Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! The interesting thing about the Twins is that they are hybrid coasters. RMC has yet to do a renovation of a coaster with a previously existing steel structure (to my knowledge).

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Great video, one of the best videos I have seen of Cedar Point! The only thing that could make it better is if you included some shots besides rides, but other than that, perfect Eh, needs more Iron Dragon. But seriously, great video Josh!

Skyplex Orlando Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Thanks for doing this! Definitely provides a better idea of what the ride experience will be like.

IAAPA 2014 Live Coverage!DBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! The fact that I could refresh my Twitter feed every 10 minutes and see a new update was really exciting, and it ensured that TPR was where I would go for IAAPA coverage all week. I definitely think you made all the right decisions this time around. Thanks for the constant updates--it was a lot of fun following you all this year! Can't wait for the next one!

IAAPA 2014 Live Coverage!DBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! It's crazy to look at all of these concepts and see how much this industry has evolved in such a short amount of time. And it's especially exciting because it seems that even the most insane ideas already have buyers! Here's to hoping that all of these new projects are extremely successful, leading to more parks taking chances on unique attractions that will fuel even more growth in the industry.

Skyplex Orlando Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Repetitive how? Did we watch the same POV?

Holiday World (HW) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Is there any artwork available showing how the new pathways will be arranged so that Thunderbird is still in Holiday World and Hyena Falls is still in Splashin' Safari?

Kings Island (KI) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! The Super 8 in Mason should work just fine for you. You can't beat the location, it's incredibly cheap and the breakfast is good. I believe it was formerly a Holiday Inn.

^^Millennium's trains don't start moving at the same time.

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! ^I don't know the answer to your question, but I sure don't understand it if this is a ticket option, considering the park has a ridiculous policy where they stop allowing guests into the park at 6pm and all of the ride lines close at 6:15pm (45 minutes prior to closing time).

Holiday World (HW) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Blah, the new B&M restraints...they do increase visibility, but they substantially minimize all (non-positive g) forces and really start to dig uncomfortably into your shoulders after a couple rides. And they're not really comfortable on the first ride, to start with. Sure there's no more headbanging...but was there before? I prefer the little extra freedom, but I digress.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! ^Yessir! You can make out where the land is dug out that leads down to that footer. Sorry I didn't include the slides in the photo for better perspective.

Millennium Force is set up the same way. The waiting/holding brake is also the coaster's safety break. Overshooting that waiting/holding/safety brake would be a major issue.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Here are some photos of the construction going on at Holiday World that I took yesterday (Sunday, 6/29/14) from the Hyena Falls platform. Quite a bit of progress has been made since my last visit a week ago! Here is the row of footers that appear to be for a long, linear section of track. You can also kind of make out the "almond shape" cut into some of them in the distance. Distinct clearings have been made where the coaster will likely cross over the Voyage at two points (once before the 3rd hill, once after the 3rd hill). While riding the Voyage, you can also see where trees on the other side of the track have been cleared away for a twisting coaster path back in the woods! Here is the newest, largest footer, which was not present when I visited the park last Sunday. This thing is massive and sits right in a corner along the back end of the Hyena Falls complex. There is definitely not enough room for a full sized turn here, so I will be very interested to find out what element these footers will support. This thing is VERY close to Hyena Falls. A lot of groundwork has also taken place here in the last week. This dirt path was originally much deeper and housed those strange "dirt cubes" with rods sticking out of the top. Those are no longer present. Finally, here's an overview of the construction site. I am so unbelievably excited!

Holiday World (HW) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! You've seen the manger scene at Holiday World, right? Case closed. In addition to this, one of the park's 3 major shows is a Gospel show that they seem very proud of. Plus, Holiday World hosts a large Christian concert every year that they advertise heavily. Perhaps their "line" isn't as fine as one may think?

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Interesting color choices for SlingShot. I was hoping it would all be that deep blue.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Keep in mind that the picture of the Mack truck was shared by a TPR member and not part of the 66daysatsea campaign.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! I'm thinking a family coaster addition wouldn't entail a 66-day teaser campaign.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Maybe Leakeddd was right.... a RMC refurb is actually coming!!!! When did Gemini become a B&M?

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! How are these things safe?

Kings Island (KI) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! ^Why do you figure that? There would still be side rests/seat dividers to protect from lateral movement (slipping out the side of the train).

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion ThreadDBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! You seem like a pretty credible source so I can't wait!
