  1. Like I said, we just completely stumbled across it during our wandering around Nagoya. I've always felt the best most ef'ed up stuff you'll discover in Japan can't be found in any guidebooks or website guides, it's the random stuff you find while just exploring the cities!
  2. I haven't ridden a single coaster at Universal that have the metal detectors since they put them in. I'm all for measures to keep idiots from losing their crap, but that's going too far and I think it's awful of Universal. I don't plan on ever riding those coasters again until they are removed.
  3. Do not underestimate humanity and the lack of intelligence. You should just see some of the emails, messages, and comments we get on our socials EVERY SINGLE DAY that just seriously make me weep for humanity and realize how doomed we really are.
  4. I'm sorry, it's still just absolutely blowing my mind that some people on this forum were suggesting the park was partially to blame due to a lack of signage. I went through the POV of Raptor just to see how fencing is around the ride and it's ALL OVER THE PLACE! In fact, in some places it looks to be double fenced! And while you can't read the signs from the video grabs, I'm sure they say something like RESTRICTED AREA! Here's the reality of the situation - they don't need more signs. In fact, they shouldn't even need to have ANY signs. When you have tall fence with locked gates surrounding an obviously very dangerous ride, that's all you SHOULD need. But the world is stupid so there are at least signs on the fences. The concept that someone would think we would need MORE SIGNS to prevent something like this in the future is just mind boggling. In short, you can't fix stupid no matter how many signs you put up. I'm just really disappointed in some of our members. I would really have hoped we all would have been better than that.
  5. The sad part about all this is that the park probably WILL end up putting signs up. And all we can learn from this is... THE IDIOTS WIN!
  6. Really?!??! You're BLAMING THE PARK!?!?!? What the hell is wrong with you?!?!?! You mean a fence and a GIANT METAL ROLLER COASTER SCREAMING BY YOU isn't instruction enough to figure out that you shouldn't be going to get a lost cell phone in a restricted area??? You know, they put up the fences and signs because of people like you. He said they need to put up better instructions if you loose an article. I see signs at other parks, by there aren't many signs that say "your items will be retrieved after the park closes" or something. First of all, it's "lose" not "loose" and I'm assuming that since you're too dumb to know the difference between those two things, that you're also dumb enough to agree that the park would actually need more signage and be partially at fault. I honestly cannot believe there are people on this forum that would ACTUALLY BELIEVE or think the park might be even slightly remotely at fault due to a lack of signage or instruction. That concept is just so amazingly stupid to me it blows my mind. We're supposed to be "theme park experts" here, not theme park morons.

You know, they put up the fences and signs because of people like you. No. I said he's totally at fault. But there isn't much instruction on what to do if you lose an item on a ride. I'm not saying that to justify ignoring "RESTRICTED AREA" signs. I'm just saying they could have a little more information on what to do in that circumstance. I had to talk my brother out of a similar situation because he didn't know he could simply go and fill out a form to have it returned to him at a later time. No, you're absolutely suggesting the park is to blame. And you don't even realize what you are saying. Wow, you're a f**kig idiot. So is your brother. --Robb "Looks like you did draw the shortest straw" Alvey

  9. I'm curious to see it! I sent them two different versions of the ride, one that we shot in 2013, and then an updated one a few weeks ago that had the new Manta-clone in the background. I'm curious to know which one they used.
  10. Updated report says "Man was looking for his cell phone." http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/local/ohio/2015/08/13/cedar-point--investigation/31663211/ SANDUSKY, Ohio -- A Cedar Point guest died after he was struck by the Raptor roller coaster around 5 p.m. Thursday. The man was in a restricted area of the park surrounded by a fence when it happened. He was looking for a lost cell phone, according to a report by the Associated Press. The Erie County Coroner Dr. Brian Baxter told WKYC Channel 3 that the victim is a man in his 40s. His identity has not been released. Cedar Point police and the Sandusky Police Department are investigating.
  11. Check out these photos that surfaced on Twitter....
  12. I feel like we need to send some positive vibes somehow to the PR department. First the leak, now this. I just hope their announcement goes will on Tuesday and adds some happy buzz!
  13. If you could answer and resolve this question with the world's people, you'd be a billionaire. Usually in cases like this when it's a clear-cut case of human error (or should I saw Darwin award?) they usually do.
  14. I still will never forget that on one of our tours we managed to rent out Olympia Looping for an hour before the Wurtzburg Fair opened. Over half of the people on our tour took one or two rides and then stopped riding because it was "too intense." I had never seen such a large group of roller coaster pussies in my life! So many people I know would kill to have an hour on that ride, and most of them just treated it as a "one and done credit." Such a waste. Next time we do ERT on Olympia Looping, I'll let you know and you can be my riding partner! Speaking of which, when are you guys doing another Europe trip? Next year.

  16. This. I'm going to guess that nobody on this forum is actually a "bug spray expert" and how it effects organisms nor do I actually believe that bug spray caused an entire bay to "go dark" (c'mon, really? you actually believe that?!??!) I'm going to side with the guides who do this for a living and are experts in the field. If they tell you to use bug spray, use it. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to recommend you do something that will kill future opportunities to do their tour.
  17. ^ Since we don't live in California anymore, this question is probably more suited for the SFMM thread on the main forum for some of our SoCal locals to respond to.
  18. I didn't get a chance to watch tonight. Who tuned it? Was the show decent?
  19. We are looking for someone to attend the Carowinds announcement for TPR on August 27th at 11am. Don't go asking the park for special stuff. Don't go complaining about stuff. Just be cool, have fun, and appreciate that you're getting to do a cool invite-only event. We will select someone based on the emails we receive.
  20. TPR's last ride on Roar at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom!
  21. Here's a little "Farewell" video I put together from my last ride...even though technically my "last ride" on it was in 2013!
  22. I'll assume you're talking about TPR's own JRice92. Whatever they pay that guy it's not enough. Yes... Yes they do. Black and yellow, you know what it is. Thank you for the compliment coasterbill! And yes, people pull down their lap bars first all the time, almost once every other train. Our spiels are constantly evolving so we can minimize guests pulling down the lap bars first. I hope you're returning next year for when we visit Cedar Point in 2016!
  23. Yes and no. Yes in the sense that there is a much higher amount of "personal responsibility" than in the USA, but when accidents do occur, user error or not, they are much more strict at finding the cause as Japan is just a place where "accidents don't happen."
