  1. (Sorry, I'm no good with the quote thingy- whoever mentioned DRM) ^my thoughts exactly. The main reason I chose not to get Vista is because of the DRM thing. I don't know if it would affect anything I do, but I just thing it's wrong. Plus, I've heard nothing but bad things about it since it came out.
  2. Somebody said "You're Beautiful"- I'll have to second that one. Actually, any sappy love songs like "Wind Beneath my Wings". And I can't think of what it's called, but I HATE that song from the 80s that goes, "Get out of my dreams and into my car" How stupid!
  3. I can't resist this topic... I have a bulldog, Humphrey (who is my avatar); a pug, Peter (named for Peter Forsberg); a cat, Ichabod; and 4 guinea pigs: Hamlet, Ophelia, Othello, and Desdemona. Since I already have a pic up of Hump, here is one of Peter. .
  4. Thanks, good pics. Especially the ones of Deja Vu- I like the combo of the colors against the blue sky.
  5. Cool logo, even if it does look like something from a video game. At least the name is somewhat imaginative, unlike some parks (mentioning no names) that use the same names like Viper, Superman, Batman, etc. for everything Anyway, looks like a fun ride, and maybe I'll get to try it this summer!
  6. I remember I was specifically looking for coaster videos, and I Googled "roller coaster videos". Boy, was I excited when I found this site!
  7. Kennywood- 10 minutes away If I look out my mom's bedroom window (she lives across the street) I can see Kennywood- in particular the Phantom, Thunderbolt, PittFall, Skycoaster. Fun.
  8. Thanks- nice pics. It's always fun to see coasters and snow together. Those are some good ones of Knoebel's from the Sky Ride- I love long sky rides like that. Flying Turns looks great.
  9. Just watching that makes me sick. I'll pass, too. Besides that, I just don't think this would be feasible- would appeal to too few people to be worthwhile.
  10. Thanks for the TR. It's always fun seeing how parks look in the off-season, with "naked" rides and stuff. Kind of creepy.
  11. I've only been on 2: Avalanche Bobsled at PKD, and Disaster Transport. I voted for DT- I love this ride! I loved it when it was outside- I think it was called Avalanche Run or something- but it's even better in the dark- makes it seem faster. And the cheesy theming is so much fun!
  12. Interesting topic-Gotta get my 2 cents in... I am 37 yrs old, have never given birth, and never plan to. I really don't think that the act of childbirth and/or the changes your body undergoes has any relation to enjoying roller coasters or other thrills. As someone pointed out, I think it would be more of the age factor. When men and women get older, they start to get things like arthritis and stuff that make coasters (plus walking around theme parks) less fun. Also, when you get older, you have more finiancial responsibilities, like mortgages, car pymts, etc, that cut into amusement park trips. (Has anyone noticed that both gas and getting into amusement parks keep getting more expensive?) To someone else's point, I do believe that men are (unfortunately) socialized to be more "adrenaline junkies" than women, although I would blame society and not biology. I consider myself an adrenaline junkie. I have been a volunteer firefighter for 10 yrs, and have experienced that adrenaline rush when riding a fire engine or going into a burning bldg that is similar to the one felt on coasters. Although the danger is real, which makes an even more intense rush. I no longer do active firefighting because I have fibromyalgia, which, not to bore everyone, is a condition similar to arthritis that makes you--- hurt. As in ache after doing simple things, like walking around a theme park and standing in long lines (more so that stuff than the coasters). This has affected my enjoyment of coaster trips, but will not make me give up this hobby that I love. Again, an age thing--- I think when you get older, you get more irritated with waiting in lines.. or maybe I'm just a grumpy old woman. Regarding the dating thing: I too have tried many online dating things, and usually mention that I like amusement parks/roller coasters. I have never gotten a comment one way or the other on this, either "boy, that's weird" or "hey baby, wanna go to Cedar Point?"- the latter, of course, I would likely fall for. I can't imagine being turned off by anybody's hobbies/interests unless it's like necrophilia or something. BTW, I do like to shop too- but I usually don't broadcast that because it's embarassing.
  13. No contest, Voretx at PCW- one of my all-time favorites. And such a beautiful park.
  14. Thanks for the nice TR, looks like fun. I can't believe that had a Magnum PI ride! rofl! I must agree w/your opinion of the Zipper. I was forced on one once- my worst ride experience ever!
  15. Hot off the press... I just checked the local news online and saw this: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07026/757123-100.stm This would be the Disk-O that we knew Kennywood was getting. Word is that it'll replace the Flying Carpet.
  16. Believe it or not, I've never been on Millenium Force (although CP is only a couple hours from me). I'm dying to try it! Also, add TTD. Others on my wish list: Apollo's Chariot Sheikra The Hulk Wild Thing Revolution at SFMM- just because it was in my favorite movie, "Rollercoater" Kraken Steel Force NItro Storm Runner at Hershey Raging Bull El Toro Shivering Timbers Medusa Pepsi Max- Blackpool Dragon Khan Nemesis Air Expedition Everest Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland the list could go on....and on.... I know it's not a coaster but I'd absolutely love to ride that thing that shoots you into the air on top of the Stratosphere in Vegas!
  17. 1. The Vortex at PKI- just thinking about it gives me a headache 2. Mighty Canadian Minebuster- PCW 3. Mean Streak- CP 4. Mantis- CP Not "rough" in the traditional sense, but too many positive Gs for my knees (hey, that rhymes) 5. Steel Phantom- Kennywood- before this was reborn as the Phantom's Revenge, going into the loop from the bottom of the big hill gave you a serious case of whiplash
