  1. Word on the street is that it won't be open until the end of April. Of course.
  2. I haven't been able to take pictures, as I don't have a camera, but when I drove past there last week, I saw the dragon wagon train sitting out near the clearing where the coaster will go. I don't know about the mini-golf status, but things still look to be on-par. I would guess an early April (meaning like the second week) would be still a go for opening. It looks pretty good to me.
  3. See, I'm so happy to see coasters like this still being built throughout the world, because coasters like this, re-affirm my faith in truly amazing rides. Some of the US coasters, as intense they may have seen, have really disappointed me recently, because so few of them are being built to the quality like this ride. It's well done, well laid out, and sexy as hell. Every year there is at least one of them, but this one I'm super excited for.
  4. This is hands down the sexiest coaster of the year!
  5. Love your trip reports! Always well done! Thanks for sharing!
  6. To celebrate Valentines day, the band Garbage (Only Happy When it Rains, I Think I'm Paranoid, Special, When I Grow Up, ect)... have released a snippit song very appropriately named "I Hate Love", from their upcoming album to be releaced May 15. All the art work in the video were submited by fans with a special "Love/Hate" theme. Enjoy:
  7. Not to deter the conversation of your awesome TR, but Mexico in general gets a bad rap. Yes, there are dangers that are pretty public, but like Paul said, stay far away from the borders and you'll be okay. A lot of work has been done to secure violence in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and the Yucatan Penisula in the south. I think a lot of attention is still being focused on those areas, as those are the essential areas for the Mexican Government and Mexican Military to control. With so much outburst with violent over guns and drugs along the border, it's also safe to say there are scarry areas along the US side of the border too. I was born in Mexico, and have a lot of family and friends who still live in Mexico, but none of them are in any danger. I am still planning a vacation this Christmas to go back (and party with the Mayans for Dec. 21st), and really want to encourage everyone to go to Mexico. It's a country SO rich in culture. If there is any one city I suggest going to, it would be Guadalajara. It's the cultural hub for tequila, cowboys, and mariachi music. D.F. also is a must see city. It is the second or third largest city in the world, so do be careful with travel, but you should be fine as long as you're not the typical 'ignorant American'. Viva Mexico!
  8. Nice TR Paul! Glad you made it okay and made it to BOTH! Job well done! God I miss Mexico.
  9. These results seem pretty fair to me. El Toro is a fan favorite, and it's not a shocker at all that it remains up at top. When you have such power house coasters up at top, it really is a toss up to me. They're all #1 in my book. I love doing Mitch's polls, and am now really looking forward to the Steel Poll!
  10. ^Brian, just join it now. You know you want to. Going into a spiraling debt isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to seem, it's just media hype .
  11. Zoomers announced an opening date and the addition of a mini-golf course as well, to round out the "family experience" Read the Full article. Source: The News Press: http://www.news-press.com/article/20120118/BUSINESS/120118020?odyssey=mod%7Cmostcom
  12. The one in Port Charlotte is only open on the weekends. There's also one in Naples. They're all Dragon Wagons. I'm literally going to be surrounded by Dragon... Wagons.
  13. Looks like Zoomers has an April opening date, which I think is foolish, because that is the end of tourist season, but hey, at least it's opening. I've posted a link to a video by our local NBC news which did a story on the construction update. www.nbc-2.com/video?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=6651352 I would highly recommend getting on this coaster before they go under. I've seen so many businesses go under when they open too late in season, and then have to cut back and suffer through the off season. No one comes to Southwest Florida over the summer. It's just too dang hot. I do hope the best for them though, and wish them the best. We desperately need more attractions in our neck of Florida. (Side note, Sanibel Island just named the number 1 destination in the world according to Frommers! This park is located only 10 minutes from the island)
  14. I'm guessing it'll be a choose your own adventure type thing with a group. I doubt it'll be a "one person in charge" kind of thing, I'm assuming more of a, choose this line for these features, ect. Or something a long those lines, so you and your group can learn how the customization of the Chevy lines work. If it is like the "One person in charge" kind of thing, I bet it'll be something along the lines of Spaceship Earth. Just my thoughts.
  15. ^Just come down to Ft. Myers, and I'll drive us all down to Naples. Belive it or not, I don't have any of the coaster credits around me. How sad am I?
  16. ^And another good reason to come down and visit me!
  17. ^It's human nature to not want to let go of something, but as I always say: Cut the effing cord woman! It was definitely time for this ride to go. I think the next to go should be Fifel/Woody Woodpecker kid area. Kids don't even know who they are anymore. Re-vamp the kids' area with a new interactive play place! And I'd hate to say it, but ET after that.
  18. I wouldn't be shocked to see it start today. I'm sure one of us will head over to the park in the next week or two and get some sort of an update. Amity is already all boarded up with walls. They wasted no time getting started with the progress.
  19. So we have the coaster. Sorry to all of those hoping for a Schwarzkopf, but it's just a family coaster. This is perfect for our area though, and should be a pretty good fit. I asked them on their Facebook page what it was going to be, and this is the reply I got: Done, and done. Excited for Fort Myers' first coaster credit! Edit: This is the exact ride: http://www.rcdb.com/2952.htm
  20. ^It was meant as a joke... But if those subtle clues are right, I'm sure Jurassic will go to be to Potterville Part 3. Because apparently it's the only movie in the world right now. Still. And ever.
  21. ^ I worry we're getting our hopes up too. They also say that a tilt-a-whir is a thrill ride for both young and old. Just saying. While, I can only DREAM of a Swartz in my home town, I highly doubt it. It's probably a roller skater or something of the sort. The only two other coasters in the area are Dragon Wagons. So comparatively, a roller skater would be an upgrade. Though we will see. We. Will. See.
  22. Ok, so I've tried to do some follow up with them recently. It is true about the coaster coming from Texas. Apparently it's going to be called "Cobra", or could also used to have been called Cobra, but my RCDB search doesn't find anything from Texas being larger than an Orient Express. They simply just put it as the "Cobra Roller Coaster" and said that it was purchased from Texas. I'm still trying to find out more. I'm in the process of trying to get them to join the Southwest Florida Attractions Association, which should be exciting. This is a great park for the Fort Myers area to be getting, as the seasonal demographics are perfect. We're all looking forward to this park emerging.
