  1. Just curious, has anyone been on both Lex Luthor and Zumanjaro? They look nearly identical, but I wasn't sure if there was any differences in the ride experience (audio, longer hold at the top, etc). I rode Lex Luthor earlier this summer and loved it.
  2. Bizarro is still an elite coaster. While I preferred the original trains, the new trains provide a nearly identical ride. The ride is still glass smooth and jam-packed with air-time and forces.
  3. That's a shame the new trains have ruined one of the park's best rides. And as for the crowds, I would recommend hitting Goliath and Thunderbolt early since their one train operations can lead to slow lines. Cyclone (if it is running one train) can get an awful wait as well. Pandemonium will have a long line all day, so I recommend the single rider line. Don't let the ride's small stature prevent you from riding it. Also, Scream has a hidden single rider line at the exit that is worth using if lines get bad.
  4. Drop towers (of any make, though preferably Intamin or ARM) are my guilty pleasure ride of choice.
  5. That would be much better than the old Chance tower that they had.
  6. Great photos! I think that might be Six Flags New England's old inverter since it has the clock theming. If that's the case, I'm not surprised it it is often closed since that was sadly the case when it was at Six Flags.
  7. Nice trip report. I was just there a few weeks ago. I would assume so. I've only had the chance to ride SUF twice, but it always fills up the switchbacks. It's interesting to see that the Oasis Plaza coasters (Kong and Medusa) had short waits while Boomerang had an hour-long wait all day; it's generally out of the way of the guests who don't care for the animal exhibits. I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one who actually enjoyed SFDK's Boomerang. I was able to ride Superman without any wait 3 times a few weeks ago. Once the park opened, I made sure to hit it first. When I returned later in the day, the line looked very long.
  8. I'm glad they put the fire out and no one was hurt, but I will say this, it helps make the Disneyland castle more noticeable.
  9. I loved Green Lantern's intensity, but some of the abrupt motions were painful down below. It's one of those rides that I would make sure to ride every visit, but rerides would be difficult.
  10. While I'm not a big fan of swinging ships, that would be a nice addition in Twister's spot. Also, does the park still have Nightwing and Rodeo on site? They reinstalled Joker's Wildcard after it was removed for a few years, so maybe they could do the same thing with one of those two rides.
  11. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom was a decent experience. It took me almost 4 hours to get there due to Vallejo's awful public transit, but I was still able to get to the park before opening. The park's theming was pretty good towards the back of the park and most of the employees were friendly. In terms of rides, Superman and Medusa were excellent but the rest of the park wasn't all that special in my opinion. My theme of the day was my quest for my 200th credit. Entering the day, I had counted 193 credits. I wanted either Superman or Medusa as my 200th coaster. I decided to make it Medusa since I anticipated (correctly) that Superman's line would be terrible come the afternoon. I rode Superman 3 times without any wait as soon as the park opened and loved it. Medusa was my 7th coaster of the day and what I believed was my 200th credit...but then I realized that I had forgotten to include Six Flags New England's Gotham City Gauntlet in my credit list later that night so Kong became my 200th credit. That ride was painful in so many ways, but I guess I deserve it for being a credit whore. Onto the pictures! This is like the ugly duckling of impulse coasters yet it hangs above the main entrance. I wish I was Aquaman so I could talk to you. Wait no I don't. That would mean that I would have to be Aquaman. So much better than Superman Returns. It even has the constipated Bizarro cutout from Six Flags New England! Superman was my favorite ride in the park. It was a rush from start to finish and had incredible air-time going over the drop and down the twisting drop. Roar's operator was singing "Happy Birthday" to random people in line. Then they boarded the coaster and got their birthday beatings. V2! Because U2 was already taken. Boomerang was a necessary evil to reach credit 200. The rest of the park guests were smart. This made me feel like I was sitting on a vibrator. And they can torture me? I gave the park my fingerprint, but now I am their prisoner? My 200th credit that wasn't. Medusa is my new favorite floorless. The first drop was outstanding and I loved the sequence of inversions. The area around Sky Screamer is a great place to get some photos of Medusa. I wish more B&Ms had straight drops. Just as I was about to board, the ride broke down. Was I going to be denied Medusa as my 200th credit? Well yes and no. I was able to ride it after, but past laziness came back to bite me. I would like to say that I rode this to help me reach credit 200, but I rode it afterwards because I could. Mock me accordingly. The park had some decent non-coasters too. I really liked the custom design of the Hammerhead Shark. And Thrilla Gorilla. And Monkey Business. I wanted to ride this, but I didn't feel like waiting an hour. So I found alternatives. Perfect! Tsunami Soaker was a major hit among families. The ride was a lot of fun and I can see a lot of other Six Flags parks adding these.
  12. When you celebrate that Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's Medusa is your 200th coaster...and then cry a week later when you realize that you forgot to include Six Flags New England's wild mouse with the crazy long name in your coaster count so a Vekoma SLC becomes your 200th coaster.
  13. Here is a precursor, I love B&M. They are my favorite manufacturer as their coasters are extremely rerideable and enjoyable. I often see complaints about Intamins breaking down frequently (and have experienced this first hand). Many times I've heard that B&Ms are super reliable, but lately I have run into a lot of B&Ms having technical difficulties. Have I just hit a bad run over the past two years or is this the norm for their coasters? 2 Years Ago Talon- The train I was on got stuck on the lift hill. After about 20 minutes, they unlocked our restraints and had us walk down. The coaster didn't reopen for the remainder of the day. Last Year Batman- the Dark Knight (SFNE)- The train got stuck on the lifthill a few times during my visit (maximum breakdown that I saw was 30 minutes). This Year Riddler's Revenge- It broke down twice while I was in line. I couldn't see what happened since the wait stretched beyond the switchbacks. Batman the Ride (SFMM)- It broke down twice while I was waiting in line before going down for the day. One of the times, I saw the train stuck on the lift hill. Silver Bullet- I just rode the coaster and went back in line when they announced that it shut down. I am not sure what happened. Medusa (SFDK)- The sensor right before the train enters the station was acting up and the maintenance staff had to replace it in order for the train to advance to the next block. During the breakdown, I was talking to an employee and she mentioned that Medusa breaks down more than any other coaster in the park.
  14. Here is a shot of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's Tsunami Soaker that I got last weekend.
  15. I was just there yesterday. Endeavor was back up and running, but Delirium was still down. I was looking forward to riding that, but hopefully I'll get it later this summer. It was my first visit at the park and I really enjoyed it. The park has an awesome one-two punch in Flight Deck and Gold Striker. Then I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the park. Crowds were manageable and well-behaved and the park was exceptionally clean. I have quite a few photos to upload later this week.
  16. I remember seeing that for the first time in a POV and thinking my Internet went down. That's crazy. Sorry it has been a while since my last update, but here's Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk! I loved this park. It had an outstanding ride lineup and the park's location is perfect right along the beach. The Giant Dipper was just as good as advertised and the classic carousel with the rings was a hoot. I will definitely be making another visit there by the end of summer. Onto the photos! What a beautiful day to go to the beach! And when I say the beach, I mean Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. That's more awards than the Titanic. Kate Winslet has nothing on those curves. And there's Leonardo... The Giant Dipper was the perfect classic wooden coaster. There was some really good air in the back and wild laterals. To top it off, she is still smooth after all these years. It's the new kid on the block, and I don't mean Donnie Wahlburg. I love Mauer Sohne spinners. They are very rerideable. I was very impressed by how the park had a flume with a custom layout instead of the cookie cutter version I see at my local carnivals. The park really crams a ton of rides in. There are multiple layers to the boardwalk much like a classic deep dish pizza (aka not Uno). This was the surprise hit of my visit. The indoor breakdance was extremely disorienting. Whoever told me not to play with fire was wrong. Resist urge to make a phallic joke. Resist urge to make a phallic joke. I couldn't... These rings > Green Lantern's ring Who needs an organ when you have an iPhone? You're gonna die clown! This park just loves to name rides after storms. This had a very weird cycle. It went super fast forwards. To my amazement it started going backwards, but it never picked up much speed and was over very quickly. What a tease. I can explain. I needed to ride this in order to reach credit 200 when I went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. I was a credit whore for the greater good. That's a creative way to fill empty seats. They see me rolling. I saw this contraption driving to the park. It cost the guy $5,000! So in California, people don't jaywalk but they will do this.
  17. I was just there on Saturday (I'll post a TR when I get around to it) and had a pretty good time. My advise is to get there right away. I got there at opening and got on Superman three times, Roar, V2, Boomerang, and Kong without any lines. Medusa kept breaking down and I was able to ride it 3 straight times after it reopened. By the end of the day, Superman, Roar, and Medusa had lines of almost an hour.
  18. I'm at the Lawrence Livermore National Lab. I needed to make sure I do everything in California this summer. I started with Southern California since it's a bit of a trip using public transit. I've heard it's rough, but I still wanted to try it since I can tolerate aggressive woodies like Hershey's Wildcat pre-Millennium Flyers. At least you got on most of the park's best rides. The one amazing one you missed was Apocalypse.
  19. On the park website, the Flash Pass page lists V2 as closed but the main ride page doesn't. Would any of you know if it is actually closed? I plan on calling later tonight to check.
  20. I was thinking about going to Discovery Kingdom this Saturday. How bad should I expect the lines to be since I may not be able to stay all day due to my transportation to and from the park being public transit?
  21. The park is definitely deserving of a big new coaster considering that their last major coaster was a secondhand Arrow mine train and I would hardly call that major. I really think one of those Chance hyperlites would be a perfect complement to the Comet. Or if they want a looper, I would love to see something like Sky Rocket.
  22. Wow that is simply ridiculous. I've been to Six Flags New England a lot over the years and I think that may be worse than all of the stories that parkgoers say about Bizarro and its accident.
