  1. When I was planning out ticket prices on Saturday it was $125 for 150 tickets. Steep, but was gonna do it. Just went over to buy them and now they're $175 for 150 tickets. Incredible ripoff, no piers for us on this trip. Shouldn't cost $12 to ride a flat ride or a Vekoma. Went over to PigDog for dinner (which was great) and there were maybe 15 people riding rides on Mariners. Will gladly drive up to Ocean City for the evening. I understand why Moreys isn't selling wristbands, but jacking up ticket prices by 40% on an uncrowded week day is uncalled for in my opinion.
  2. I mean...it is. But in comparison to Moreys and Seaside where the rides cost 2-4 more tickets each and then you have to buy way more tickets to start getting a "discount", it doesn't hit quite as hard. In fairness to Seaside they have (expensive) wristbands every day so if you're planning on riding a lot you have that option. At Moreys if you didnt buy a wristband preseason you're screwed, although their wristbands are pretty expensive anyway. Guess you can't go to the shore expecting Knoebels type prices lol. That said, I did nothing for 4 months and it's way too damn hot to go to Great Adventure and stand in long lines so I don't mind paying more for a more fun beach side experience with less crowds.
  3. On the ride down to Wildwood I stopped here today and I have one question...why haven't I heard more about this place?!? The ride lineup is a total home run...honestly I'd argue the variety of what they have makes them real close to rivaling Moreys for best shore park. The way they fit so much into a small area is insane. Gale Force...wow. I've never really seen it in top steel coaster lists but it's definitely now in mine. Launch isn't much to write home about (compared to a regular park...for a tiny place behind an arcade, it sure is) but then you go right into crazytown on that top hat. The ejector air at the top is crazy enough and then going beyond vertical on the drop gives the entire hill a good 3-4 seconds of ejector air. The 2nd hill gives some Steel Vengeance-esq ejector by outwardly banking the turn into the drop. The ride shakes quite a bit near the end but not terribly bad. The 2nd lap was just the cherry on top. After El Toro and Nitro, it's the 3rd best coaster in New Jersey. Sometimes hitting the star attraction makes the rest of a park feel dull, but not here. Wild Waves puts up a fight against the old High Speed Thrill Coaster at Knoebels for best kiddie coaster. Fun amount of air pops along the course. Whirlwind was like the roller coaster version of a Tilt A Whirl but didn't spin all that much. The flat selection here is just as amazing and they have every square inch filled up. Squadron 33 felt like the modern day answer to the Skydiver. Not quite as easy to control the spins but you can go across the bottom, upside down and pull some crazy negative Gs. High Seas was similar to a regular portable log flume but slightly different. Nothing special but fun. Ferris Wheel looks unassuming until they start running the Pirate Ship next door and it looks like it's going to plow into you. My first time on an Air Race and it's a good time. The bouncy ride (forget the name) was much more intense than a typical Kangaroo ride, almost nauseous coming off it. Double Shot tower was great as usual and getting two rides for one was nice. Best part about this place is that it doesn't break the bank. Got all those rides on $45 with a few to spare at the end. Most of the rides are 4-5 tickets instead of 8-10 like Seaside and Moreys. This will absolutely be a must do stop everytime I go to Wildwood, just can't believe I haven't really heard much about it. On the way down I also stopped at Seaside for the first time. Had a good time although not nearly as good as Ocean City. Skyride was closed unfortunately. Hydrus, Pirate's Hideaway, Shore Shot, and the Ferris Wheel once each ran me $35. Passed on the indoor Scrambler (8 tickets...WTF?). Hydrus fits nicely on that pier and is a fun ride but short. The Pirate Coaster was very boring but not as terrible as my low expectations expected. If you have time then it's worth stopping for an hour...but if not then go right to Ocean City, without passing go and collecting $200.
  4. Miracle is answered...Zoom Phloom is open today! Now to try to avoid going broke buying tickets due to no wristbands.
  5. Slightly off topic, but does anyone know the status of Casino Pier and Castaway Cove? Looking to get on Hydrus and the Worlds Greatest Pirate Coaster and then Gale Force and Wild Waves. I know Castaway Cove is only open 6-11 (which is fine) because their employees were "passing out from wearing masks in the heat." If the coasters aren't all open I'll probably just skip both but Ive always wanted to stop at those places. Also any other places I should know about on the shore? Not looking for kiddie coasters or looping Pinfaris but anything else good?
  6. Thanks, didn't see that when i was clicking around earlier. We'll miss the flume for sure (unless by some miracle it opens in the next week) but more time for It is a good thing.
  7. Going down next weekend. I know Adventure Pier won't be open, but what's still closed on the other two? Sounds like they've gotten a lot open since the beginning of the month so hoping most of the usual favorites are back up. Also, there's no way to get a wristband, correct? I'm fully expecting to have to buy tickets but didn't know if there's a way to get a wristband that isn't listed on the site.
  8. The governor announced today that phase 4 (including amusement parks) will not begin until there is either a vaccine or a proven medial treatment. Stick a fork in this season.
  9. Lol I never even considered the reduced capacity. If it was running half the train empty it would probably have a comparable capacity to a Skycoaster! Honestly at this point I'm hardly even bummed about it. I'm just excited about the idea of riding ANY coaster in the next couple of weeks.
  10. Now I'm officially jonesing. It's been over a month since the last post about it, but dare I ask if theres been any updates on Jersey Devil? Assuming theres a 0% chance it opens with the park but have they caught up enough to maybe have it ready this operating season?
  11. Yeah the state could always give them a special date in Phase 3 especially with reservation systems and all. Hopefully this "waiting for the next holiday thing" doesn't mean phase 4 starts on September 8th.
  12. MA just announced phase 3 is pushed back one week to July 6th, so the earliest phase 4 can begin and SFNE can open is July 27th.
  13. In the reopening guidelines, the restriction is if you've been on public transportation outside of NH, VT, or ME. So it looks like Massachusetts residents can go if they aren't using the MBTA to get to work. The place I read it removed the "public transportation" part (probably intentionally) but this is still a significant portion of their clientele. Not that anyone would admit to using public transportation if asked anyway.
  14. It's in the amusement park reopening guidelines from Sununu that were sent out yesterday. That and rides have to be deep cleaned every two hours and riders have to sit 6 feet apart, so that means Cannonball will probably have like 6-10 riders per train lol.
  15. No one who traveled outside of NH/VT/ME in the past 14 days will be admitted. Guess the state two miles to their south is out of luck.
  16. Both of those are virtually non existant. Not like 2 months ago when they had cops at the state lines asking where you went. Been down a few times for food, shopping, and Foxwoods and no one bats an eye.
  17. Massachusetts put amusement parks in Phase 4 which will start no earlier than July 20th. Of course they could change the "phase" for amusement parks or make a totally different set of rules for SFNE but thats the only thing to go on right now.
  18. If only they could really go old school and unfence the monkeys. But this is awesome news!
  19. If we all pool our stimulus checks we could buy DD and put it in someone's yard. It's too bad impulses aren't a little more popular, but other than maybe Wicked Twister when it was new I don't think I've ever waited in a line for one. Any launch is a fun launch and they're definitely unique. But even Wicked Twister keeps popping up in rumors to be on the chopping block so maybe impulses aren't long for the world.
  20. I was going to say maybe they'll throw a bone Michigan's way. Wouldn't be the first time they got something off the Cedar Fair scrap heap.
  21. I like Possessed but I feared the worst when I saw Intamin being removed and thought of everyone's favorite car crash simulating tower. Demon Drop is literally the only reason I ever stop at Dorney. Wonder if this will stay in Cedar Fair's possession. Maybe King's Dominion so they can keep pace with BGW?
  22. Not sure what you're referencing but there's only one Intamin in that park that I care about and it's not a coaster.
  23. Well I'll be damned. Sounds awesome there so far, can't wait to check it out. BTW, theres a new baseball team you can check out next time you're at Kings Island: https://www.wlwt.com/article/florence-freedom-baseball-team-renamed-the-florence-yalls/30609569
  24. We've been doing this for like 5 years now, so you know the drill. 1. How many parks did you visit in 2019? 7 Cedar Point' Moreys Piers BG Williamsburg Kings Dominion SF Great Adventure Dollywood SFNE 2. Best new-for-2019 (or new-to-you-in-2019) ride? Don't think I rode anything new for 2019, but new to me was positively Lightning Rod. 3. Name the first 3 coasters that come to mind. Lightning Rod Runaway Tram Flitzer 4. What was the best flat ride you rode in 2019? Morey's Screaming Swing 5. What is your favorite RMC under 130 feet? (cheat sheet) Twisted Timbers 6. What was the last Premier coaster that you rode? Tempesto 7. Name a park you've been to that you're already planning to revisit. Dollywood (one ride on Lightning Rod before its daily catastrophic failure wasn't enough) 8. What is your home park and how many times did you visit in 2019? SFNE - two 9. What park are you most looking forward to visiting in 2020? Magic Mountain 10. Kennywood or Dollywood? Pick one Love Kennywood, but how can anyone possibly pick it over Dollywood? 11. What ride/coaster disappointed you the most in 2019? Of anything new to me, probably Mystery Mine. Took my boots off by mistake. 12. You're at Great Adventure. You play that racist-ish gong game and win a one hour ERT session for you and your friends on ONE coaster of your choice. But damn! El Toro, Kingda Ka and Nitro are all down! So you ride... Batman 13. What is the last coaster that changed your top 10? Lightning Rod (new #1 wood) and Intimidator 305 (new #3 steel) 14. Most recent park food you ate. BACON WRAPPED PORK KABOBS!!!! 15. What park do you wish was your home park? Knoebels 16. What 2020 attraction do you have the biggest boner for? Jersey Devil 17. What park will you visit next? Quite possibly Lagoon, planning my SLC ski trip in April this year so I can finally check it out. 18. Favorite breakfast before a day at a park? Rare for me to eat breakfast although I always stop for a chicken biscuit at Sheetz whenever I'm in PA. 19. Cedar Fair park you visited most recently? Kings Dominion 20. Was it awesome? Of course. 21. Skyrush or Candymonium? I want Candymonium to win the plurality here so Skyrush has a shorter line. 22. What 2 overseas parks do you want to visit the most? Not sure how to narrow it down to two...maybe Holiday Park and Liseberg? 23. The best B&M coaster you rode in 2019 was? Nitro 24. What is the saddest/dirtiest credit whore thing you've ever done? Honestly I'm not the "ride a kiddie coaster just for the credit" type person so not sure I have a crazy enough story for this one. Does going to Delgrosso's just for the spinning mouse credit (and then realizing it was Wednesday so of course it was worth the trip) count? 25. Last time you bought fast pass? Cedar Point 2018 (9 rides on Steel Vengeance that day, worth it) 26. What was the longest you waited for a ride/coaster in 2019? I'm sure I waited over an hour for Steel Vengeance in May but I did a good job avoiding crowds overall this year. 27. What season passes/membership do you currently have? Six Flags 28. If you could go to a park with anyone on this forum for a day who would it be and to what park? Robb somewhere in Japan because I'd have no idea how to do anything if I ever went there. 29. Battle of the Busch 2020: Iron Gwazi or Pantheon - which would you rather ride? Iron Gwazi 30. Most times you've ridden one coaster (rough estimate or exact if you're a super nerd) Superman SFNE (had a count like 17 years ago but then I grew up,..kinda). Must be around 300 by now. 31. Congrats! You just won passes to spend A WEEK at the park of your choice! Dorney Park or Valley Fair? Pick one and why. Dorney Park because Demon Drop. 32. Talk about a park food that knocked your socks off Most recently: the Bacon Wrapped Pork Kabobs at Great Adventure. Anything at Dollywood. 33. Pick one: Kumba or Montu Sadly neither one yet. 34. What are your three least favorite woodies? Wildcat (Lake Compounce), Twisted Twins (good riddance), Predator 35. Best sweet snack at a park (degree of difficulty: not Dollywoods cinnamon bread) Bavarian Pretzel from the place next to Verbolten 36. Kings Island is on the phone and they want you to decide what is going in the old Vortex spot. What do you add? A real giga coaster....JK, but an RMC would round them out nicely. 37. What roller coaster currently sits at the top of your bucketlist? (degree of difficulty: NOT a new-for-2020 ride) The aforementioned Kumba and Montu. 38. Name 3 parks you want to visit in the next 3 years. BG Tampa, SFMM, Carowinds 39. Name 3 other forum members you hope fill this out. In lieu of 3 people filling this out, I'd like a funny video of a rough coaster from Robb and a TR from Coasterbill. The first thing already happened, I might win a million bucks tonight...what was the other thing again? 40. Show us how cool you are by posting a picture of yourself on a coaster or in front of coaster. Bonus points if you're holding a sign with a number on it like the nerd you are. There's a picture of me on SFNE Cyclone on its last day of operation, not sure where it is. Other than that I don't have one. I'm at 198 now, so when I ride my 2nd new coaster this spring there sure won't be a picture of me holding a sign that says 200
  25. I don't know why but this is always infinitely funnier to me whenever an official press release gets posted.
