My Coaster Expedition Volume 3 Review! I am going to go straight to the point and my overall thoughts. I really enjoyed it! When I first ordered, I was mainly eager to watch the POV's but then after watching the general "around the park" footage, I ended up really liking it, probably more than the POV's. I thought the atmosphere of the parks, (along with some TPR touch) gave a good sense of what the parks have to offer. The only downside (and that's my fault) is that it is 2002 footage, and a lot of the parks have more stuff now, but for a 5 year old video, it was fantastic. So good job! You can expect to see me purchase another DVD sometime in the future!

Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces "X2"
vedved82491 replied to Loco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ah yes, redesigning the queue, that's what I want to hear! I just hope the source wasn't confused with X's planned station change. But Viper needs is as well. You'd be surprised how many people line up in only one line, and the other two are empty, and so you just walk straight up, but then people don't know that a specific lines leads to a specific place in line (in which riders the cut to wherever they want to ride). Also on a side note, I noticed that Viper doesn't immediately operate two trains when it opens. I know this may be because of staffing, but honestly, the line goes past an hour in the mornings. Also an additional note to the rumored redisgned queue. It'd be nice to do soemthing with the ceiling of the loading platform. I've seen a decent size spider up there! -

Yeah, I also have no problem with the current track color, but if they are changing, they should keep it Red and Black, not Gray. Gray will fade too soon. With black, it'll turn into gray and still look "acceptable" but I fear the gray would turn white, and look too much like Viper. -

It REALLY wouldn't hurt to do the SLIGHTEST bit of research... almost everything is being changed on X, except the actual layout. Which means new trains, new tunnel, new effects, new station, and YES new COLOR -
?Are you assuming all the coasters are closed or something? They're all by default scheduled to be operating with the exception of X who is reopening in the Spring, which, if all goes well, means between March and June, and Viper is merely getting a paint job, and maybe a rehab, and it's scheduled to reopene before the end of the year... Superman as far as I know is usually operating unless it's having a bad day, and you will only see one side ever running at once. I'm not sure when they stop cycling Colossus backwards after frightfest but I'm guessing it's over, so expect only the forward side open.

Wow, that leaves the flat count to what? Two? I mean besides the kiddie rides, Swashbuckler and Buccaneer are the only "family" flats left. This "future expansion" better be good. It's so odd, It's been 4 months since the last time I've been to Magic Mountain and so much has been announced, declared, and changed.

So who else has heard about that deal Six Flags has with a painting company? Apparently the company will be the painter of all Six Flags parks while Six Flags advertises them throughout the park in numerous ways. X2 is getting it's new paint...(it better be red/black, none of the that blue/green nonsense) Viper is apparently closed for the rest of the year for painting. It's also got some of its lights fixed finally.

Colossus being removed gets a big NO from me. It's my favorite woodie (of 5 that I've been on), and the backwards side is even better! It's a classic and a legend. I would hate to see it leave. It's shape is pretty unique too. Nothing equal could replace. Also, going from 2 to 0 woodies in a park in a few years is crap too. I hope some of these rumors never come true.

Six Flags doesn't really care if it's one of a kind. Just because it's for sale, doesn't mean it has a future. Look at Shockwave at SFGAm. Sure there's two more copies (one being at MM , but they're all "hits" to say the least. Anyways, I'd say Circus Wheel is the best looking flat they have at magic mountain. It's also pretty sad to say that state fair Yoyo's look nicer and safer that Magic Mountains's.

It was both confirmed over at Thrillnetwork that Deja Vu is NOT leaving and Thomas Town IS taking Granny Gran Prix's location. But hmm, Goliath Jr. being refit to a Thomas Themed coaster doesn't sound all that crazy. Seems very possible. Since we all know when a coaster is changed at Magic Mountain it's considered a "new" ride.

I literally laughed reading that. I wouldn't want to see Thomas Town in the back of the park. One reason being, IT'S THE BACK OF THE PARK, somewhat deserted. Two, I doubt that large of an area needs to be used for Thomas Town. Think of future expansion as well. I'm sure they're still trying to preserve the land they own for bigger expansions, and figuring other ways to place other rides. Maybe we'll even see new flats in the next few years. Ah speculation.speculation. -

Ugh wonderful. Lines for X"2" will be huge next year. Silly GP. Hey at least there'll be some new effects ;D -
Wishing SFMM's Deja Vu away is naughty! No presents for you from Santa this year! As for staffing issues and Vu at SFMM, I've never seen such problem. Of the 5 times I've been to Magic Mountain, Vu was closed only one time and that was because they synchronized it's rehab with Psyclone demoltion...they re-opened it a couple days after my visit. So to me it seems that the major bugs are out of Vu. So if SFGAm's Deja Vu is going overseas, where is SFOG's going? I thought theres was going overseas as well.

hahaha. omg so funny, yet so true.

a Huss *GIANT Frisbee....wow I'd cry (tears of joy) if they announced that in Psyclone's (or even Flashbacks's) old spot they would place a giant frisbee. That would be a great non coaster addition for the year, as well as whatever they have "family" planned. Now that I think about it, does ANY SF park have a giant frisbee? Or any ride from huss for that matter? (besides a couple topspins)

I hope so! I remember last year going backwards was a LOT more comfortable than going forwards. I went on Colossus forwards (obviously) earlier this year and it was PAINFUL in a few spots. Extreme vibrations! My guess is that the backwards side isn't as rough because it's only used for a few weeks every year (unless the alternate stations which I don't see much of) Is Hurricane Harbor closed yet? I'd say it's about that time where those PTR's need to be comin' in again. Flashback demolition countdown will soon begin.
