  1. I have responded to this via PM.
  2. She wrote it to sensationalize the topic and draw attention to herself. That's the annoying part of it. Journalism isn't about presenting something that is correct or factual anymore, it's about how much attention can you draw to yourself so your editor will give you a raise. In a way, I'm upset with myself that I even posted a link to her article. All I did was give in to what she was looking to accomplish. *sigh*
  3. So she admitted to me on Twitter that the article was just written to grab attention. So pathetic. Help us out on Twitter and RT this...
  4. ^ Wow, what a god awful article! I just tweeted about it. Amazed that someone could actually think the park was at fault.
  5. NEW FOR 2016: FLYING EAGLES & SKYHAWK! Vaughan, ON (August 20, 2015) – Canada’s Wonderland is taking guests to new heights for 2016 with the addition of two new rides that will capture the imagination of both families, and thrill-seekers, as they take flight in an interactive flying experience. Skyhawk, the first ride of its kind in North America, will take riders to a new level of adventure when the park opens for its 35th season in 2016. Riders will take control of their own cockpit, showcasing their flying abilities as they maneuver through 360 degree turns, and challenge themselves to engage in multiple inversions at 135 feet (41m) in the air. Flying Eagles will thrill little pilots and quickly become a family favourite for parents and children alike. These two-person planes will glide 28 feet (8.5m) above the ground and allow each rider to control their flight and ride experience. “We are always looking to enhance the guest experience with new and exciting attractions. With the introduction of Skyhawk and Flying Eagles, thrill-seekers of all ages will enjoy the flying sensation on these interactive rides that are truly unique to our Park.” Norm Pirtovshek, General Manager, Canada’s Wonderland. To coincide with the new ride announcement, Canada’s Wonderland will simultaneously launch a limited time offer on 2016 Season Passes that are priced at only $67.99. Each pass will include a free visit for new Passholders or a free Fast Lane PLUS for renewing Passholders – both valid for the remainder of the 2015 season.
  6. New at Kings Dominion in 2016! https://www.kingsdominion.com/what-s-new/delirium- Get ready to defy gravity on Kings Dominion’s new ride, Delirium. The thrill ride will be located in the Candy Apple Grove section of the park and is set to open in the spring of 2016. Delirium is a powerful, spinning pendulum on which 40 riders will be strapped into their seats, facing outward on a giant ring. As their feet dangle, they begin slowly swinging back and forth while the ring starts to rotate. The ride quickly gains momentum and before they know it, riders are getting swirling views of the park. On Delirium, guests soar to a height of 115 feet at a maximum arc angle of 120 degrees. Delirium will delight thrill seekers of all ages as they fly through the air, experiencing gravity defying hang time. “The addition of Delirium reflects our commitment to providing exciting and thrilling family experiences for our guests,” says Pat Jones, Vice President and General Manager of Kings Dominion. “We pride ourselves on being home to a variety of rides and attractions that offer something for all generations to enjoy. Delirium will make a great addition to our already thrilling collection of rides.” Park guests who want to be among the first to experience Kings Dominion’s newest addition can purchase a 2016 Kings Dominion Season Pass starting today. 7. Seven-story water slide complex coming to Kings Island in 2016 MASON, Ohio – Kings Island announced Wednesday a major expansion to its Soak City Waterpark for the 2016 season with the addition of Tropical Plunge, a complex of six different water slide experiences towering nearly seven stories. Three of the slides on the 65-foot tall complex will start with guests climbing inside an Aqua-Launch chamber where they will wait anxiously for the floor to drop out from underneath their feet, sending them into a high-speed, almost vertical free fall through a series of flat loops and S-curves in a translucent flume. Tropical Plunge also features a slide that will send riders twisting and spiraling through an enclosed chute featuring four intense 360-degree loops across 449 feet of slide before they’re released out into a pool of water and dueling 337-foot long tube slides that zip riders through an enchanting series of drops and turns. “This will be a high-adrenaline attraction that will increase the thrill factor for our park guests,” Kings Island’s Vice President and General Manager Greg Scheid said. “They have been asking for new and more thrilling waterpark attractions they are able to enjoy with family members and we think this answers their feedback plus brings another element of FUN to the overall experience of Kings Island.” Tropical Plunge will expand the size of Kings Island’s waterpark to 35 acres. Once the attraction has been built, Soak City Waterpark will have a total of 36 slides; two wave pools; two coves; a lagoon and an action river plus children’s play areas among its more than 50 water activities. Construction on Tropical Plunge is expected to begin this fall and will be ready by Memorial Day 2016, the start of the waterpark’s 27th season. In addition to the new water slide complex, in conjunction with the City of Mason’s renovation of Kings Island Drive, a grander more welcoming park entrance with 13 new entrance lanes will be built on the north end of the parking lot, creating a much-improved traffic flow. The new entrance will replace the current north and south toll plazas. Kings Island is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “FUN.” [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=SoakCitySlideComplex_loop_fudt[/coastertube] New parking toll booth Tropical Plunge Logo Artist Rendering
  8. I love water parks! Looking forward to whatever the announcement is!
  9. Yeah, but that's not really a fair comparison because parks like Coney Island offer a variety of different ticketing schemes. I think the discussion was based on parks that have a single POP admission plan and then upcharge attractions.
  10. Sounds like a great question to ask at West Coast Bash!
  11. Playing Devil's Advocate here - we can't automatically say that the coaster would remain smooth regardless of who would do the installation, and that includes Rocky Mountain. Of course. But I think it's safe to assume that RMC's topper track work probably has a longer shelf life than the others even if the park did absolutely nothing to it. That was my point.
  12. This! But whatever they do, they NEED it to be good for more than just a few years after the restoration. That's the only thing I fear if it's not an RMC...how long will the ride be good for before it falls back into being rough again? That being said, I just rode Boulder Dash early this season and it's been what, 5 or 6 years since GCI did their work and it's still running AWESOME! But Lake Compounce also only has three big roller coasters right now, two of them being woodies....
  13. I would be over-joyed to see RMC retrack this ride, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was GCI. If I had to guess, I think you're right. I think we are looking at something more along the lines of what GCI did to Boulder Dash (which was awesome) but that's just my guess.
  14. GhostRider Photo Tour at West Coast Bash! 15. Just announced! Knott’s Berry Farm Prepares For Ghost Town’s 75th Anniversary Celebration In 2016 Saddle-Up On GhostRider Before September 8 In 2016, Knott's Berry Farm’s Ghost Town will celebrate 75 years of creating lasting memories for countless generations. The massive coaster features plunging drops, harrowing turns, and 4,533 ft. of wooden track. Hitting speeds of over 50 miles per hour, and looming 118 ft. over the historic Ghost Town, GhostRider even races outside of the Park, towering over Beach Boulevard. 16. This is absolutely correct! And while it's a better deal than buying a bunch of sodas at the park, it is absolutely included in the price.
  17. It amuses me that someone would think that because ACE plopped down a plaque in front of a ride that means it's sacred or something! lol
  18. We'll see what they do with an entire immersive land. But to me, Star Tours vs. Harry Potter Land plays out more like this... Star Tours = "You're in this made-up spaceport going on these made-up transport shuttles that have nothing to do with the movies and were mdae up by ride people to make a good attraction, and while we will reference movie stuff during your flight we will also be explaining to you what's going on along the way." HPL = "You're smack in the middle of one of the books with lore all around you that is *exactly* the way it was in the books and about as deep as it possibly can be. If you don't know the stories or any of these references... f**k you." I'm not a "fan" of either property, but I'm open to both and willing to get drawn into it. I've just always felt that going into the Harry Potter lands they make an effort to cater to the fans, and an effort to turn off non-fans. To the point where I was in a shop once looking for something and I was genuinely asking "I know nothing about this stuff, but I'm looking for something for someone who does" and I was just ridiculed for not knowing what certain things were by both members of the cast that were in the store that I ended up leaving without buying anything. They weren't allowed to break character and just tell me "Oh, this is from the first movie, if they like this kind of stuff, this would be cool to get them." I just have a feeling that Disney won't take it to quite that extreme.
  19. Another teaser in from Quassy today.... This Banner Showed Up At The Park Today ….And Made Its Way To The Trabant Ride …Appears The Clock Is Ticking Toward 2016
  20. This right here is just proof on how much awesome can be done with such a small space. In a way, I'm happy to see some recent designs are going back to this kind of philosophy.
  21. ^ I think what they are getting at is that Harry Potter Land takes it to an extreme "There cannot be Coca-Cola products served here because they aren't in the books!" "Everything in these lands must... MUST fall in line *exactly* with the stories I've written and nobody can go out of character!" thus creating this area that unless you have read the books and/or seen the films, you're kind of lost. I know I am when I visit the Harry Potter lands and it's one of the main reasons none of it resonates with me. I walk in and I get made fun of for being a "muggle" and I don't even know what the hell that is! And when I tell the characters in the land "what's a muggle?" instead of explaining it to me, they make fun of me even more! And that's when I go "This is stupid" and I walk out! lol On the other hand, Disney seems to do a much better job with taking it's properties seriously, but not going to an extreme. For example, I've never seen the last two Star Wars movies (Ep 1 was just so bad I couldn't be bothered with the other two), but when I go on Star Tours and see things that aren't what I recognize, I chalk it up to being "space stuff," some of which is even briefly explained while on the ride, and at no point do I need to feel like I know what any of it is to enjoy the attraction. I think Disney will do a much better job of bridging the gap between the fan and non-fan more than Universal does with their Potter lands, mostly due to the fact that they own the license and they aren't held by some crazy woman as to what they can and can't do to explain the property.
