  1. *Can't. *Their. *That is in three other parks. Worst post ever. Think about the words that you just wrote. Think about them. Now think about some of your previous posts. You rate Kumali as being better than The Smiler and Saw. Kumali is a SLC for crying out loud. How on earth can you make a rubbish post like this, about a ride infinitely more interesting than a crappy SLC?
  2. No local authority likes any of the parks. This just seems like a punitive and unreasonable refusal for the sake of it.
  3. The Smiler really screams as it goes around the track
  4. Thorpe Park: 2015: Entire park to be relandscaped to provide more seating and greenery, general tidy up and refresh of the theming as a whole 2016: Colossus to be completely overhauled, refurbished and equipped with new, more comfortable trains 2017: X to be replaced with more modern, thrilling hardware. Possibly a Premier Rides LSM launched ride. 2018: General refurbishment of all rides 2019: New headline attraction. Chessington: 2015: New roller coaster, possibly an Intamin Juvelen clone. 2016: Bubbleworks to be renamed back to Professor Burp's Bubble Works, and the ride to be totally reset to how it was before the Cussons sponsorship. At the same time, Vampire should be refreshed and refurbished to smarten it up. 2017: Nothing 2018: Nothing 2019: Nothing
  5. The Swarm, and as someone else just said Thirteen are very smooth.
  6. That actually makes sense, thanks for the answer
  7. I've wondered recently, how deep do most coaster footers go?
  8. The Smiler. Not a bad roller coaster, and I enjoyed it, but not worth queueing up for longer than an hour to ride.
  9. Contrary to what someone else said earlier, Europe has barely any really imaginative flat rides. Just the usual Mondial/Huss/Zamperla/Intamin/Fabbri line up with the exception of Thorpe Park, which operates the last remaining S&S Sky Swat.
  10. Intamin's older style OTSR's are very unforgiving, but their newer style thin strap OTSR used on some rocket coasters is far better. Never had a problem with B&M restraints, but their vest type system is just so comfortable. Feels like being hugged by John Wardley. The only restraint system I cannot abide is the S&S Lapbar and Shoulder grip combo. If you have even slightly broad shoulders, it is agony.
  11. [opinion] Posts like these bring out the worst in the coaster community. Lots of nitpicking, armchair experts offering up lectures, someone even legitimately came out with their disappointment that a small, family oriented park didn't build a Hyper... just be pleased a small park is confident enough to commit to such a large investment, and hope this paves the way for the future. [/opinion]
  12. I have to disagree with one thing you posted (even though I agree with the rest): This ride was for BOTH the enthusiasts and the GP. Both groups have been asking for a steel, and even though some enthusiasts don't seem to be open to changing their minds about wing coasters, many enthusiasts (like myself) like wing coasters and are super excited about this addition. And the entire campaign was targeted at the enthusiasts. Actually every ride is for the GP, which enthusiasts are a constituent of.
  13. I always come off of Colossus feeling sick, but that probably has more do to with the headbanging because I didn't feel unwell after The Smiler, Huss Enterprises make me feel truly unwell too.
  14. Nobody is interested. You sound like the sort of whiner I wouldn't want at my carnival. If I had one.
  15. A Mondial ride not running?!? You don't say! Glad to hear Colossus is running decently. I was on the second row from the front today and it was like Dot Cotton's smokers cough first thing in the morning.
  16. Evening all, in answer to Flotus's question, I'm not sure how the operations for that event will work, but at other Thorpe Park events I have been to, namely Fright Nights (quite a while ago, mind), I didn't have to leave the park at all. Best to email or phone customer services beforehand to ensure you don't encounter any nasty surprises. Going off of my experience in the park today, I assume the park will be very busy. Queue times exceeded 60 minutes for most of the major rides, especially the water rides, and didn't really subside much until very close to closing time and even then it was still 20 minutes for Stealth. In other news, I entered Samurai's area just in time to witness the ride break down with passengers still on it. Fortunately, the arms had stopped no more than 25 feet off the ground with all passengers upright. Nobody was in any danger but it would have been an unfortunate disruption to the day. Also down for the whole day was Tidal Wave, putting massive pressure on the other water rides. Detonator had a stoppage later on in the day, as did Stealth but both of these were resolved quickly and were back in service before the days end. I took some photos and video of the Samurai breakdown, if someone can tell me how to upload these here, I'd be happy to share them.
  17. Looks like a fairly well put together park. I really do love the paint scheme on that GIB, looks really cool. I have wanted to go to Russia for ages, but not for any Theme Parks, this just adds fuel to the mental fire.
  18. I have a feeling people are going to be pleasantly surprised when the actual layout is announced! In that case I am fully prepared to admit I was wrong
  19. Yep, I'm not persuaded that this is anything other than a slow, boring toboggan 500 foot in the air.
  20. I can't even imagine how the staff are feeling right now. I send my thoughts and prayers to them as well, I can very well see how something like this could cause someone to want to run away from what is otherwise a truly wonderful industry.
  21. How can you even for a moment put the blame on Intamin when there are so few details released??? This is a ride that has run for over 7 years without incident in a part of the world that has had some issues with ride maintenance before. (Hi, remember the flat ride that just collapsed at Tibidabo?) I'd personally put a bit more speculation into it being a maintenance issue than a problem with Intamin. Although Intamin may have more accidents, and that is unusual, one must always remember that coasters are safer than essentially any form of transportation. This is true, but when restraints fail some consideration at least must be given to the manufacturing, even if this turns out not to have been the prime cause of the event. As for Robb's comment, I am sorry I didn't reply to the message earlier, I hope my answer to this question explains my position further and I apologise if the way I wrote my first post to this topic didn't make it clear, I am not the best at always getting things out the way I mean sometimes
  22. I voted Theme Park, though I do believe that a strong ride line up, frequent investment and quality service can level the playing field between both. I find that I enjoy both differently, amusement parks like Thorpe Park keep me entertained and thrilled with big coasters and high octane flat rides, where as a theme park like Efteling and Alton Towers keep me engaged and enthralled with high quality theming and (not so much Alton) immersive, intricate dark rides.
  23. Is totally inappropriate given the context of the thread. I would ask you to remove it. Back to the restraints, thanks for the answers. I will continue to research this coaster type.
  24. I'm not familiar with the ZacSpin having never ridden one, but what are the restraints like on this ride? Do they differ to other Intamin restraints?
  25. I have always found myself defending Intamin when it comes to the grief they get about reliability/safety etc but I find it very, very hard to do that now. This is an absolute tragedy and I send my thoughts and prayers to the family of the deceased.
