  1. Probably SFMM a week from today, although I might be able to finagle a quick trip to Universal Studios Hollywood on Wednesday.
  2. Ohhh man, that makes me want to go to Cedar Point so bad! As for SFGAm, I agree that Viper kicks butt. Totally underrated woodie, in my opinion. Same goes for the Eagle-- I mean really, that is one beautiful coaster, with that breathtaking helix. I must stop reading all these sexy descriptions of Maverick. That coaster is starting to haunt my dreams. I have to ride it before the year is out.
  3. Work has been CRAZY this year. So far, only: Buffalo Bill's in Primm (to ride Desperado) The Park at MOA Disneyland DCA I was with a non-enthusiast friend in Vegas and I sadly never took the time to do the TOGO or the Adventuredome. Next month I'm going to: SFMM Knott's Valleyfair! And I hope to do the Halloweekend thing at CP-- my first-ever visit.
  4. I agree with some of his points, even though I've been enjoying Six Flags parks since I was in diapers. Yeah, the Disney comparison is totally unwarranted, but the Six Flags experience overall can be chaotic, crowded and (depending on the park) dirty. And you ain't gonna get your ass kissed by the staff. Put it this way: There are certain parks are so pleasant and attractive that they hold up even if you don't take the rides into account. But I only go to Six Flags for the rockin' coasters; I wouldn't enjoy myself there otherwise because the ambiance and customer service are lacking. I can imagine it sucks even more for the less-informed GP. That being said, the rides are still totally worth it for me.
  5. Wow, I think the only "away" coaster I ever rode in its debut season was Talon at Dorney. That was some buttery B&M goodness, let me tell you.
  6. My dog woke me up this morning with a series of "wet willies." I know most people wouldn't like having a dog's tongue in their ear canal, but it's just so hilarious. Best alarm clock ever!
  7. Very enjoyable TR! I'm heading to Minneapolis for a few days next month and I can't wait to ride Renegade for the first time. I have a soft spot for Steel Venom because it was my first LIM coaster and it scared the sh*t outta me! Timberland Twister is a good family coaster for sure. Every time I ride it I'm surprised by how well it delivers.
  8. Even my 8-year-old stepdaughter (who is a Minneapolis-based coaster nut) thinks the idea of a Sponge Bob Eurofighter is lame. She was excited about the Avatar theme. Plus, the Timberland Twister has a sunny orange color scheme. We can safely assume that the Sponge Bob coaster will be yellow or similarly cartoonish. A darker, more sleek-looking coaster at MOA would have been nice. Still, I'm really psyched that the Park is getting a major revamp. You can only ride the Twister so many times and the Pepsi Ripsaw frankly sux.
  9. I'm torn. On one hand, I tend to thumb my nose at "progress" in classic parks. Maintenance/cleanliness is one thing-- completely destroying the vibe is another. Ghetto or not, Coney is still a magical place. It's pure New York. I love the rowdy ride operators, the shady characters on the boardwalk, and the romantic, shambolic quality of the parks. My avatar is me exiting the Zipper at Coney; unfortunately I cropped out the stoned-looking ride op! However, Coney/Astroland was probably destined for destruction otherwise. This was one of those evolve-or-die scenarios. So with that in mind, I'm pleased that some attention is being paid to this legendary place.
  10. ^ I love Laser. Those Schwarzkopf loops make me gray out. My last coaster was California Screamin', which is a good description of what my petrified, non-enthusiast husband did the entire time.
  11. I have to reprezizzle for the Midwest-- Wild Thing all the way! Hooray for the floater hill. It never ceases to make me giggle that there's an accompanying kiddie coaster called "Mild Thing." C'mon, you can't just come out and TELL children that it sucks!
  12. Greetings! I'm an immature 29-year-old who's most of her life straddling the line between "slightly geeky about coasters" and "full-on, unabashed enthusiast." I think I've officially crossed over to the dark side now. My home park was SFGAm for many years, but I recently relocated to Los Angeles. I'm planning my first trip to SFMM next week and can't friggin' wait. My favorite coaster ever is the Phoenix at Knoebels. I also dig wooden twisters, anything Schwarzkopf, and "what the hell is that doing here?" coasters like Desperado and Megafobia. I really like the vibe of this site. I've never posted to a coaster forum before, so I'm glad to be among "my people."
