They also need to update the Excalibur listing. It shows September 14 (that was a Sunday last year—this year would be the 13th) being the last day of operation. -

I'd rather see an Enterprise, the rides are classics, it would give the park their first Inverting Flat, which they need. I just rode an Enterprise for the first time a few weeks ago and they are fun! Plus a Scream N' Swing I think is too similar to Delirium for my liking... They used to have an Enterprise (A HUSS Skylab, actually) Flight Commander, and of course, Tomb Raider. So they have had inverting flats in the past. Zamperla is apparently working on a ride called "Endevour" which is like an Enterprise. I wouldn't mind that, a two-sweep Hawk (Aero 360) and maybe a large Tea Cup ride to round off Coney Mall. -
Yes, Rye was in "Big". Lakemont and Degrossos... right... 30 minutes from each other, might as well. The Flight 93 Memorial is out that way, too, in case you're interested. Waldameer is about an hour and fifteen from Conneaut. Pretty sure both take tickets, but Waldameer has a lot of cool stuff to do so you might want a POP. Problem is, is Pennsylvania's got SO MANY great parks and pieces of history, you just can't see them all.

Right, I have been looking at the close parks nearby. I might as well grab as many parks as I can in the area. I have to be selective, I don't care about going out of my way for a Dragon wagon... That's not me anymore. My all-time record was 28 parks in 8 days when a group of us drove from C-bus to DC and hit six flags America and went up the coast to Maine -

^ Beat me to it! Like said above, Monster is coming back together. I spoke with a maintenance fella today and we talked a little about the ride. About 6 weeks ago, I posed a trip report (in this thread) about a couple of light bulbs breaking by catching the ground on the lowest-most sweeps and that was a red-flag to them that something was wrong with the center bearing and the ride was shut down, (I even said it was strange to see it as it never should happen) with center oscillator and bearings removed for about a month. Fast forward to today: The new center part is none other than the same part of the Monster from Worlds of Fun, who took out theirs this past winter. I shocked the maintenance guy when i mentioned Worlds of Fun removed theirs, and he said yes, that's the same part. So now it's a matter of a few days to probably a week before this gets going again. They had all 6 "arms" hanging by 4pm today and I had spoken to him around noon. The infamous broken light bulb from May 3rd, 2015 Center oscillator and post installed Center oscillator and post installed Hanging the last Arm Tubs awaiting their installation view from the tower Working hard. -

Do any of you Valleyfair locals think the Screamscape rumor of Excalibur getting removed is looking like a reality? I know you can only take so much from Screamscape, but I've found that they are about 85-90% right. Sometimes it takes a while to have all the facts line up, but many lead back to their first assumptions. Part two of my question is, say that it is true, when in the year do they normally close down that section of the park, or are all rides (sans waterpark) running through the Haunt? Since I'm in Columbus, Ohio, it's quite the venture to get up that way, and I have never been. But with my Platinum pass and dining plan, now is as good a time as any. -

These are great updates so far! Thank you for sharing your vacation experiences with us! -
Enterprise was a bit of a different problem. It was testing prior to park opening last year and a part went bad. Many HUSS rides around the country had downtime due to getting parts. If I were a betting man, my bet would be that T3 will open between June 21 and July 4. They seem to push the reopening date up about 3 days at a time, so hopefully that will give them enough time to do what they need to do.

Is King's Island Essential?
John Peck replied to sirspud's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
True ... KI does have some similar rides to Carowinds, but the experiences are much, much different. There are a lot of discount tickets available, since money is an option. What is your home park? If you had a platinum pass and had the monthly payment plan, you would get the free parking and in-park discounts, and pay for it over a 6-month period (if it's still available, of course) Edit: I just noticed you are from Florida, so a platinum pass wouldn't really be worth it unless you hit 3 or 4 cedar fair parks -

I know that they replaced the entire control system on Magnum last season, but I don't know if that is still effected by the rain or not. I'm sad to see the popularity of Magnum wane so much - two trains yesterday - removal of the very far back queue - less park merchandise with Magnum on it - even missing on some of the "fearsome five" t-shirts, replaced with Rougorou Kings island has been printing some retro ride t-shirts, would love to see the Point do that with some of their old and past rides. -

I was there today as well and will confirm a few things previously posted: - No visible ground work in the cleared areas yet - Yellow train is back on Millennium, though it's sitting on the back storage track - Wicked Twister was indeed testing - Gemini was racing and racing well, they had it timed pretty well to be neck-n-neck - Panda Express is now on the dining plan - Skyhawk had a couple of cherry pickers working on what looked like the top arch, it was closed all day - All three water rides looked closed - I am very pleased with the way Rougouru turned out, I rode it 4 times.... that's more in one day than I have ridden it as Mantis in 5 or 6 years combined. - Ate at pinks for the first time, pretty good, I had the Chicago Dog. Any better suggestions? -

We were there yesterday and yes, it really seemed to be a "Miss" for the park. I've only gone a couple of opening days, but this year compared to last year were like night and day. First off, I am not really mad, but just a little frustrated. Rides break down and there are opening day issues, and it seemed as though many rides that were down eventually opened. The rides having downtime but eventually opening were: Power Tower, Maxair, Magnum, Gemini, Corkscrew, Maverick, Witches Wheel, skyride, and the Giant wheel. Floorless-Banshee* and Millennium opened a little bit late. Floorless Banshee* was really good. The new trains make for a much better ride, and it seemed like it was getting a lot of cheers. The inclined loop is really intense, it caught me off guard a bit. We got in at 9am and ran to it (walked fast, actually) and it was cycling and opened at 9:20. We waited under 20 minutes. I got a first-rider pin. There were also rides being "Commissioned" (run x amount of times in order to be approved by the state) which i never heard of on opening day. The had to "Commission" Calypso and Dodgem 100 times a piece since they were "new" rides. Other rides looked to being commissioned as well, Including Witches wheel and Mean Steak as they ran empty all day, but I heard Witches Wheel opened. Rides that never opened for us were: Twister, half of Skyhawk, Windseeker and Slingshot. (There may have been some kiddie rides as well.) So all in all, it was a pretty bad day for the rides, but with hearing about the drop in testing budgets, I can see where this all makes sense now. It's still very disappointing, but if weather was a factor or having problems getting employees, I totally understand. Also remember, the park had a TON of off-season projects going on, more than almost every other season. Gazebo demolished, Good Time Theater demolished, Sweet Spot Candy store put in, 3.. yes 3 rides moved and refurbished, 2 rides removed, the Breakers refurbished as well as the Breakers parking lot, and the Lakeside Pavilions. I'm sure I missed others. Other things: Computers were down, so the meal plan was jacked, and they had a restaurant listed on the website that offered it, and it didn't accept it. We did get food, and it was good. All in all, it was a C- to D+ day, though the employees were all very nice and they looked to try their best. In conclusion, it's hard to say it was a truly bad day because in the end, we were at one of the greatest amusement parks in the world, and we should be fourtunate. Hope our next trip is better. *Some of you will get the joke, others will say: Banshee? huh? Wrong Park! -

Made my third trip of the season today and it was a great day at some parts, strange at others... First and foremost... Invertigo is up and running again, though it did have some downtime today. Also, It has been confirmed, Chick-Fil-a AND Panda Express are part of the meal plan. I don't know about the other Cedar Fair parks, but at KI they are. Beware of the Orange Chicken at Panda... it's a bit spicy. Now for the strange: While standing in line for Monster, the ride was operating and all of a sudden we heard glass break, apparently, a sweep got just close enough to the ground where a light bulb hit and broke. The ride op went over and swept it up once the cycle ended like it was nothing. I've never seen that happen—ever. Now onto the pics.... broken bulb came off one of the lower sweeps sweet shop goodies Flying bEagles Coney Mall sign still M.I.A. Do you know where is this is at? 3... 2... 1... Viking Fury! If the Crypt building ever comes down, that could open space to a new coaster there, no? 80's store is back, near La Rosa's on International Street -

Most of the Larson Flyers come standard with that type of belt, and the park can choose if they want to or not. Knowing Cedar Fair, they just went with what the manufacturer suggested. Hersheypark and Cedar Point both have those belts, but not the Columbus Zoo (yet). -
Poor Jacks brought their beautiful Zipper to the Allen County Fair (Ohio) last year, and at age 40, I wasn't sure if I would be up for it, but I gave it a go. Still fun and intense. They also brought their beautiful Sky Wheel, which was the sole purpose for that trip. Sky Wheel POV

I was there yesterday as well, but brought the camera in for the second half of the day. We purchased the season-long dining plan for the first time, and the computer was having some issues syncing to website renewals, but I think they got it fixed by the time we had our second meal. Festhaus ran out of ketchup at around 6:30 pm. The Flyers or "Flying bEagles" (courtesy of Dave Althoff) were "just okay" for my two rides (25 and 40 minute waits). I'm not saying they are bad, these felt like they were on a medium speed (compared to other Larson models I have been on), so they were a bit hard to snap, so I got just a slight cable slacking, the cycle was also 1:30, which by the time you got a good rhythm, it was ending, so I'm sure adjustments will be made. The Coney Mall sign is down, but Don said it will return. Took a spin through the new shops.. Sweet Spot, Funnel cake, and starbucks, they all looked great. The recently refurbished Shake Rattle and Roll looks and runs great, but there seems to be a hydraulic shakey-feel as the arms lift. Invertigo like mentioned is down, and the area has a portable fence around it, you can see the cable that is hanging off the lift in one of my photos. The smoking area has had the waterfall removed and the area has been slightly cleaned up and a bit beautified. The waterfall has been removed and there is new concrete leading to Coney Mall Some trees removed around SR&R Spring is here! SR&R has sort of a new observation area New sign! You can see the LED light fixture, but the lights aren't in just yet. Never Forget Hungry Dino likes to eat Drop Towers! You can see the cable dangling off Invertigo Land of the free, home of the brave.
