Nope! This is a different event than Solace. From what I understand Solace is still happening in April of this year, but I think it's also in conjunction with an annual ACE conference. IMO, Solace is more geared to a "roller coaster event" and West Coast Bash is more of a "theme park event." We are hoping to offer some things that have never been done at Solace before. --Robb

24 Days of Theme Park Review Videos!
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Let's do something slightly different...this video is going to be kind of a "two-part" video with part one being from our Parque Espana visit in 2004 and the popular "Escalator Ride" that we discovered while trying to dodge a typhoon! (yes, it was a crazy visit here!) [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=parque_espana_1_41cv[/coastertube] -
Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ It's so funny because I far, far, FAR prefer your woodie! Those rides we took when TPR was out, OMG. Some of the best coaster rides I'd had in a long time. And Rampage was not running "comfortable" *AT ALL!!!* But it's just more of my kind of ride than Voyage is. I can't explain it. And I don't hate Voyage, it just doesn't do it for me like Rampage or Boulder Dash, Raven, or even other TGG's like Ravine Flyer II or Fireball does. --Robb "Most TPR members came away from Rampage needing serious therapy, mental and physical after that night!" Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You didn't miss anything. At least not IMO. I have been on it during the day, at night, during rain, etc, and I pretty much find it to be very similar anytime you ride it - uncomfortable. I don't agree with everyone that this ride runs OMFG CRAAAAZZZZYYYY at night. I think they are just saying that for bragging rights because there are very few times during the year you can actually ride The Voyage at night so it's more of a "Oh, man, too bad you missed out on night rides...because you know, unless you've ridden The Voyage at night, you've never ridden The Voyage." Whatever. It's the same ride. I don't see what all the fuss is. I actually found my night rides to be even more uncomfortable than my day rides. It may have *seemed* a bit faster at night because it's at night and your sense of vision isn't as good, but I really didn't find much overall difference. Last time we were there I took my one night ride and that solidified my feelings that I should be over at The Raven instead. --Robb -

^ Thanks guys for addressing that as I was going to say something as well. I will say this though, XVicesandVirtues, we don't allow TPR members to treat each other in this matter. Read our TOS. This is your only warning. Next time I see something like from you this your account will be banned. --Robb -

24 Days of Theme Park Review Videos!
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When it comes to editing these videos together I think of there is one common goal I have in mind that I'm trying to communicate to the viewer is "how much fun it is to be at a park." It's hard sometimes to capture that because you don't always end up with the kind of footage you need to portray that. The following video, if I had to choose, is probably my all-time favorite when it comes to showing the world "Hey, we're at a park, and it's AWESOME!" Not only is PortAventura a fantastic park, but we had an amazing time with a great group of people. I don't feel there is any "stand out funny" moment in this video, but when I watch it I just feel it screams "FUN!" Anyway, here is PortAventura in Spain: [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=portaventura_xw6s[/coastertube] Hope you enjoy this one as much as I do! --Robb -
I think if you use Homer's trick of going to the app's page and clicking block, it will disallow any access the app has to your profile altogether. I tried that for Friend Secrets and Friends Exposed but the Friend Secrets app that came up was not the same thing that was posted to my wall and Friends Exposed is just a group page, no app page comes up to block. It's just very frustrating right now and it's almost causing me to stop using facebook all together when I wake up in the morning and see a bunch of crap I need to remove and I can't seem to find a way to block it. Trust me, I already have all apps blocked and none of this crap shows up on my news feed, but somehow certain things still come through to my wall and nothing I've tried seems to fix it. --Robb
-
^ I have tried this and I get the page below. I don't see any global settings to turn off applications or the ability to turn off specific applications. I've tried clicking on every pull down menu I get and nothing. It's just really annoying. I probably get at least 10 of these things a day on my wall. Seriously I'm going to block the people who use these stupid apps. --Robb
-
^ Try making your scale say "I'm not acting like a douchebag" when you step on it. On another note...how do I get rid of this crap from Facebook... If I click on the link I get this...of course I'm not going to click "allow" but again, no way to block it. Please help! I can't stand this crap on my wall and I'm getting to the point where I'm just going to start blocking people that use this stupid applications. This stupid crap appears on my wall *not* my news feed. I can click "remove" but that doesn't block it. And I get no option to "block application."

24 Days of Theme Park Review Videos!
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Once again here is a NEVER BEFORE RELEASED VIDEO (except on our DVDs!) Here is Lotte World, South Korea! This footage is taken from mulitiple trips to the park which I think is absoultely a fantastic place! Not only does it have a totally kick ass roller coaster (Atlantis Adventure) it has an amazing dark ride (Pharoah's Fury) and tons and tons of other dark rides (I think there are 4 dark rides in total) flat rides, a great drop tower, and overall a fun place to visit for a couple of days. Can't wait to go back! Enjoy the video! [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=lotteworld_gnjb[/coastertube] -
^ Sorry I never got around to answering this. Gray Matter was indeed folded into Treyarch but the studios were both VERY different. Gray Matter was like 25-30 people, small company mentality even though it was owned by a much larger company. When we became part of Treyarch the team grey to nearly 100 people and we were one of three teams at the studio. Much bigger company, a lot more "corporate mentality", very different. Not bad, just different. So from my perspective the old studio (Gray Matter) was now "defunct" at least as we knew it. I now work for WayForward and just finished up A Boy and His Blob for Wii. --Robb
