Best And Worst Coaster In California
bflag replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!

Nice!! For people who don't know who Donna Frye is this wont make sense but this is hilarious and totally true. If she wasnt in the San Diego City Council Sea World might be alot bigger and better.....which could be a good or bad thing depending on who you talk to in San Diego. Me personally dont care either way, but it would be nice to have at least one "Thrill Ride" in the park.

Let's Learn about the Matterhorn!

This is something I've always wondered myself. I love this ride but I wish it would faster and a little less rough. IMO, This is something DL should consider doing sometime in the next 10 years. Regardless what happens this is still one my all time favorite rides. -

^ My thoughts exactly. When I first seen the video for this ride I instantly thought about Flashback at SFMM. I liked Flashback but it was ROUGH and got boring after a couple of rides. I doubt Steel Hawg will be as rough as Flashback was but these rides don't really get me excited. There was talk at WCB that this is a possible ride somewhere on the west coast.....I hope not at SFMM unless its 200ft like mentioned. -

From Screamscape: 5/30/08 - UPDATE: According to the local news the report for last summer’s Superman: Tower of Power accident has been released and they are placing the blame on both a “faulty cable and slow response by the amusement park ride operator as the largest factors in the accident”. “"In the KDA's opinion, the injuries to the ride patrons probably would have been limited to cuts and scrapes had the emergency stop button been pressed, in accordance with training," the report said. “A loud noise and screams from passengers to stop the ride gave the operator enough time to halt it and avoid serious injuries”. -

The themeing on this ride looks AMAZING!!! The ride itself looks equally as good and if that video is real then this will be on my list for must rides of 2009. -
^^^^ Iam sure you have a plan to solve world hunger, California traffic, and how to get rid of wrinkles but nobody will listen. Its a shame because its seems you have all the answers to questions us humans have been searching for since the beginning of time....wait, are you the second coming of Christ?? I knew this website was going to change my life. I seen this grade school drawing two pages ago and it was totally laughable then and even more now and if fact is a insult to SFMM and all of us here as well. They don't need help running there business, especially from some kid from the OC. They proved to me and most of us here that they are doing a fantastic job turning this park around, but some people (Pure) cant be pleased or they (Pure) just don't want to be pleased. Sorry for the personal attack, but I HATE YOUR READING YOUR POST. There all the same "Iam smarter then you, negative, negative, negative, condescending" with a twist of positive at the end.

^ I would be fine with a GCI, but I would really like to see a Intamin El Toro clone right where Psyclone used to be stretched all the way to about the end of Riddler's....that's my dream. I like the idea of a refurbished Colossus but a total rebuild is out the question as well as a Speed Racer theme especially if it involves a name change. I think all Colossus needs is a paint job some lights and maybe some new trains and it will be fine.

From Screamscape: Late 2009 or Early 2010 - Star Tours 2 - Semi-Confirmed - (5/28/08) After all these years of following rumors for the next version of Star Tours confirmation of the project has finally been leaked in an article about the GCI effects for the latest Indiana Jones film. While interviewing Hayden Landis, a head GCI guru for Lucasfilm’s ILM, the last paragraph says, “Next up for Landis is another nostalgia-oriented project--a redo of the Star Tours ride at Disneyland.” We can only assume that the project will also be launched at the other three Star Tours attractions around the globe at the same time or shortly afterwards. -
Six Flags Magic Mountain X2 Campout!
bflag replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They really hit a home-run with the audio. I thought it would be a bunch of crappy techno music that nobody likes but instead they actually picked good music that everybody at least recognizes. The only way they could have topped that is if they had X2 Karaoke. -
IMO, I'd say a wood coaster is still the front runner. Management said no Dark Knight or Tony Hawks Big Spin and I would have to agree on the simple fact that SFMM can do a lot better then these options and I think they know this as well and that's why they are going a different route. Not to take anything away from those rides but SFMM is the thrill ride capital of the world and have higher standards then that. They also mentioned at WCB a El Loco style coaster like Steel Hawg at Indiana Beach is a possibility which is totally fine with me. This new management is very smart and I know what ever it is it will be a great fit for the park. "Let the speculation begin"

Six Flags Magic Mountain's X2 Media Day
bflag replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My thoughts exactly. Most of the (negative) comments about the ride are from people who haven't even rode it. Go out and give it a chance instead of letting other people make up your mind about how smooth or not smooth it is. X was already one of the most innovative rides EVER. When I first seen the art for this coaster I almost could believe my eyes. For all those people who are not X fans or haven't rode it yet, you have to admit that just the idea of this coaster is something that should be appreciated. Smooth or not smooth effects or no effects perfect or not perfect X (X2) will go down as one of the best roller coasters ever built. When I go to the park I go with my family and there's about 9 of us and not once have I ever heard the word "smooth". When my brother and nephew get off this ride they are absolutely speech-lees. So I think the general public really doesn't care about the same things that we go back in forth about on here cause people still line up for this ride. Hell, my wife cant even remember the names of the coasters and we live in So Cal and go at least once a year, but X2 is still her favorite ride. My Wife's Words: "If you don't like or never rode it then why cant the rest of us enjoy it like its intended purpose" -
Six Flags Magic Mountain's X2 Media Day

This ride was all ready the best ride on the planet (IMO), now with all the new effects and audio I can only imagine how much more intense it will be. Iam really happy about the music selection, Rage, Metallica and X2 equals perfection. Cant wait to ride and also I cant wait to see it at night....WOW!!!! Is it too early to start talking about X3?.....kidding. -

Anyone hear anything new regarding Monorail Blue?? -
Did anybody else see the Flash Intro to Magic Mountain's home page? I just watched it but, when I tried to view it again, it's no longer there. As if they just took it off right after I watched it. I'll try my best to describe it... It looks like it might be the commercial the park might use once the ride opens... It started off with the X2 logo doing a 360 spin, then it began shaking with the volcano in the back and all of a sudden these metal claws burst from below the X of the logo and crunch into the ground. And all of a sudden the metal X starts splitting open and all these wires and metal things burst out and then these red wire-y things start winding around the logo (it looks like some kind of alien vein things) and then it zooms in and it turns out to be the coaster's red track. The camera then pans and follows one of the winding red tracks and it shows a the new X2 train (CGI generated of course, but looks EXACTLY like it does in real life) and other stuff happens and then it all gets sucked back into the X2 logo and then the ad stops. It was a professionally done thing...so cool. Hopefully they'll put it back up. And that typical TV commercial voice guy was narrating the whole thing...saying stuff like "Don't resist." and "It's almost here. X2."

Thanks Robb!! Iam so happy that I don't have to read this guys LONG pointless comments about how everything @ SFMM sucks. He slams the park in one sentence then tries to throw in a nice comment to make us believe he actually cares about the park but then ends his post with something condescending. He thinks he knows everything and his expectations are so ridiculous even Disney couldn't fulfill them. ADMIN EDIT: Removed unnecessary comment. No need to flame. Let's all be civil. - Matt

Nicely said. I personally don't care about effects or fire or music either....the new trains and new paint job is fine with. If they do go through with these Flame effects, maybe they should think about just doing this at night and leaving it "as is" during the day. I didn't think about this but Bolliger&Mabillard made a very good point about the temperatures this summer. Something they should definitely consider. I've been saying for months they should have two different rides like Rockin Space Mountain last year @ Disneyland. This would cut down on the cost as well as creating a major buzz as the sun goes down.

I totally disagree with DJ's in the queue area. I for one don't care for this type of music and I know ALOT of others would agree. Just because a couple people think this is a good idea doesn't mean it should happen. I don't hate this music or Iam not putting anybody down for listening to it (so please no misquotes) Iam just saying that not EVERYBODY likes this type of music and to spend money on something that a few will like is the SFMM of old. I would much rather see money spent on bathrooms, Landscaping, new rides, ect. Once again Iam not trying to disrespect anyone's choice of music just stating my opinion.
