  1. Are there adjustable settings that control how much the cars are allowed to spin, or does it have to do solely with the weight distribution of the riders on the cars?
  2. I think that if you look into the demographics related to those numbers of tourists you would likely find that many are retirement age. Not exactly the same demographic that would be most interested in including a theme park as part of their vacation. Surely the locals that fit the theme park visiting demographic would visit due to a lack other attractions, but again the population in the area is relatively small. I'm not trying to burst your bubble and I would welcome a park being built in the northern part of the state, but honestly, I think if it really was viable then it probably would have already been done.
  3. The issue with what is truly the northern part of California is that there simply isn't a sufficient population base or level of tourist traffic to justify a park of any significant size.
  4. 8/20. I guess I have some movies to watch.
  5. A relatively low-to-the-ground multiple launch type coaster, perhaps along the lines of the new Manta at Sea World San Diego, could certainly stay within the height limit toward the backside of the park. A moderately thrilling family attraction of that sort in that area would be sure to be a crowd pleaser. That said, I'm fairly sure that a more likely area for an addition of that sort would be the hill behind Boomerang and Tasmanian Devil that is currently home to the dormant 3D theatre. There were some rumblings a while back about future plans for a coaster being added to that hill, but I haven't heard any more about it. In fact, hasn't there been talk about adding some sort of walk-through animal attraction to that area since then?
  6. I passed a truck carrying some supports for SFDK's Superman while traveling westbound on I-80 through Roseville this morning at about 5:30 AM as I was headed to work. It's the first time I've ever seen coaster parts being transported and actually knew where they were headed.
  7. I didn't think the hair translated very well from the movie to the 3D animatronic character, but it wasn't like it was a make or break deal. I'm okay with them fixing it, but also wouldn't have really cared much if it was left as is. Much more of a distraction during our first ride on the attraction was one of the Ariel animatronics being cross-eyed. The ride closed shortly after our ride and re-opened later with the eyes fixed.
  8. Because idiots dropped things, like coins, down on the unsuspecting people below.
  9. ^ Using that logic: If I taped your legs together, then you'd only have one leg, right?
  10. How many other coasters have a double-down first drop like Jack Rabbit? I've wondered why more coasters don't have that feature as it seems like it would be awesome.
  11. Are there real people inside the walk-around characters? If so, it seems like it would be incredibly difficult for them to move without falling down. They certainly do look amazing.
  12. Oh noes! No yellow rails!? This ride is dead to me now.
  13. The only thing I can imagine is that they're trying to appeal to the generations that remember Orange Bird and also introduce what was a fairly successful character (as far as I'm aware) to a new generation. An old Florida orange juice commercial with Orange Bird:
  14. I remember Orange Bird from the old Anita Bryant orange juice commercials back in the 70s. He's definitely a retro memory jogger.
  15. A question for those who have experienced Insane at Grona Lund and Green Lantern at SFMM: Did the greater number of spins received on Insane result in issues with the cars not returning to the station in the proper orientation?
  16. I'm not a coffee drinker myself, but my wife and daughter will be pleased by this news as they are both Starbucks fans and have complained about the quality of coffee served at the DLR on multiple occasions. Whatever keeps them happy is okay by me.
  17. I can't help but wonder if one train operations at seemingly illogical times have anything to do with encouraging Flash Pass sales. I know that in public we'd get a denial that any practice of the sort would be in play, but what happens behind closed doors in executive meetings about improving profitability and what's said in public are often two very different things. If the maintenance schedule can be manipulated to increase profitability on multiple fronts, then why wouldn't a savvy executive team do it? That is, as long as operations are not cut back to a level that discourages attendance, or at least doesn't discourage attendance to the point that increased Flash Pass revenues more than cover the loss in attendance. Or, more to the point, discourages attendance of those guests that spend the least in the park while not significantly affecting the attendance of those that spend the most. In this day and age of micro-analyzing every facet of clientele behavior and spending habits, I would imagine the people in the corporate offices know exactly where those balance points are at.
  18. I read it as some random woman, but you never know. I still thought it was kind of funny either way.
  19. If it was really all that "confidential", then it wouldn't have gone out in a survey to park guests.
  20. After stopping to think about it for a moment, it was Colossus at SFMM. It wasn't running half bad either. Nothing stellar, but decidely smoother than my rides on it a little over a year ago.
  21. Someone get this guy a cookie. But to be fair, it isn't common sense to someone who is not familiar with SFMM. My post wasn't a slam against anyone. I'm just saying that once you walk up Revolution's exit it will become readily apparent how much of a time saver this little short cut really is. I understand it may be more difficult to grasp the short cut by description than by actually being at the park, but it really is very simple and incredibly easy to find. All this is from someone that actually had difficulty finding the entrance to Goliath on my first visit to SFMM after the ride was built. I'm not kidding either. I look back on it now and laugh, but I actually walked around the corner towards Colossus the first time I was trying to find the entrance to Goliath. I did see the huge GOLIATH letters, but didn't realize you had to walk through them to enter the queue. Live and learn, and laugh about it.
  22. That is nothing short of totally BAD-ASS! I'm looking forward to this ride big time.
  23. I knew about the Revolution short cut because of common sense before I had ever seen it mentioned online.
