Ladies only swimming sessions at your Pool
Adam_C replied to verticalzero's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'd think it only fair if they justified it by having a male-only session once a week, even if it was just a big gay splashathon. -

Favorite Dark Ride
Adam_C replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I read that Phantom Manor used to have Vincent Price as the Ghost Host, until Disney worked out a deal with the Frenchies to have the ride narrated in French. While I can appreciate wanting to have the ride narrated in the native tongue, I'm sad I missed out on that. I'm going to go with the Disneyland version of Pirates for my favorite dark ride. I haven't seen anything quite like it. It DID have Mr Price, and how wonderful it is too. But most of the visitors were French, so they re-did it in French, its only a tiny bit in the lobby/stretch though, none in the ride like the US versions, its done with music instead. -
Favorite Dark Ride
Adam_C replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry to re-open a thread 2 years later, but Im new I like Pirates of the Caribbean, and definately Disneyland Paris' "Phantom Manor" I used to like Toyland Tours at Alton Towers but it closed and became a new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory thing. My favourite is probably the walk-thru dark ride Trauma Towers at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The owner of the haunted hotel invites you to dinner, but the Baronial Dining Hall is on the other side of the hotel, so you have to walk through it, through spooky scenes like the library where the books slide in and out, as well as some general slopy floor haunted fun house style stuff. Then you get to the dining hall, sit around the dining table, and then you realise... it's a Tageda, hehe. -

http://www.rcdb.com/ig790.htm but the dips on this dont look that nice... its those sort of dips/drops I seem to dislike the idea of. -
Final Destination 3
Adam_C replied to KrakenKing's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not to open up an old thread, but despite the Corkscrew at Playland, wouldnt it be cool if somewhere like Blackpool Pleasure Beach or somewhere built "Devil's Flight" with the same theming, station, layout etc? -
Donkeys to me I associate with the British Seaside, and thus Blackpool Pleasure Beach etc, heh. Some people have personal descriptions instead of the Donkey things, how do you do that?

Airtime doesnt sound that pleasant, Id rather be seated! lol

Blackpool Pleasure Beach ADVICE?
Adam_C replied to Adam_C's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can sympathise there, I assure you. But thank you for those kind and encouraging words I did feel pride after pushing myself to go on Big Thunder Mountain, which although its practically a kiddy ride to most folk here, it was a big step for me, and I loved it. I hope this is how I'll feel with the other coasters too -

Adam_C replied to Adam_C's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Valhalla is listed as a "indoor water coaster", and I was planning to ride it last... but... "insane drops" ? Anyway I think I'd like to start tame and work my way up, that seems the logical idea, especially as Im a bit nervous of that too, so the idea of doing the biggest scariest coaster first I find a bit nuts, it could really put me off! So yeah whilst wandering the Pleasure Beach, and occasionally going on River Caves or Ghost Train or Derby Racer etc, Im hoping to MAYBE do this order: Space Invader Avalanche Roller Coaster Steeplechase Irn Bru Revolution (Although this one is a "maybe", it scares me!) Grand National Big Dipper and possibly Valhalla. I need to work myself up a bit to try the modern coasters like Infusion. -
Why you Love Coasters/Amusement Parks
Adam_C replied to Airtime&Gravity's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Escapism most definately, and the great idea that this park/ride/attraction is here purely for my enjoyment, and to make me happy! -

I feel like Id prefer to start small and work up, whilst going on other rides too... ...probably gonna do this Friday 30th March... so if anyone sees me, say hi, call me a noob for not knowing the coaster terminology or acronyms or knowing what points are what etc and wish me luck! -

It's Zipper Dipper's restraint bars, they push down on my thighs. And yeah, the wristband idea may be worthwhile... the annoyance is that in summer it's heavingly busy, but right now the wristbands are only £10 but its full of people taking advantage of that offer. -

Whether its the foreign parks or the abbreviations/acronyms, but I didnt quite understand any of that!! Sorry! Nothing personal... people do that a lot, "PMBO" for Pepsi Max Big One etc. Even happens on other forums, like musicals, someone will be talking about "ALAYM" ... and Im like "huh?" and they mean "As Long As You're Mine", a song from Wicked. Heh. -

I do appreciate all this help! I like the sound of niiicolaaah's list. Although I stopped being able to fit in the Zipper Dipper when I was about 15, probably cos Im 6ft 3 now, and probably wasnt far off it then! It's gonna take a lot of guts, but I really wanna try it! As for Valhalla.... only thing putting me off is getting drenched, and that I was told it has some big backward drops... and that its about 7 quid a throw! -
AHA! I never saw this thread before I made my own "Hi!" thread and everyone got annoyed! Hehe. I'm Adam, I live in Bolton near Manchester in North West England. I've been to both US Disney and Universal resorts, and the one in Paris. I've also been to Knotts Berry Farm, Alton Towers, and frequently to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The big thing with me is that Im a bit of a fraidy cat! Ive not been on many coasters, but the most Ive been on (and enjoyed) was Big Thunder Mountain (the Paris one is best!), I did accidentally go on the Jurassic Park ride in California, not knowing it had a huge drop at the end... which I wasnt overly keen on as I dont like dips/drops at all! I guess I just like the fast twisty fun nicely themed type of ride, but I need to get some bravery and try more coasters! Im sure I'll like them if I can just get the guts to try! My sort of attraction are things like Pirates of the Caribbean, Trauma Towers (Blackpool Pleasure Beach) and classic things like mazes, ghost trains, dark rides etc Oh and as for non theme parky bits... uh... I like musicals, computer games, TV, movies, and I'm gaaaaaaay!
