  1. We travel quite a bit, and here are just a couple of things we do to save a few bucks. We use Hotels.com to book our hitels. They always have sime kind of decent deals, and every 10 nights, you get a free night. When traveling east or anyplace that has a bunch of toll roads, it's worth it to invest in an eazy pass. Not only will you save $$$, but it's also faster at most toll plazas. It's without saying that season passes to park chains like six flags is another way to save a ton of loot. Add in the dinning plan if you can as well. The dinning plan will save you money and time for not having to leave the park to eat. Most park chains have a payment program as well. Another thing you can do is, months before your trip start buying gift cards. This is a good way to pay for some of the costs ahead of time. Every state has a McDonald's, so that's a good one to get. Gas cards can be a great thing, but just make sure that they have locations along your route. If you are visiting an independent park, check to see if there are any online deals. Some of the smaller parks have an afternoon pass that could be half the cost of a full day ticket as well. Club TPR has a TON of discounts on park tickets, and the cost of joining is much less than what you can save on tickets in a lot of classes. The only downside to buying tickets in advance is the weather factor. So just be careful and check the weather in advance. If your visiting multiple parks in the same chain, a refillable drink cup could save you tons. Six flags has drink cup holders on most of there ride platforms, so you don't have to get a locker for it. Cedar fair parks will more than likely make you get a Locker. If you don't drink pop, most parks will give you a free cup of ice water at food stands.(except for adventureland). One last thing about hotels. It is almost always cheaper to stay at a hotel that is not near the amusement park. So if you are traveling to several different parks, it can save you $$$ if you stay 20 miles down the road.
  2. We're planning on visiting the park this June, and have not been there since Six Flags ran it. We are bringing the whole family, so just a couple quick questions.... Does the park offer any type of parent swap program? And what's a good plan of attack to get the park done in one day? Thank you for any advice.
  3. 1 Killed, 6 Injured in ferris wheel accident in India [May 28, 2018] A 10-year-old girl died instantly after a Ferris wheel car unhooked at Anantapur of Andhra Pradesh strict, India on Sunday night. Six others including three children were also seriously injured in the accident when all occupants were ejected. The girl who has been identified as Amrutha, had gone to the local fun fair organized at a junior college. The six injured children have been admitted to Anantapur general hospital, their condition unknown. Eyewitnesses claim they had noticed that the bolt was loose and alerted the wheel operator but he failed to act quickly as he was apparently drunk. After the accident a mob of locals caught the operator and assaulted him. He was later rescued and handed over to the police. The district administration has ordered a probe into the accident. My heart goes out to the girls family . With that being said , does anybody think that this ferris wheel was going WAY to fast? Story from "amusement ride accidents".
  4. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but the violations could have been something as simple as an additional exit sign or something so miniscule. It's all speculation untill we see the infractions. This type of thing happens in all types of businesses. We used to run a haunted attraction during October, and had to jump thru all kinds of hoops with inspectors. We had a clearly marked and lit exit door inside our attraction, but they also wanted us to paint exit arrows on the grass outside of the exit. The exit spilled directly into a grassy field with no obstructions. Another example was the tent we used for the attraction had the fire certificate in a waterproof sleeve on the inside of the tent. That was unacceptable to them. They wanted it sewn to the inside of the tent. That's just 2 of the so called"major" violations" we had before they would allow us to open.
  5. I can tell you that we visited this park last year, and unanimously agreed tgat this park needs help. The only park of this park that was in really good shape was the water park. Look at our trip report here... http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=75041&hilit=2017+mega+coaster+trip
  6. Anybody see the cool Fascination display in the Pagoda gift shop?
  7. At the park now and it doesn't look as if steel vengeance has ran most of the day, and as soon as I scanned my pass to enter the park the skies opened up. Oops...double post
  8. At the park now and it doesn't look as if steel vengeance has ran most of the day, and as soon as I scanned my pass to enter the park the skies opened up.
  9. I thought this guy was taking a....... nevermind... Lol...i was thinking the same thing.
  10. Interesting development... Fred Grub from RMC, was just seen walking around the racer. Photo is courtesy of Cedarpoint history.
  11. Thirsty pony has some great wings, beer menu, and all kinds of good eats.
  12. Actually, the pass and membership prices are not bad at all. Plus, you can use the pass at all six flags parks as well. I think we pay something like $6 A month per pass.
  13. Few questions about this park. We are planning on visiting in june, but after looking more closely at the park i am questioning if it's really worth it for "us". We have 2 kids that are 3 and 4, plus a 12 year old. The plan is to spend half a day at this park, and go over and spend the rest of the day at six flags great adventure(We have six flags season passes). We can get discounted tickets for sesame place, but it would still cost us around $200. I was looking at a map of the park, and it's really not big at all, and noticed that over half of the park is water attractions. The kids are not really into the water slides yet, but love the amusement rides and sesame street. With that being said, is it really worth spending all that money, or am I missing something? Also, we are visiting Busch garden Williamsburg on the same trip, and noticed that they have a sesame street area in the park as well. Thanks for any input.
  14. Some people just can’t take a joke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Some people just can't take sarcasm.
  15. New paint on all rides? Have you seen the Georgia Scorcher? I agree about Georgia scorcher. But 1 coaster out of 500, is not a fair comparison.
  16. I've never been to a carnival that has 3 top 10 coasters.
  17. We just booked a hotel by the park. Closest hotel is about 9 miles away. I am baffled by this. Such a large park, and no accommodations.
  18. But on the other hand, six flags has El Toro, kingda ka, nitro, and several other good coasters. They are both great parks for different reasons.
  19. I think the point of them re- acquiring the park was to brand it a six flags park. Sells season passes...
  20. I'll hold off on buying tickets untill the deal is final. Never know if six flags passes will work at the park this year.
  21. Did six flags own frontier city at some point?
  22. You never really know what crowd levels are going to be, as there are a lot of factors(weather, schools, ect). Obviously weekends are busier. I typically wait untill I get to the park and judge the crowds before buying a fast pass.
  23. Looking forward to returning to this park in june. Last time I was there it was a six flags park. One thing I'm bummed about, is that they got rid of 3 very unique rides...u.f.o, raging seas, and ranger.
