Knoebels Discussion Thread
Canobie Coaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I ran into a fellow enthusiast tonight at Kings Island who was going to drive right past Knoebels on a coaster road trip without stopping. Trying to sell that park was one of the easiest things I've ever done. He saw the light when I described what it's like to get ejector airtime without a seatbelt. -

Same! And I also love how they reopened Beast 10 minutes before closing after it had been closed for hours (evacuated on lift). They also sent the train after warning everyone storms could develop quickly. -

I love how Cedar Fair will still run three trains on a quiet Thursday. -

Another big thing is if you can check in online or not. Lately I've had to check in at the long line at the airport for flights to the US. -

^ Honestly Predator was running great on Monday. I did ride in the front though. -

^ I'm one to talk since I don't really drink coffee. Admittedly the Pizza Pizza location I went to separate from the park was decent, but the in-park pizza looked like trash. -

Definitely check Fantasy Island out. I've also heard that Mind Warp flat is nuts. -

The biggest thing with Wildebeest and Mammoth is that they have no seatbelts. Both have airtime, which is quite interesting without restraints. I'd propose testing out Zinga first since that drop gives a little airtime too, but it's just the one big one there. The water coasters have multiple drops with air and are long rides. We will! First time at the event, 3rd time at HW overall. Exact same for me! -

You're going to start a war with that comment. Even the Tim Horton's at Darien Lake was ridiculously cheap. I think a donut cost the same there. -

^ My girlfriend loves beaver tails (fried dough with maple syrup, cinnamon, etc) but I'm not sure if they're on the dining plan. As a heads up, food lines were painful on Sunday. I was able to ride two coasters in the time it took for her to make it through half of one food line. -

I don't hate La Ronde as much as most. Having to wait 2 hours just to enter the park royally sucked, but I enjoyed my time once I entered. I liked Goliath, Vampire, and their flat rides, but many rides were closed during my visit and that doesn't seem to be out of the ordinary. As others have said, Seabreeze is a small park and crowds there aren't a big issue. The longest I've waited there is a half hour for the spinner and a half hour for Bobsleds. Great Escape isn't a full day park. The park has a charm to it and the Comet is very good. I've visited the park a few times and only ridden the Comet. Alpine Bobsled is the only other notable coaster. It's a fun ride (and a rare one too), but it rarely operates (can't run in rain, can't run after 6, usually opens late if it even opens). Their water park is excellent though. Also I strongly recommend the awesome Around the World and Goony Golf mini golf courses in the village. They're better than Great Escape. Canada's Wonderland has very efficient operations, but they can get slammed. Be prepared to buy FastLane if you want to ride all the coasters and/or reride the B&Ms. The merge points are in the station, so you usually can board in 5 minutes with FastLane. Just make sure to ride Guardian early since it isn't on the FastLane and has a dreadfully slow moving line. If you haven't been to Fantasy Island, I think you'll pass it and Silver Comet is a nice wooden coaster. -

I had to use FastLane this past Sunday as the park was slammed. Most of the FastLane queues I used brought you right to the station and since Canada's Wonderland assigns rows on most coasters (you can request a row still), you're usually on the ride in less than 5 minutes. Just make sure you knock out Guardian early. It isn't on the FastLane and we ended up skipping it on this visit since the queue was 90 minutes. It pained me to do so since I really like the ride, but I couldn't justify that wait when I could ride Leviathan 7-8 times in the same time span. -

A few people have asked about Skyrush on the park's Facebook page and the park commented that they're targeting a mid-June reopening. -

I just rerode Leviathan this weekend. Even though that coaster isn't as long as Fury, it's a rush from start to finish.
