  1. Nice pictures! Especially the Raptor ones. We did the same trip last autumn with Swedish Coaster Inspection. Unfortunately we picked the wrong year and missed the Raptor . But Katun and iSpeed kicked ass though
  2. I'm 47 and the first coaster i rode was the Super 8 @ Liseberg in the early 70s. Super 8 was a Schwarzkopf Wildcat 54m and it was love from the beginning (that is - after i overcome my fear ). I owe my love for coasters to Super 8. Lovely Super 8
  3. Lisebergsloopen @ Liseberg. Think it was during its 1st season (1980) and i was 16. Remember that i was pretty nervous before riding but afterwards it was kind of an antiklimax. The loop wasn't scary at all, just fun. Those were the days, back in the 80s...
  4. Cobra @ Tivoli Friheden, Denmark. Derailed after a few days of operating. Guess we'll never hear from Ride Tek Engineering again... The Zamperla Volare - took roughness to new levels (even a SLC seems smooth when comparing)... Screaming Squirrel - The mother of crap. Totally meaningless! HRP - what a waste of money. What happened?
  5. Boomerangs are not very popular here. Well i've only ridden Cobra at Power Park. My friend called it "A f***** machine from hell" La Via Volta at Walibi was closed when we visited. Should i be thankful...? I have also ridden Tornado at Sommerland Syd, probably the best Vekoma i've experienced.
  6. Don't forget Tuff-tuff Tåget - only for the brave ones
  7. Over time i would say Jetline at Gröna Lund. Not my favourite coaster though but it's in my backyard and it's old like me Most ridden at a specific moment? It would be Troy at Toverland, one insane Saturday afternoon. At 18 i stopped counting...
  8. Hmmm, guess there's always time for a short trip to denmark...
  9. Are they your sisters? Nope, just friends.
  10. The twisteeee Twister - Gröna Lund, May 1st ...and a special bonus - my son with the famous Twister Twins
  11. Theme parks and coasters are quite common in my dreams. Recently i've been having the same dream over and over. I'm going to some park with a lot of cool coasters i haven't tried before, just to find out when i arrive that at least 50% of them are down due to maintenence. And we're really talking maintenence here - accelerators with the whole top hat missing for example. One weird dream i had about 6 months ago included an Intimidator 305 clone. The color was blue and it's name was - Big Daddy. Too bad i woke up when i was heading up the lift hill...
  12. There are some really cool Intamin rides that i adore but unfortunately they have also made some rides that do not deliver in my opinion. An example of that is Insane that i think lack the smoothness that you're used to when it comes to Intamin (actually i think Kirnu is a better ride). Their accelerators really delivers...when they're not down due to technical problems or maintenence. Thats why my vote goes to B&M, the Rolls Royce of coasters. Unbeatable when it comes to smoothness and reliability. And as has been stated here earlier - they age very well.
  13. Come on man, Gröna Lund has been on the same spot since 1883. The day will come when you grow into a handsome, responsible and hardworking man and won't have to rely on what your parents say. When that day comes, i promise - Gröna Lund still stands
  14. Those plans are still at work, hopefully we'll see them realised 2013 or 2014 (They've actually been talking about 2012 as well but i wouldn't count on that). Now that i've finally experienced Twister and the surroundings i would say that there's also plenty of room for some more coasters inside the existing park And the owners seem to have the heart in the right place. So, all you drooling coastermaniacs out there - be prepared! Gröna Lund (and perhaps the Twins) will be back
  15. Gröna Lund, Twister B-Roll event (+bonus - Jet Line and Kvasten), May 1st
  16. And the new coaster for Furuvik 2011 is.......TA DA! Alton Towers old Jet Star 2 a.k.a. Black Hole, refurbished by Gerstlauer. Well they had a lot of plans for 2011 but only 25 million SEK (4.2 million USD). But it's definitely a move in the right way. Maybe a brand new coaster within 3 to 4 years?
  17. This has also earned you a new forum ranking! Enjoy! Awesome! If i'm able to convert my wife and her twinsister from "no-coasters" to "pro-coasters" it means that my staff of coaster-twins increases by 100%. But that's going to be a hard one (except for kiddie rides and wild mouse coasters).
  18. Yes i am! As a manager I'm also promoting the fantastic Twister Twins.
  19. I think I'm going to use this to help promote "TPR Media Services!" Can i call myself "Official Twin Supplier" now Robb? Thank you for an amazing day at Gröna Lund. Twister was awesome and i guess we'll have a winner among the swedish parks this year - Gröna Lund!
  20. Since Parks & Resorts Scandinavia got new owners some years ago, they've been very open with information concerning coming attractions. For example, with new coasters we've seen websites with webcams, pictures, animated videos, statistics and building blogs. With the new expansion/investment in Furuvik - not much so far. BUT - at least we now have a name for the coaster: ROCKET! Does this sound like something launched anyone?
  21. If you're fluent swedish you'll find this article interesting: http://gd.se/nyheter/jobbpengar/1.2547403-25-miljoner-ska-lyfta-furuvik However, if you're not familiar to this not-so-widely-spoken language i can tell you that Furuvik and their new owners Parks & Resorts Scandinavia invests about 25MSEK in the park for 2011, Furuviks biggest investment so far. Not much is known yet but CEO Tom Widorsson reveals that there's going to be a new coaster for Furuvik and (this is promising) it's going to be a tough one.
  22. Trombi at Särkänniemi Sequoia Adventure at Gardaland
  23. That's really good and comforting news for a middle-aged kid! And by the way - my friend told me that he and his father-in-law rode Insane and Fritt Fall (drop tower) at Gröna Lund this year. His father-in-law is 74 - inspiring! Yes i suspected that with all that effort put in the arrangements. Well, there's still time - i'm not even close to 74 I think that is a brilliant idea. My wife may have a different opinion though...there will probably be some discussions concerning compensation (say 2 weeks on a quiet island without kids)
  24. Just returned from Italy where we visited Mirabilandia and Gardaland. But at Gardaland we found ourselves a little confused about Fuga de Atlantide - is it a coaster or not? It's quite similar to the Mack water rides don't you think? So is there a solid definition for a Roller Coaster? Another example: compare the Intamin Half Pipe coaster with Zamperlas Disk-O. Can someone please shed some light upon this issue? Going up the lift hill, but is it a coaster...? First drop, and yes there's steel under the water.
  25. I love Slc's especially Blue Tornado hehe that's quiet odd I rode it front row and back row, with pressing my body against the resistance No headache or inujuries ♥slc's Well, if you've been on Katun the day before Blue Tornado you surely notice the difference. If Vekoma is the Ford of Roller Coasters, B&M is the Rolls Royce
