PortAventura Discussion Thread
bgwfreak replied to Shockwave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is one messed up ride! It's like X and Rita had a child! Thanks for the pictures, I didn't even know this one was being built. The preshow and station both look amazing and hillarious. -
Going to Kennywood for the first time Next Saturday!!! Thanks for the preview!

Geauga Lake Photo TR 5/31
bgwfreak replied to Masked_Maverick's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice Tr. How does GL's Maxx pass work? I have a Carowinds Maxx pass, do I just go up to the ticket takers or do I have to go to Guest Services? -
Yeah, I'm just concerned most about Milly. That's the one that I will be very close on. I've tried and tried to get over this plataeu I'm on, but I just can't budge. Oh well, 50lbs is still nothing to sneeze at and hopefully I'll start losing again very soon. <----- Post 1001 wOOt!

Well if this guy in the 2nd row is any indication, I won't have any problems fitting on Maverick! http://www.coasterimage.com/pictures/cedarpoint/maverick38.html

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
bgwfreak replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm thinking Carowinds will probably get a flat or two (please!) for 2008, but no rumors have started flying yet that I know of. It's early though for the leaks to start. lol -
I think they were just going for the simple fact that MILLIONS visit Orlando every year. I guess they thought they would get their cut of the pie. I don't see this though doing well for TBN. It's something that probably never will make money unless they add some major attractions to it. I've been to Isarel, I don't want to pay money to go see a model when I've seen the real thing! Oh and they had a model of the Old City over there too!

Great PTR!!! I've got to get to Texas and the SouthWest one of these years.

JZ's Ongoing Kings Island Update Thread!
bgwfreak replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know, I kinda like the new colors for Firehawk. Just paint those supports. I find it strange that they put it in the back of the park like they did with FOF where the GP probably wouldn't naturally see it. -
^ Thanks Dude. p.s. Jessica Alba was only 10 miles from me this weekend !!! It got about 5 degrees hotter that day in Charlotte. LOL They were in town at the race to promote the new Fantastic Four movie. Since I hate NASCAR and refuse to go near the track on race weekend, she didn't get to see me and ask me out. Running isn't great on your knees, so I haven't run since high school. But I do cycling and it burns almost as many calories, but is very easy on the joints and such.

Actually, no one's spamming, just having a discussion. No one's bashing anything all that's being said is the fact that some people are bummed about this. This is a forum and a place for discussion and this thread is not about who likes and doesn't like Harry Potter - it's about a huge change to Universal. You just need to calm down a bit I think, everyone is entitled to say how they feel about it. If you want to talk about Harry Potter himself you can certainly do that elsewhere too. Not trying to be mean, just saying - it's cool, no harm intended Actually I wasn't saying people couldn't dislike Harry Potter. I WAS saying, please don't divert this discussion about the park, and make it something about Harry Potter being evil or whatever. Which seems to always happen anytime HP comes up.

From the concept art, it makes it look like a whole new area and much longer and narrower than Lost Continent is IMO. I find it hard to believe they'd just rip out a whole land for a new one, but we'll have to wait and see I guess. And guys please don't turn this thread into OMG! HARRY POTTER IS EVIL AND I HATE HIM!!!! If you don't like Harry Potter, then find another thread to spam in.

I think this was discussed a long time ago, but I couldn't find the thread after looking through pages of threads. Does anyone know what the deal was on the dragon in the logo for the park (see the link)? http://www.thrillnetwork.com/stories_view.php/1996/six_riders_injured_rapids_ride_animal_kingdom.html Was it just supposed to be something like to cover all animals from the past, or were they actually going to do a land that involved dragons (which would have been cool)?

bgwfreak replied to Carnage's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Carnage I'm going to start calling you Canadian Glen! You have a scray resemblence to a friend of mine named Glen, who abandoned me and our coaster trips for some true love crap. I mean, really, he needs to check his priorities! Pssh. Who needs a wife, when there are Intamins out there to ride! -
Has anyone seen Jack Osbourne lately? He's lost a TON of weight! He was never what I'd call huge before, but he's lost at least 50lbs now and cut his hair. I didn't even recognize him at first on TV. Apparantly he lost it in hopes of climbing some silly mountain. But looks like he's keeping it off and he's gotten off drugs too. E is running their True Hollywood Story about him and the rest of the Osbournes. I think it just came out recently.. It's stories like that that keep me motivated. I figure if someone that is a lot worse off than me physically (because of all the drugs he used to do) can lose weight, then I certainly can as I've never done drugs or been drunk a day in my life.

I believe that the 1920s are typically considered the "Golden Age" of amusement parks. There were supposedly ~2,000 parks in the US alone. Of course, you're talking about theme parks, which are a different animal. Many call the 70s the Second Golden Age of the wooden coaster, maybe that's what he meant. I'd love to go back in time and ride some of those crazy creations back in the 20s.

Here's my weekly update. LOL Actually this was very cool, I've lost 50lbs now as of yesterday! Hopefully I can lose at least 1lb a week for the rest of the year, if so I'll reach my goal of 220.

I don't know if I'd call them cleaner, but they weren't as "corporate" back then with brand names and such. Carowinds used to have all their sections themed to the history of the Carolinas, beginning with the Native Americans and then the British Colonies and so on. Now the only Carolina stuff left is Cyclone, Carolina Boardwalk, Skytower and a few others. Most of the park was made over by Paramount and in some respects it wasn't for the best (themeing, not the actual rides). But I can't say that the park is cleaner or dirtier. It seems pretty clean to me.

OK. I was at the park too! Too funny. I didn't even see you. But I was only there 10-Noon to get my flyer and Top Gun fixes.
