  1. The newer video is just as dreadful as the first. I'm almost certain that I am now dumber after watching it.
  2. That video is inaccurate to the point of being irresponsible.
  3. Doesn't Tiki Twirl technically "valley" after every ride cycle? I realize that it stopped on the other end of the track, but can a powered ride truly valley?
  4. Gold Striker at CGA earlier today.
  5. Yeah, and it's an AWESOME discount at the moment. The site linked through the Club TPR member benefits has a July special of admission for $25 when you buy 2 or more tickets. On another note, I went to the park today with my brother in law and 2 sons. I ran into most of the TPR CGA regulars. It seemed like they were having a good time, as did we. Attendance seemed fairly light to me, but I don't have much in the way to compare it to since it was my first visit to the park in 2 years. We had Fast Lane passes, but wouldn't have had a bad day even if we hadn't. I got to finally take several spins on Gold Striker and I can report that it definitely lives up to the hype. The thing that surprised me most was the unrelenting speed that it carries through the entire course. I don't think there's a bad seat on the ride, but I preferred the back of the train myself. As has been posted in this thread before, Happy Feet in the Action Theatre was kind of lame, but it was nice to be inside the chilly air conditioned building for 10 minutes or so. Other than that, the park was pretty close to how I remembered it from my last visit, other than being spruced up a bit and the queues being a little weird with the widespread application of Fast Lane to many of the rides. Although the way the queues are run now result in nearly empty station buildings, save for those riders awaiting the next train for a coaster, I do appreciate that they now have groupers at many of the rides. While the park still has a ways to go, it certainly seems to be headed in the right direction.
  6. Yeah, it's not like they're building a Flying Turns from scratch or anything. I'm looking forward to this ride opening so I have a good excuse to head back to the park.
  7. The area immediately around Knott's on Beach Blvd. has always appeared to be perfectly safe to me. The family and I have walked a block or 2 to our hotel after Haunt on a few different occasions and I have never felt like we were in any danger.
  8. I know GL has a flat appearance if you look at it's front profile but...GL is an Intamin coaster And here I thought it was a torture device.
  9. The couple seconds of - Welcome to the machine - in the tunnel was a cool little surprise. The ride looks fun. I can't wait for WCB.
  10. The ride is scheduled to open on 10/30/2013. Soft openings prior to that date are a possibility, but you can't count on it.
  11. And half dont know that one day it will explode/expands and melt the universe Melt the universe, huh? You may want to distinguish the universe from our particular solar system if you're truly interested in accuracy.
  12. ...And there's always Caltrans for the win! If anyone takes longer than Caltrans does, God help us all! I honestly haven't been following construction of the ride very closely, but has there been any hint as to the effects that may or may not occur in the tunnel? I'm looking forward to whatever they have in store there. that would be city/state projects... anything contracted by the city/state (for example classrooms at my community college were suppose to be completed in 2011, they are not, and they have been sitting their unfinished for a year I can tell. Let me guess... Your English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation classes, would have been held in those classrooms, right? Wait, so this is the California Department of Transportation looking to get into amusement rides? - facepalm -
  13. Any random bench in the vicinity of Vortex would be the best seat. BTW, are you actually #1rollercoasterfan with a new username? Your posting style (half a dozen inane questions in nearly every post) is eerily similar. So I wasn't the only one that thought that. Haha. Very annoying "style" of posting. Yup. Same person. Looks like they were just banned and were trying to be sneaky. Thanks for pointing this out, guys. As Shakespeare wrote: "What's in a name? That which we call a turd by any other name would smell as crappy." Or something like that.
  14. It could be worse. They could have contracted Caltrans to build the ride. Disclaimer: You'd have to have spent some time on California highways to get that one.
  15. Here's your washing machine, or dryer, as the case may be:
  16. They're trying their best to keep the self-entitled California riffraff out of the parks.
  17. Maybe we need another thread about rides where you enter through an animal's butt, or get pooped out of it... Nah, maybe we don't.

  19. TMLR is such a great classic ride. It's awesome to see what a nice job they did of putting it back into shape. WCB is going to be better than ever. Thanks for the video David.
  20. At least no seats have fallen off of The Smiler yet. (as far as we know)
