Yeah,I've been a pass holder since 1998(the final season of the park when it was known as Adventure world) & back then they were doing much better than they have since premier was dumb enough to purchase SFI from Time Warner.....which BTW was done because TW got int oserious trouble by neglecting SFOT & SFOG in the mid to late 90's by refusing to add new rides simply to lower the property values of the t wo parks. If SFI under Burke's control had taken care of SFA's infrastructure needs, say five years ago instead of going on a coaster building spree at SFMM,SFGRADV & SFGRAM every other season then maybe those problems could've been fixed resulting in a better park but obviously they didn't. Now since the theme park side of the property is basically getting the shaft(for the fifth year in a row) in terms of new attractions & with the park's 10th anniversary as an SF park in 2009 does anyone still hold out any hope of getting something worthwhile on that side of the park by then?

I agree but unfortunately the parks who are the ones buying the rides don't see it that way. Look at how many parks there are though that havn't got the budget for even an SLC....these are the parks where an Arrow suspended would really work wonders. -

The reason why the corkscrews were left out was because even small speed variances could've resulted in the train not having enoug henergy to make the inversion....can you imagine how it would've hurt to stall in a corscrew & then have the car slam sideways as a result? Inversions would simply have to wait until B&M developed the rigid ski-lift train design used on their inverted coaster in 1992,which of course sadly rendered Arrow's classic suspended model obsolete. -
I agreed. Maybe they can do something about Hurler once they finish Thunder road. I know Hurler is on the bottom of my list. I would love to see some improvement on the bounciness. It look like a fun coaster but painful after riding it. Not even GCI flyer trains could fix Hurler(aka firewood) it's just a poor design from the start.

I swear that color scheme just doesn't fit at all with the theme of the ride,if it weren't for Steel Force they'd be better off calling it Steel Venom....can't wait to see what tacky colors they have in store for Dominator @ KD,which judging by the new logo on the Dominator page will probably get a fresh coat of yellow & blue.

Well 2009 will be their 10th year as an SF park so maybe they've got something planned for the theme park but I sure as heck have no plans to visit in 2008.I simply could care less about what the water park gets because I don't go into that section of the park & now that SFOT's coaster drought will be broken(their last coaster was Titan back in 01) it leaves SFA as the ONLY branded park that hasn't recieved a coaster since then I think the park is long overdue for a new coaster or flats package but I doubt that corporate cares enough to make such an investment & once again I see the park as being in danger of going the GL route as a result.

They need to get off their butts & start fairly distributing rides equally to their parks or just close a few of them....this is ALL Burke's fault for spoiling SFMM,SFGRADV & SFGRAM punk rotten earlier in the decade while ignoring the remaining parks & bankrupting the chain in the process. If this keeps up SFA will become the next GL or SFAW I'm sure & this is why I won't get a season pass for 2008,five straight years in a row of neglect with nothing but ride removals & NO replacements while wasting money on only their waterpark doesn't justify the fifty dollar price tag for a pass.

Nothing new so far but they have begun ripping up the pavement in the bus parking lot so Dominator will NOT be a parking lot coaster. Go to www.kdsource.com & enter the forums to find a couple pics that were posted in the Dominator construction thread a couple weeks ago to see the pile of asphalt sitting in the lot. -

That's true, they need to get the electronics for the control system & the power systems wired on site & wired up but usually that's among the last things done during construction. The park can at least begin site work to pour footers while waiting for the electrical/mechanical components to be delivered, remember unlike Firehawk Dominator is a pretty large ride so it'll take more time than your average B&M multi-element coaster to put up. -

Yeah,I'm thinking that at this rate they'll be lucky to have the coaster up & running by memorial day....it is a pretty big ride after all. Still no updates on the official site as of yesterday when it comes to the creation of the construction page but I'll keep checking the site every so often & if I find something I'll post it here,as well as on the KD source forums. -

After the two coasters back to back that SFSTL has gotten in 07 & 08 they don't need anything else for a while.SFKK & SFA are the two parks most in need of new rides in the chain right now. -

Here is the response I recieved via email from Kings Dominion this morning. "Thank you for your recent email. Our new attraction construction pages are currently “under construction” (J) on the website and we expect the site to be posted in the very near future. Please continue to check our website for the most up to date information. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you next season." Well I emailed the park last night asking about construction updates & got an interesting response this morning. I was told that plans are in the works to update the official site with a Dominator construction page but they're still working on that....my question regarding the ride's color scheme went unanswered however. I can C&P the response that I recieved from the park here if anyone's interested in reading it as I've still got it saved in my email folder. -
Closing Down A Theme Park
KDCOASTERFAN replied to astroworldfan1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If SFI couldn't find a buyer they just would've shut SFWOA down simple as that. The park was costing them too much to operate & they weren't seeing any ROI(kinda hard to see an ROI though when they never made an investment in the place after x-flight though) & that is what led to the decline in attendance throughout CF's management. There's one o ther thing to consider here though:Of those guests who came through GL's gates a majority of them went straight for the waterpark....hence the lack of new additions & eventual demise of the ride park. People simply weren't patronizing the ride park in the numbers desired to make an ROI on expanding, let alone operating it.Ever notice how most of the coasters were always going out with half to 2/3rds empty trains? Well that certainly won't be a problem at the parks where rides like Dominator & Thunderhawk are being r elocated to because they'll definitely have the attendance needed & patronage of those rides to send them out with full trains all the time. -
Closing Down A Theme Park
KDCOASTERFAN replied to astroworldfan1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah & if CF hadn't bought it from SFI when they did SF execs would've shut it down in 2004 & then systematically relocated the rides to other parks just the same as CF is currently doing & you'd still be complaining about it. -

You forgot to add Dominator @ KD to the list. -
SFI owns the copyrights to use the B:TR name & could've done so in this case but simply chose not to at SFFT.I emailed SF to complain about a LACK of new rides being added to MY local SFpark over the past five years, not to complain about SFFT getting this ride when my homepark SFA already has an SLC to begin with.

Dominator track at KD
KDCOASTERFAN replied to Clint Novak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't get it either, here it is mid november & so far no updates at all.MIA,Dorney park & CW all have construction updates & devoted pages posted on their respective websites but so far KD doesn't.
