^I'm blaming the model for NOT CORRECTING bad behavior. Who's responsibility is it to reprimand lazy employees? You can blame frontline employees all you want and say that they're the reason the park has the image it does, but ultimately. it's not up to them who the park hires and who stays on staff. It is not at all like blaming teacher for students not trying. It is like blaming students for a classroom being out of control when the teacher has the right, power, and ability to remove unruly students, yet doesn't.

Now let me ask you this question...were operations SUPERB, or SUPERB compared to years past? I ask this, because of all the praise given to MM, I find most of it undeserving. I still go to MM to this day and see employees ignoring people, ride ops screwing around, filthy bathrooms, employees from all departments on phones, and flat out bad operations. The only difference is it's not as bad as it was 3 years ago. So by definiton the park is doing better...but is it at it's BEST? I'd say no. I mean after all, The park has the same corporate model as MM and Gadv, so who can you really blame? The "lazy" employees or the management who neglects to run the park the same way every other park in the chain is being ran?

Underrated Coasters?
Bolliger&Mabillard replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I'm sorry...You put Riddler's Revenge and underrated in the same sentence? Riddler's Revenge is noted as one of B&M's better rides overall. There is nothing underrated about it in anyone's books. It's an 11 year old coaster that can still draw a 2 hour wait with a decent dispatching. -
^The same could be said for just about any park that they're nothing but cheap baby sitters. I still think that SFMM is a pretty ghetto park, based on the fact that some of the same things still go on that SFA gets critisized for. I've been to five seperate Six Flags parks and they all pretty much seem to be ran the same, with the worst one actually being the one near me. I hate to digress, but I promise I'll tie up loose ends into the mainpoint. PROMISE! I don't understand why people are in love with Gadv and MM whn every single Six Flags park I've been to at least seems to deliver an equal subpar experience. I have yet to make it out to SFA, but I can't see it being worse than MM, which has cleaned up it's act, but still underdelivers when compared to other themepark operators. I think SFA gets an unnecessary bad wrap. It could be alot worse.

^Steel Eel gets a pretty good amount of recognition. I think it's phenominal...especially after you've had a few runs through the hospitality center...but I'd imagine only us posters over 21 would know about that -
New Knotts Berry Farm Commercials

^And what's sad about that, is assuming Magic Mountain can kiss and make up with Intamin and can land a Kingda Ka clone...what's that gonna do to Xcel's rep? I believe Xcel's gonna get sizzerved on the cizzurve. -

The best "backward launch" I've experienced is that of an impulse coaster. A quick list of coasters that pack quite a punch for what they are NINJA-Six Flags Magic Mountain Best Arrow Suspended coaster I've been on. First helix is pretty intense. A 42" height requirement means even the little ones can have fun on it. FAIRLY ODD COASTER-Kings Island If someone told me that this was a wooden coaster for kids, I would have told you that you were crazy due to all the floater airtime it creates RAGING WOLF BOBS (Defunct)-Geaqua Lake Clearly the best woodie in the park, seeing how Dipper was a borefest and Villian broke femurs. PONY EXPRESS-Knott's Berry Farm It's short, it's boring, the layout sucks, it lacks the very essence of creativity...but I would rather see Knott's spend 10 million dollars on a coaster than more trash cans. -
Movies, Movies, Movies.....

^^Also saw "Knowing". Nicolas Cage seems to be pretty full of himself for this one. Pretty blasphemous plot. I saw the movie "I Think I Love My Wife". Nice movie. If you're a fan of Chris Rock's humor, you'll like this movie. Not intended to be a stellar comedy, but not the movies primary intent. Shows reasons why men would stray from a commited long term relationship and shows cheating from a "male" perspective. Good movie for you and and a date to sit at home and watch. The ending scene is funny, but doesn't fit in the movie. 7 thumbs up -
The 2015-16 NBA Season

Orlando looks like they're not going to let Jameer Nelson's absence deter them from championship contention. I look for Orlando to make a few teams unhappy this post season. -

Wait...it just dawned on me. Xcelerator counts as two coasters. When it shortshots with guests it considerd an impulse coaster, duh. -
^As soon as I heard this news, and all of my posts throughout this thread, my platform has been that it's just not the best decision for the chain to spend a "new ride" amonut of money to restore something that may or may not get it running like it did as a new ride. Personally, when I look at decisions like this, I know decisions aren't made for enthusiasts, I know they aren't made for nostalgia, and to an extent, they're aren't even made for the guests. I have always felt that capital improvement are made to see a return investment. Despite what we may think, and despite what we may think guest think, decisions like this are always made with the company's return investment in mind. not us, nor the guests. In this econmoy and with the chain in the shape it's in, that amount of money could have been better allocated.

It doesn't seem like they have a plan to get out of this hole...The only way they're going to solve this issue is with a solid plan that it doesn't seem they have. For now, it seems that they are making huge improvements, but are just bringing their parks to bare minimums. As for the rumored loan they got approved for...they should be weary. That's not goibg to solve their debt, just changes who they owe.

Funny Things That Go Unnoticed

I find it funny how all of the ride gates at SFMM now say "DANGER-HIGH VOLTAGE", no matter what the gate fences off. -
Hmmm...I can see June as a realistic date. Early June seems logical as construction was slow to start. Back in November we all predicted the possibility of a delayed opening (and let's not forget the doubters who thought the whole project was scrapped!) I don't care when it opens, so long as I get to ride it before my trip to GADV June 13th.

^I understand that, but that is alot to invest in something that could be completely replace for not much more than the overhaul price. Think of it this way. You are spending $30,000 to repair a poor performing car that orginally cost $15,000, when you could pull your resources tighter to buy a new car for $34,000. No matter how you look at it, new trains, retracking, padded seats, it's still going to be the same rough ride. I just think with an investment of $10 million, a much better ride could be built. All this money is, is a really expensive band-aid.
