  1. Well it is no secret that I am a fan of Schwarzkopf shuttle loops and I have traveled the world in search of every Schwarzkopf credit I can get. While the Tidal Wave was not one of the best riding shuttle loops it definitely wins for best looking! Beautiful ride both day and night.
  2. So the first time you went to the park were there any rides? I think the first time I visited the park was in 1978 and they had the two coasters and an enterprise...that was it. That is a great picture of Zoomerang.
  3. Larry- These old photos are great. I really like the one the kiddie helecopter ride. I have so many memories of riding these type of rides at almost every amusement park I went to as a kid. (the woman ass shot is questionable) Hey you said you had some pictures of you and your family at Circus World. When do we get to see those? Keep the old photos coming! Shane
  4. With the reference to TN which is obviously in the south...I think I might see something...but it is a stretch.
  5. EXCELLENT!!!! Wow what a great find these are, and thanks for taking the time to scan, post and share them with all of us. I for one LOVE to see these great old photos from personal collections.
  6. I don't see anything...but you have me curious
  7. Here is a quick photo update on the construction. All the waterslides have been assembled in small sections and steel assembly has begun on the structure. Vertical construction will begin next week. Most of the site work has been underground and in the past couple of days over 3 miles of pipe have been laid. Footers have been dug, rebar placed and they will begin pouring this afternoon. Lazy River and buildings begin next week. Cowabunga Dude! footer rebar sexy Steel assembly has begun on the main bucket tower shut down lanes slides assembled and awaiting in the parking lot this will be where all the pumps and filtration systems go Miles and miles of underground pipe are ready to be buried
  8. Libertyland Some parks that thrived in the early 80's unfortunatly are no longer around. Here is one of those parks...Libertyland in Memphis, TN
  9. You are not imagining things, occassionaly I will post a brochure, postcard or photo twice depending on the update. For instance when I did a large update on Kings Dominion in the 80's I thought it would be appropriate to post the 1980 brochure... Then as part of this 1980 brochure update it would be incomplete without the 1980 Kings Dominion brochure.
  10. Oh it is so good to be back. I felt dead without my computer. Here is another great postcard from Carowinds, featuring White Lightnin'
  11. Kings Island Sorry for the interuption due to technical difficulty. Now that my computer is out of the shop and I am hundreds of dollars poorer lets get back to out 1980 collection of park brochures. Here's Kings Island.
  12. We are going to have a little break from the daily updates of 1980 brochures. My computer crashed and it had to go into the shop (Vista SUCKS). Hopefully we will continue on Monday. -Shane
  13. My mistake, that is the little train over in Hanna Barbera Land. I thought it was the big one that circled the park.
  14. KENNYWOOD The Laser Loop was a great addition to Kennywood in 1980, their first looping coaster. It was also the last shuttle loop that Schwarzkopf made. It, of course, was later removed to make way for the Steel Phantom and it now thrills riders in Mexico City. Awesome cover
  15. And speaking of sticking to your postcard thread...how about another postcard??? OK here is one from my favorite park Carowinds. Only two of the six shown rides remain at the park
  16. nope, I am not good at the trip report thing. Miles and I have still been trying to put one together from out Mexico City trip way back in October. I am going to stick to the postcard thread and my Attic thread and leave the trip reports to others.
  17. ^ YES, too bad when they finally figured it out it was too late
  18. Only three? which one does not get your love?
  19. Another Great card from a Great park. Marriott's Great America.
  20. Ahhh, memories from my Christmas this year in the Smoky Mtns. LOVE this park! (and loved this ride)
  21. Hersheypark Proving my point that 1980 was the year of the swinging ship, Hersheypark adds the Huss version...the "Pirat". (the "e" is silent) Hershey adds two Huss rides.
  22. Geauga Lake Sadly we go from one defunct amusement park to another. Elitch Gardens lives on in a new location in Denver and I guess Geauga Lake kind of lives on at Kings Dominion, Carowinds and Michigan's Adventure. Neither are the same as the original parks.
  23. ELITCH GARDENS This is OLD Elitch Garens. Home of the Wild Cat and Mister Twister. Also one of the most beautiful parks I had ever visited. If this park was still open today I am sure it would give Busch Gardens Williamsburg a run for their money for the "Best Landscaping" Sometimes "progress" sucks!
