  1. Thats the BEST part! I drive 3 hours just for that half of a second.
  2. Good to know, I will make a note of what trains I ride. During FF they will be running Psyclone trains on one side so I don't know if they will be running more than one regular train.
  3. I'm only planning on being there for a few hours in the morning (I hope) so hopefully that won't affect me much.
  4. I thought the same thing but wasn't going to say anything..I would like to know what train he rode on..I heard someone else say a little while ago that they rode it recently and were surprised how much smoother it was. Last time I rode Colossus it was one of the roughest rides I've ever had..rough rides don't usually bother me but it was so bad I couldn't even enjoy the ride..this was a few years ago however, I'm hoping something has changed.
  5. How colorful. You should notify the staff if you're noticing an odor in a particular location.
  6. Are you still going on 9/2 or are you going 9/16?
  7. Current longest waits published: SEFK: 120 (This is probably exaggerated by someone who's frustrated that its a long line, Im guessing 60-90 actual) Tatsu: 65 X2: 30 LL: 30 Goliath: 30 Everything else 5 minutes or less.
  8. Just realized the day I'm planning on going to CGA is the day before Labor Day. (This coming Sunday). Can anyone who's been on the weekend before tell me what kind of lines to expect? I was planning on just a quick fly-by (no pun intended) on Flight Deck, Demon, Vortex, and Grizzly before heading down to SCBB so I'm hoping I won't be encountering any 2 hour lines. I haven't been to CGA in..15 years or so, so I have no idea what to expect this time!
  9. Facepalm. Not at you, at the park. I don't understand why they feel that is an unnecessary burden..Tatsu would be considered either the #1 or #2 flagship coaster at the park and usually has the appropriate longest or next-to-longest line in the park..it would seem to me that on this particular ride, the extra staffing cost would be justified. Exactly!! The second station just mocks us while we wait.
  10. I know I'm constantly asking myself why they went through all the time and cost to design and build that wonderful second station if they're never going to commit the resources to use it, even though it clearly needs it. Tatsu operations are the most confounding thing I've ever seen at any theme park.
  11. Yes they are which is why the park was so dead during the week last week, but on weekends there is usually no school. Sundays are probably lighter than Fri/Sat but it's still a weekend. Yes SEFK has been down for several days, I never heard why..its possible that there's a mechanical reason that one side is down, but because it is now officially the "off season" theyre are more likely to run fewer trains than normal on most rides. Next weekend might be different since it's a holiday weekend.
  12. You were surprised that there were long lines on a summer weekend? Re: Superman, it probably WAS maintenance, because the ride has been down for several days, I didnt even realize it had reopened. Re: X2 I don't believe it supports 3 train operation does it? Someone else will know.. Re: Tatsu thats the one I agree with you on. I've never been able to figure out why that run that coaster like they do.
  13. It's still not confirmed I don't believe that Premier is doing the SFMM coaster - they only confirmed they're doing a California coaster, of which two are upcoming..it's possible Premier could be doing a compact ride for SCBB and someone else could be doing the SFMM coaster. (Which is what I'm hoping - Premier for SCBB and Intamin for SFMM would make my year)
  14. Yes but theyre making all participants sign an NDA so don't expect any leaks.
  15. I still don't stop there. When I'm on the way back to Sac from SF I stop at the In-N-Out in Pinole. Take the Appling exit
  16. I believe that is the rail causing that and not the cars..makes me wonder if Eejanaika and Dinoconda have the same issue. Still, it is the one coaster they have that is definitely that unique even if it isn't everyone's favorite. I find it a bit weird that so many people look at it and go 'meh' because it still provides an experience that no other coaster (other than the two above) can provide. The thing was launched 10 years ago and still is the ride most people run to in the morning and consistently has the longest line in the park almost every single day. I don't think there's a lot of 10 year old rides out there still spinning turnstiles like that. To me that's pretty impressive even if I didn't like the ride.
  17. I havent been since the X2 upgrade (its been way too long) do you find the new trains better or worse? (I know I've said this in other threads so I apologize to those that have heard me say it already!) On the old trains I had friends and family that said what you did, that it was rough and painful, but I found it was usually because they were really short, really tall, or had the OTSR too loose and they were bouncing around. I look forward to riding the new trains in Oct and seeing how they compare to the old ones.
  18. X2 is definitely trip worthy if you've never done it before, especially as there aren't any other 4D's on this continent. I can't think of any others on the west coast that are unique or excellent enough to call trip worthy. Agree with Robb on Tatsu and Medusa. Those are both "if you're going to that park, dont miss that one" rides, but not "you have to fly out to this part of the country for this coaster" rides. From a California resident's perspective, the ones that I'm going to trip for are El Toro, I305, Kingda Ka, and Outlaw Run. I could easily ride X/X2 all day, almost did last time I was there. Found it to be the most comfortable ride in the park when restraints were on properly. (This was 2007, before X2)
  19. That's pretty much it right there...wth was so important that he had to say it right then and there?
  20. When is the last time we saw Premier build a ride with OTSRs? And nearly all of the ones they did, don't have them anymore. I wouldn't be concerned with this at all. Absolutely..and they do such a nice job. Those lab bars on SUF are awesome..so comfortable and so secure..easily the best restraints I've ever experienced. Looking at off-ride footage before I rode I was apprehensive about how that roll was going to be with only lap bars but it was perfect. I would love to see those style restraints on a lot more rides.
  21. It's still possible that the Premier facebook post could be talking about SCBB which is also getting a new coaster in 2013, in which case the SFMM coaster might not be Premier. This we will know one day sooner I believe, on the 29th. If you're an ACE member, you'll know on the 26th but you won't be able to tell us since they will be making you sign an NDA
  22. I did notice on their FB page that they were the main sponsor of an event at SFMM a while back, so the relationship is there. Of course a park like SFMM (and a chain like SF) probably has a relationship with all major ride designers regardless.
  23. I remember the day it opened in '92..I thought it was such a modern world class coaster Giant Dipper was the first coaster I ever rode, Hurricane was the second..a couple other unique memories tied to this coaster too, so I'm really sad to see it go, but glad I found out about it in time to give it a send off.
