  1. Pickles are DONE!!!! Today was pickling day! Made four jars of pickles with a couple of jalapenos thrown in for some heat. Also had enough jalapenos and other hot peppers from my garden to do one small jar of those. I coined most of the pickles, but also did some spears and chunks. The hard part is that I need to wait 10 days to properly "cure" before I can eat them!
  2. ^That looks great - and the video was pretty good too! I've been in a "Fuzz" mood today...and I love this song & video. lol
  3. ^ I really like that photo of the first drop of MT - thanks for sharing. The only thing that you missed out by not riding SoB is a chiropractor bill that your insurance wouldn't cover. It literally was the most painful, horrible coaster that I have ever ridden in my entire life. I am soooo glad that Banshee took it's place!
  4. Wow...it looks like I am really going to have to make a more concerted effort to finally get to this park next season. This looks like it's going to be yet another great addition to SDC!
  5. I agree with others...what a bunch of horrible, horrible people we have living in this world anymore. First I see all of the bulls%it going on in Charlottesville when I open my browser (which is likely going to be coming to a town near all of us soon, unfortunately) and then I see that comment section. My first thought on seeing that swing design was "If the Sky Screamer rides were built more "solid" like that, I would likely be more apt to ride one." Until the mishap, of course. Eeeep. Hope everyone is going to be okay and that they can get the park reopened and everything operating safely. Amusement parks are everywhere & they should always be safe havens for families and members of ALL AGES, GENDERS & NATIONALITIES to go to in order to relieve a little stress/tension and just to have some much-needed fun.
  6. ^ Maybe it's the Franki Valli and the 4 Seasons version? That was a pretty popular song back in the day...
  7. ^ That sounds about right...but ya know what they say about not being able to polish a turd!
  8. ^ Gotta try to eat right every now and again, Bill! My Dad just gave me tons of cucumbers and a recipe for the best pickles that I have ever had. I'm going to the store tomorrow to buy vinegar so that I can get to canning some of these bad boys! He got the recipe from a woman that sells them at the local flea market - apparently winning several ribbons at the county fairs for 'Best Pickles'. I told my Dad that they are like crack...they are soooooo addicting!
  9. OMG...that is the Chairplane that used to be at Midway Park (my "hometown" park)! I used to love that ride as a kid - it seemed to run quite fast, although when it was here it had brightly painted red wooden chairs. Great report!
  10. ^ Nice! They could make something like that here in the shape of a dog turd and call it: 'Celebrating our current President of the United States!'
  11. I'm already craving another one of those pastrami subs, Bill! Will probably take more of the chips in with my lunch tomorrow or Thursday - although I am trying to eat a little healthier now that fresh fruit and veggie season is finally here!
  12. Hehe - I told you to be prepared! Glad that you had a great time. When me and my buddy saw them in Seattle, the opening band was Melvins dressed in costumes and wigs and going by a different name - but there was no denying that it was King Buzzo...kinda hard to not recognize him! But yeah, my ears were ringing for days and we weren't anywhere near the stacks of speakers - nor the stage.
  13. ^ & ^^ Congrats to you both!!!
  14. Great additions without subtractions - good move, Hershey!
  15. Looking forward to this one, Andrew! Note to self - avoid Badlands while in Philly
  16. I agree that there are some rather interesting people in that area, but I'll go to Dollywood and Gatlinburg any chance that I get. Yeah, I would have been freaked out by the ranting Southern Baptist. Loving your reports...keep 'em coming!
  17. Nice report, Bert...you're disposable cameras got a lot of very good photos!
  18. ^ Haha...that's cool!
  19. Wow...I can't believe that it's been over a year since I have posted in this thread. How time flies when your (not) having fun. Anyway, I ran into these today whilst picking up a couple of subs for lunch at a local deli and garden store...Chickie's & Pete's Crabfries potato chips! While no where near as good as the fries, they weren't bad. Kinda like a saltier version of barbeque chips. But the pastrami sub....OMG! Getting ready to feast! Best pastrami sub ever.
  20. It really sucks that I got f%cked out of moving to Tampa and working there. I probably would have had a 2nd home at BGT as that is probably my favorite park in the world (or at least tied with CP). Still bitter about that entire ordeal. Mich Ultra labeled as a premium beer? True definition of klassy right there.
  21. Wow...this looks like a sh%t-ton o' fun! Just another reason why I need to visit this awesome-looking park really soon after reading some of the TR's on here.
  22. I think that the key to good Primanti Bros. is to not get their "famous" burger...go with the other options like the roast beef, pastrami or corned beef and it tastes a hell of a lot better! As far a Wawa vs Sheetz, I like them both for the variety. TBH, I have never eaten any of the hot food at either, but I do like their selection of chopped fresh fruit, cheeses...the selection is very nice. But now that I think about it, Wawa has free ATM, so they win. Great report...looking forward to Knoebels!
  23. Hmmm...Dragon's Challenge removal and now the interesting sounding food at the water park. Not a fan of either decision, but if hardly anyone was riding the coaster and people weren't ordering the food, then I guess it makes sense to go with something more popular.
  24. That is what is scary to me - people not taking their job responsibilities seriously enough. I'm not going to go into a ton of details here, but I have witnessed this type of thing where corners get cut due to staffing, or the person responsible for inspections was overloaded with work for whatever reason and it got brushed aside, even though the check boxes were ticked that the inspections were performed. It's very scary to think about something like this happening in the amusement park industry as well as any mode of transportation (particularly airplanes), but I think that it probably does happen, unfortunately. It (according to media and the governor's press conference) sounded like a 3 time inspection was done on the ride, although as someone mentioned earlier, there is no way that they are using Magnaflux, Ultrasound or Shore Durometers on every ride after they set up or take down a ride at every fair. The high forces of gravity likely just fatigued the steel over an extended period of time to the point where it just sheared off.
  25. Gotta get on Fury and LR...so glad that you guys got your chance to ride LR this time around! Wow, that does seem strange about the lap bars...I have never heard of not being able to help out a fellow rider, nor the ride op's help. Wonder if that's an RMC safety thing after the NTAG incident or something? Anyone assist others on Outlaw Run or any of the other RMC's and not get scolded?
