Devil Wears Prada is awesome! I had the opportunity to see Chiodos and them at a club near here, but I was busy and I'm still cursing myself for missing it. My next concert will be Sigur Ros on the 23rd at the Filmore in Detroit (awesome venue, relatively safe area too).

Ever been on a coaster when it vallied?
cprocks22 replied to bspellx5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wicked Twister Seriously though, never been on a ride that has vallied, did see one of raptors trains valley during a test run though. I think it was the last day of operation 2 years ago and they just didn't bother re-opening it. -

Well since your giving out desktops... I hate to be unoriginal but can you send me the Hi-res version of your current desktop, the top of the pagoda? It would be MUCH appreciated . -
I had forgotten about this thread, and since I'm in love with my current desktop, here it is: Yay TDK!

I would agree with this statement. Last time my family and I were at Disney we got into AK around... 8 I believe for EMH. Park was dead, weather was completely comfortable (especially so because I'm from Michigan) and crowds were extremely minimal until just about 11. After that attendance really picked up and the temperature shot WAY up along with the humidity. Needless to say the air-conditioning in Dinosaur was welcomed (also one of my favorite dark rides). Keep the pictures coming, they're all great! -
OMG! I hope your ok, my friend got in a car crash a few weeks ago and it wasn't pretty, she's alright now though, just a little shaken up. Hope you recover well!

Wow, while I was reading your TR I thought of a lot of things to comment on but my stupid memory loss at 16 made me forget! I will say that it made me miss Disney World... a lot...*cry*. Awesome TR, I love it so far! The night pictures are amazing, keep em coming. I do remember seeing the same Skywriter during my last trip, he wrote something like Jesus loves you or something to that extent. Can't wait to see the rest of the report! -
Heres basically how they work (at least for my school). Instead of the typical 2 semesters, there are 3 Trimesters, where each one is 1/3 of the school year (simple enough). Because the year is split up into more "chunks" the hours are longer, therefore 5 hours, as apposed to 6. Also it allows for more elective classes due to there being more classes in general. Overall it sounds nice, but it messes up the teachers and the students. Teachers have less time to teach more stuff, and students get their classes broken up over an entire year. For example I'm taking Spanish 1st and 3rd trimester, meaning I'm taking it the first 1/3 of the year, and the last 3rd of the year.
-
Got my schedule today, here are my classes: Trimester 1: 1st - Spanish II 2nd - Lit and Modern Media 3rd - Ap European History 4th - Pre Calc 5th Physics Trimester 2: 1st - Lit and Modern Media 2nd - Economics 3rd-5th Same Trimester 3: 1st - Psych 2nd - Spanish 2 3rd-5th Same Tech class: Engineering/ Cad Design. Ahh I hate trimesters! As you can see above it totally screws up my schedule. I have Spanish II at the beginning and end of the year, and at different hours. I'm curious to see how this is going to work.

^^ They're definitely putting a path to somewhere in there, I could be wrong on my guess of all the way across to Shivering Timbers though. ^No refurbishment from what I could tell, aside from the obvious painting. The ride felt pretty much the same from when I rode it at GL. -
By the way, for whoever on here likes Hummers... Yes, its on a Mini, no its not mine.

^Don't get me wrong, I love the place to death as well, it just needs some TLC, and a coaster or 2 couldn't hurt . ^^ and ^^^^ I guess I had a bad experience on Thunderhawk. I remember it being painful at Geauga Lake as well as here. I'm always willing to give it another shot though. -
Lets see here... since my school started doing Trimesters I'm Just posting what classes I'm signed up for, no particular order. Psychology (two different classes). Pre-Calc Physics AP Euro (or AP European History) Spanish II Econ. The only ones I dont know are Tech classes which, because of the program I'm in (OSMTech FTW!) will be decided once we go back to school... though I'm trying to remember what my class voted on. There will be two tech classes through the whole year, and those cancel out my Pre-Calc and Physics class for 1 month at a time I believe. Once right before x-mas break and one at the end of the year after the AP students take the AP exam. P.S I start on September 2nd.

Ah Michigan's Adventure, the most lacking park out of all the Cedar Fair chain. Armed with only 1 awesome coaster, 2 (maybe 3) meh coasters, and at least 1 ow my spleen coasters, I should say this park needs some love. While Shivering Timbers is still an awesome ride, packed with airtime and relatively smooth, I still love it. However that's really the parks only good coaster. I really believe this park could do with one more GOOD coaster, but looking at the surrounding area, it just doesn't look like its going to happen. The nearby city's are struggling to survive and most of the town (and the park for that matter) looks abandoned, and I was there the week after 4th of July. The longest wait I had for any ride was 20 minutes for front row of Thunderhawk running one train. Overall though, I did enjoy myself, and they have a promising water park that still continues to expand. I wish the best to this little ex- family owned park that really deserves some love. Enough blabbing, onto the pictures... or lack there of! Didn't take very many pictures so heres the last one. Feel free to make any "Train going into the dark dank hole" joke you want. Only shot of Wolverine Wildcat for the trip =(, poor thing needs love too. I just noticed I actually got a train in the shot! Me=not fail anymore. That reminds me! They are currently making a path that runs from Thunderhawk and I believe will exit somewhere near Wolverine Wildcat. All I have to say is thank you!!!!! Their pathetic excuse for a train ride does have some positive aspects. 1) Good picture opportunities, 2) MUCH better then walking from Shivering Timbers to Thunderhawk (those who have been here know thats a LONG WAY). wow, I took the exact same shot twice, just ones zoomed in a little more. Me=fail. Some shots of Shivering Timbers cause we all know your filthy and you love them. I actually overheard a few people talking about how this looked incredibly similar to the one ride at Geauga Lake, I didn't break the news to them that Geauga Lake is mostly a lake now. Thunderhawk needs a slogan, something like... "I suck just as much as I did at Geauga Lake!", or "Why?". Yay for an Arrow Wild Mouse, I still find this one fun, not sure why. *I should be shot for these captions, sorry folks, I got nothing* Shivering Timbers!...and you thought I meant the scrambler! Sorry about the blurry-ness. My camera=fail. It calls to me... First ride, Falling Star. I'm not sure why these are so fun, and one of the very few flat rides I don't loose my kettle corn on, which happens to be crazy delicious here. Welcome to Michigan's Adventure, please give me a skyline that's not just Shivering Timbers!

Quoted for truth. Having not been on El-Toro, Voyage and Shivering Timbers are tied for most airtime on a wooden coaster for me. Voyage in the back is INSANE, especially over the first few hills. Shivering Timbers isn't as intense, but has a whole lot more airtime (and is still way up on my top 10 coasters list). Magnum on the other hand, no competition for most absolutely insane airtime. While its not the smoothest, the bunny hills on the way back to the station are packed with "extreme ejector air", to the point where it's almost painful (sit in the "money seat" and you'll see what i mean, first car 3rd row).

Dont you ever get Scared?
cprocks22 replied to Joan_Crawford's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As long as I'm strapped into something I'm usually not freaked out, with the exception being drop rides. Using Drop Zone (err... tower) at Kings Island as an example, I'm perfectly fine first... 50ft or so. After that I start freaking out a little bit, and have the closest thing to a heart attack when the car releases. Still LOVE the ride though. As far as coasters go, not much scares me. X scared me half to death first time I went on it. I loved it... I just wasn't expecting the whole "rotating face first towards the ground then free fall" part. Everything else, being on top of tall buildings reduces me to a quivering pile of mush, I almost died on top of Kings Islands eiffel tower. -
National Roller Coaster Day - 8/16
cprocks22 replied to TheCoasterCritic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll be up north in the middle of nowhere at our cottage. However, if I could, Cedar Point on a Saturday in august would be celebrating national roller coaster day while waiting in lines! Michigan's Adventure however... -

Wow, awesome awesome awesome Photo TR. Very interesting to see what a true German fair is like compared to the ones im used to. Pretty much, the Germain fair is tons better then any one I've been to. Great job! P.S Welcome to TPR! -
Some day I'm going to get rich by inventing a way to punch people over the internet.. Cameron. HA that made my day better, thank you. As for the whole SUV crap, I hate them, they're all awful. I'll take my Mini any day. And I'm not just saying that cause I love my car (however I do). Unless on a daily drive you haul a trailer or a good bit of cargo there is no reason to have that much...car. I just drive usually, back and forth to school, work, and other random things going on. I have no need to tow a trailer or carry a bunch of crap with me everywhere I go, therefore until probably well after college a Mini will work just fine for me. 13 gallon tank x 34mpg (city) = 442 miles, and that's on a bad day. Driving freeway I've gotten up to 41 mpg (x13 gallons = 533 miles on one tank of gas).

El toro restraints
cprocks22 replied to vacoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ Fortunetly I didn't get stapled on any of the 3 (Hulk, DD, or Montu). The one ride I ALWAYS get stapled on is Dragster. And this has only been the past 2 years. I'm 5' 10", size 32 waist and the seat belt fits no problem. But the ride ops just LOVE to push the lap bar down further then I would like. I haven't had a problem with that on Millie however, just when I'm stupid and staple myself . -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
cprocks22 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Uh... Magnum about a week ago, front row too! It was smooth, but I swear I STILL have bruises on my legs from the restraints plus crazy insane airtime on those bunny hills. -

^Sorry I figured that would be confusing. I meant I wish I was wearing a TPR shirt so I had something noticeable on. I did see you walking around the park with the Maverick First Rider shirts on, but I had no idea you were on TPR. -

Nice TR! I think I saw you there, wish I was wearing a TPR shirt! I also got to sign the posters, they should display them or put them up in the station. The nerdy side of me found it awesome that I got to ride Gemini on it's 30th to the day. We didn't sit in a wheel seat and it was a great ride actually, compared to what I'm used to. Happy birthday Gemini!
