  1. In Manistee, gas jumped 50 cents in one day! It went up to $3.48 for the cheap stuff. It is almost a one company show up here. I watched the local news and they said that gas was only supposed to be $3.27. So, that company should be in trouble for gas gouging.
  2. On Friday afternoon (8/26), I got to Gurnee after going through very heavy traffic in downtown Chicago. The hotel was so close that we (Me, my sister, my sister's boyfriend, my mom, and my dad) walked over to the park. On Saturday (8/27), we went to Great America and we got there at opening time (10:00 CDT). If you've ever been to SFGAm, you will have noticed that at least one in ten people in the park were either black and/or obese. Boy, was it crowded! The first coaster was: Whizzer (#35) Whizzer had around a 15 minute wait. My mom was waiting for the big drop, but it never came. (I sat on my mom!) After that, we went to: Viper (#36) OH MY GOD! This is as good as Shivering Timbers. My only gripe is the not-very-orderly waiting procedure. (See Magnum line to imagine what I'm talking about.) We all got ejector air time on this ride. We then queued up for: Raging Bull (#37) This is a very good coaster, probably the best at Great America. Signs say that the front row closes prior to all other rows and that the front row will be waiting a lot longer than rows 2-9. Then, my sister, her boyfriend, and I queued up for Giant Drop. We ended up sitting next to a retarded man. It feels like you're going to slam into the ground until the brakes kicked in. Then I ran up the queue for River Rocker and sat next to a little kid. I didn't puke on the ride. Then, Dad and I headed for: Demon (#38) This is a fun little coaster. This is like Corkscrew @ Cedar Point + extra loop + tunnels - corkscrews over midway. Then it was time for lunch. After lunch, we all headed for: American Eagle Forwards (#39) American Eagle is like Mean Streak meets Shivering Timbers. The queue was around one hour for an overrated ride. Next on the list was: Iron Wolf (#40) Mom stayed off this coaster and Dad had to leave because he couldn't fit. (Good move Mom for staying off this ride!) The worst B&M ever! I call this VPSE, which stands for Very Primitive Swiss Engineering. TAER IRON WOLF DOWN! Batman: the Ride (#41) Dad didn't fit, but Mom and the rest of the gang rode Batman. It is my favorite inverted coaster. After that, we left for the night. We came back the following morning (8/28) and got in line for: Superman: Ultimate Flight (#42) Everyone fit on this ride comfortably. I thought I was going to fall out of the ride. Did you see the amount of personal belongings on the brake run? Then we headed back to Viper and Raging Bull, then went to the NASCAR show, and then Dad and I rode the Sky Trek Tower. We left for dinner and came back at around 6:00 (minus Dad) and Mom and I headed towards Demon, only to find it closed. So, we went in line for: Deja Vu (#43) Quite good for a Vekoma coaster. Not much headbanging. The boarding procedure was very good. Fun Fact: We waited longer for Iron Wolf and American Eagle than for Deja Vu. Closed Rides: Ice Mountain Splash: Both days Vertical Velocity: Both days Scenic Railway Hometown Station: Both days Trailblazer: Sunday morning Stargate SG-3000: Sunday Demon: Sunday afternoon Condor: Sunday morning Splash Water Falls: Sunday morning American Eagle Backwards: Saturday and Sunday morning Rumors: Vertical Velocity won't be back next year. Iron Wolf won't be back next year.
  3. I think I'm starting on the 6th of September. If not then, we would be starting September 12th.
  4. 1st time: Mark Twain. 2nd time: Space Mountain. 3rd time: Indiana Jones. 4th time: Tram.
  5. My local carnival (it runs July 4th weekend and is about 1/2 mile from my house) is possibly the world's dirtiest carnival. Even the county fair carnival (in late August) is better.
  6. What is your favorite coaster that is at least 25 years old? My favorite old coaster is Blue Streak at Cedar Po!nt.
  7. I am part English, Scottish, German, and maybe more. At least I'm not part Polish or French!
  8. What is the worst Vekoma coaster? I say Rock 'n Roller Coaster at MGM Studios. I came off that ride with a headache.
  9. What do you think is the worst Arrow coaster ever? I say Corkscrew at Michigan's Adventure.
  10. Why do you use Weird Al a lot?
  11. I am going to Great America near Chicago in about three weeks. What rides shall I ride for sure and what rides shall I avoid?
  12. Sky Tower, Metro, and Orient Express probably will have to be removed for new construction. When did Skytower last operate? When did Metro last operate?
  13. I have seen people post about credit whoring all over the boards. I have two questions. 1. What is credit whoring? 2. Am I a credit whore? I have ridden: 15 of 16 coasters at Cedar Point (missing Jr. Gemini) 5 of 6 coasters at Michigan's Adventure (missing Big Dipper) 3 of 3 coasters at WDW Magic Kingdom 1 of 1 coaster at WDW MGM Studios 0 of 1 coasters at Animal Kingdom (missing Primeval Whirl) 1 of 2 coasters at Camp Snoopy (missing Timberline Twister) That means I have ridden 25 coasters and hope to have ridden 35 coasters by Labor Day.
  14. In Manistee, we had almost four inches of rain in one hour on Sunday morning. On Tuesday morning, I got 2 1/2 additional inches of rain. That's almost 7 inches of rain in two days!
  15. I live in Manistee, Michigan. Michigan's Adventure= 1 1/4 hours Cedar Point= 6 hours Great America= 5 1/2 hours
  16. I'm going to be at Great America 2 weeks later, the 26th and 27th to be exact.
  17. I'm not that big of a credit whore. I haven't been on a SLC or a Boomerang, but in about four weeks I will hopefully add Deja Vu. Christian "Can't wait to go to SFGAm in four weeks!" P.
  18. Do you think Steel Dragon 2000 will ever reopen? ADMIN EDIT: Please do not add things like this to the calendar, thanks. Added other options to this poll as it didn't quite make sense.
  19. Six Flags is just trying to set a date for the scrap man to come over. They're waiting for Hurricane Harbor to close for the winter.
  20. From the pictures I've seen, mainland European parks can range from very nice to very crappy. I can't stop laughing when I read the trip reports. Many of those rides wouldn't be allowed in America because of the sue-happy attitude of the Americans.
