I've never cliff jumped, looks far too unpredictable. However I have done it off a REALLY tall diving board. Also, at the reservoir I sail at quite a few of the guys jump off this pier which can literally be 30 feet away from the water when the water is low. I don't really like this sort of thing since I have bad vertigo, but in a really weird way I like coasters and such. Oh well!

^Oh, I wasn't aware ACE already had that system. As for your second point, that is exactly the type of person the parks could be in better contact with. It would all be about communication.
-
Hey Robb, You may already have this system implemented so I apologise if that is the case. My suggestion is would it be an idea to designate a member of Theme Park Review to be the representative for Theme Park Review at their local park. This would mean parks could contact local communities more easily and parks could also receive feedback more easily. It would also give parks an identity to attach to Theme Park Review and could ease organisation of trips etc. It could also enable Theme Park Review to expand just from the Global level down to a Regional and Local level as well. The main idea would just be rasing awareness with parks.

This park looks great. Falcon looks good and fits in with its surroundings nicely. The video is fantastically edited as well. Great!

You seem to think all moderators ever do is lock threads, in which case there would be far fewer than 18 of us. The problem is you only ever see us doing the "nasty" side of helping out with the forums. Every time Larry adds a park to the Index, he doesn't go on the boards and say "hey guys look at me! I've just made this site better, worship me!!". Every time Erik or Tyler finishes editing a segment for the DVD's, they don't make it known to everyone on the site. The only time you see the moderators actually doing anything is when they have to lock threads or edit posts. So please don't judge them based on that when they're actually doing a lot more "behind the scenes" to maintain and improve the site. Wow, to be honest I didn't really realise how much all of you did, I knew Larry did the Park Index, but I didn't realise you guys helped with the DVDs as well. My previous post once again stands. MG PS: Phazan, just because we all back up the Mods on what we believe is a fair decision doesn't mean we want their jobs. EDIT: Removed a phrase which I believe was actually too unfair towards Phazan, sorry Phazan for being a bit too harsh!

I personally feel that generally the Mods do a really good job. There is always going to be some level of intrusion, the idea of moderating requires it. The very fact that spam threads disappear quickly is testament to the guard kept by the Mods. Sometimes the replies from them might seem a little harsh, but I'm guessing you wouldn't be the happiest person on the planet if you kept finding thread repeats, spam and awful spelling. A perfect example of good moderating was the recently locked 'Speedos' thread. This thread was quickly descending into chaos and for a while the Mods let things slide, however the Mods quicly intervened when it was obvious it had gone too far. Although I am sure it will not have been popular with the parties concerned, the Moderators were right in acting.

PHOTO TR: Downtown Disney - With HOT Cheerleader Action!
MG replied to mrhambone's topic in Random, Random, Random
Would it be because neither of them has anything to do with Disney? -
Yeah, were allowed in but the rules are just rudiculous! Only aural exams today so not many people in the school, the place was deserted!
-
Just to update my school has now been CONFIRMED as having Swine Flu. Visiting school today for a French Aural exam was like visiting Fort Knox.
-
Don't worry, I hope I didn't make it sound as if I was telling you off! We just weren't sure what you were trying to say. We were a bit confused Welcome to the boards!

^^In the UK the Health Protection Authority advises the schools on what to do and can force them to close if necessary. The general advice being given to schools in the UK at present, like mine, is to close if there is a risk of the infection spreading. Whilst I think the situation has been overeacted, I think the NHS are right in making sure that no chances are taken.
-
My school has just been shut down for a week by the NHS due to a suspected case of Swine Flu. The infected person is in Year 7 (ie age 11/12). This is going to play havoc with my AS level public exams! Anyone else have any experiences like this yet?

Thorpe Park ticket @ home printing
MG replied to zjerre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't guarantee it will work but try emailing these two addresess guestservices@thorpe-park.co.uk guest.services@thorpe-park.co.uk Other than that, phoning is probably your best option. If you have internet use Skype instead, it is far cheaper than normal phone. -
I speak ORIGINAL english but I don't understand it either! Larrygator's translation from something to English seems to be fine.
-
Ah good I'm glad the project hasn't been abandoned. This sounds very promising Robb.

Hi Robb, ages ago you mentioned that you might introduce downloadable versions of the Coaster Expeditions for iPod to the store. Are there still plans afoot to do this? I

Depends on ride type and themeing. EG Air at Alton Towers looks great in light blue and suits the whole flying thing, whereas Intamin looks good in red on Maverick because it needs to be hot and fiesty! B&M: Dark Red Gerstlauer: Black Intamin: Red/Blue Vekoma: Green Arrow: Red with white supports

I think in the UK we are pretty anti-speedos now. 10 or 15 years ago you would have been fine wearing them at a public swimming pool, now? No chance. The only time I have worn them in recent years is for proper swimming ie racing, wear swimming shorts are just too heavy.

Photos have now arrived, ok maybe slightly late, but I'm lazy. The reason for the G-Force meter was I was on a school Physics trip, yes I know, best school trip ever! :lmao Finally, Saw with a car about to begin the games Me and my mate, with me wearing the school's very attractive G-Force meter and its accompanying vest Loop-de-Loop The twisted pleasure that is Colossus The mighty warrior that is Samurai Brand new for 2009: Saw-The Ride -
What are some loud rides and coasters?
MG replied to JFrombaugh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can guarantee that it is much louder than that video showed. Ground-trembling loud. It isn't just a case of being next to it. It is anywhere in the park, or the car park for that matter! I do agree though that Superman the Escape is the loudest, though Colossus is a close second. -

^Due to the side of the winch room being down, I wonder if the guy who told me actually meant the individual motors on 'Medusa' the main drum. There are loads of those. The guy who told me and the rest of my group was from the educational talks.
