they could keep it operational all the time. I do agree that Lightning Run (which I have ridden) will be better than Thunderbird. But to the GP, Thunderbird looks far superior and if they have to make a choice between the two parks, Thunderbird is going to draw them to Holiday World. Remember a lot of park attendees, and those that spend the most money (family with young kids) don't have a choice and are going to the closest park. I'm sure the thrill seekers in Louisville have been going to Kings Island and Holiday World for years anyway. Louisville is practically the same distance from Cincinnati as Holiday World. KK does not need to compete with HW in the same same that it doesn't need to compete with Kings Island. There are enough people in Louisville to support the park. If KK does something sufficient with the Twisted Twins plot in the future they should for fine. Sure as an enthusiast, I was bored as hell at the park last week, but I really enjoyed Lightning Run and Thunder Run was running good.
  5. ^It would have been a much more appropriate name. You piss poor attitude is turning into ignorance. SkyScrapper finished in the Top20 of Mitch's Steel Poll last year for a reason. I do not recall one person on the 2012 TPR China Trip complaining about it; I seem to recall most people raving about it. I don't understand why you think the hype is based solely on POV when 50 members of TPR rode the coaster. The ride was very forceful (or at least it was when we rode it) and enjoyable. Back on topic, I'm not going to judge this ride based on a POV, I base my opinion on rides. True B&M doesn't have the most intense portfolio of late and wing rider are not favorites of the enthusiast community, but parks commission coasters for their clientele. Enthusiasts represent a very small percentage of park goers.

  8. Sorry, we can not support a first time poster who joins the site and posts a link in order to help win a contest.
  9. Bear in mind, crowds can be heavy on $.50 days. I waited more than 30 minutes for Wooden Warrior
  10. NO, Not a good idea. Cyclone isn't leaving SFNE, and if was why rebuild this coaster? I don't think Cyclone would fit in Wildcat's footprint. Cyclone is not a coaster to showcase. If you are suggesting removal of the Haunted Graveyard, that would be ludicrous.
  11. Thad - you might be an idiot, but you have a long way to go to catch up to the stupid things TPDave did on a TPR trip. That include the stupid things TPDave did to miss a TPR trip. Thad - you might be a closet nerd, but did you ever have a conversation with TPDave about coaster brakes. As one of your two-week friends, I approve of this Photo Trip Report. Thank you for NOT including pictures of any airports and planes.
  12. I think Wiegand was the only manufacturer of these coasters until Alpine Products built the one in New Hampshire (I could be wrong). Wiegand used to have a list of all their installations on their website, but I can't find it any more) ADG does not have a large portfolio of Alpine Coaster installations. I really don't know who else builds them, as I've only looked into the North American installations.
  13. You did miss it! It's right on the boardwalk facing the water. Your ride vehicle is a coffin. Sorry Martin, all the kiddie credits in the world don't make up for missing a great ride that you were less than 50 feet away from.
  14. Most of the North American Alpine coasters are from Wiegand, including Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster. ADG purchased Alpine Products a few year ago, and their two existing Alpine Product coasters are at Attitash (New Hampshire) and Camelback (Pennsylvania). ADG is building this one in Ober Gatlinburg
  15. If he was lame enough to not know about Rehoboth Beach's Haunted House, he probably missed this one also.
  16. Thanks Garet - I'll look through it this weekend when I get home. Thanks Mike - And looking forward to your thoughts on it also. I think your kids will love the park.
  17. Take out the question mark and you'll understand me perfectly. If the accident did not happen previously this would probably not even be a thought. No I did not, but neither did you. I choose not to make one sided speculations and am just trying to point out the other side. You are using the word huge to describe the likelihood of such an accident. I am using the word huge to describe the type of damage that can be done to the human body by an object flying over 100MPH. Agreed, the more likely chance for an incident to occur is if something falling on the Drop Tower riders from above. That has been neutralized by the shield when riders are loading and unloading. However, that shield only protects the riders before they start moving vertically. If the rides were run simultaneously there would be a greater probability since the shield would not always be protecting the riders.
  18. Well then you might want to take your head out of the sand. If you combine the loose item incident that happened on Dueling Dragons at IOA with the Kingda Ka accident you could be looking at serious injuries. If you fail to see that as a "possibility", even if a remote possibility then I can not help your ignorance. In this day and age even if the chance for severe injury is virtually impossible, municipalities and/or lawyers are going to legislate and suggest change to make it completely impossible.
  19. Six Flags screwed themselves by not knowing this kinda stuff before opening or even building the ride. How do you not know your own state's regulations when youre in a business like that? So True! Even if the rules weren't clear you have the case of a specific ride that "flung" parts at 100MPH. Why would the park think that running the rides simultaneously with the potential of launching a loose article at 100MPH at someone be acceptable.
  20. Was at the park today at opening. Went straight to El Toro and waited from 10:30 - 10:50 for it to open. Rode 8 times without getting off the train, then two more time. Then to Bizarro for a walk-on. Then to Zumanjaro for a walk-on in the single rider line (around noon). Walked to the other side of the park stopping for SkyScreamer (one cycle wait) before a Batman:The Ride walk-on. However, Nitro closed around 12:45 (sign at the entrance, and the attendant, told me so). I waited about 15 minutes but no movement of trains. Not sure if it was anything major as I left the park shortly thereafter.
  21. When I rode it last week it was running better than it has for me since 2010 and that covered about 7-8 different visits. Was really pulling forcefully over the hills and hops.
  22. Horrible news, because there are horrible people in this world. And the exact reason why I think it is creepy to "borrow" a child you don't know to ride a kiddie coaster.
