  1. King Kobra Here are some photos I just dug up of the King Kobra in its second home. Before being shipped off to Alton Towers, King Kobra spent some time at Jolly Rogers Amusement Park in MD. I am not sure how often it ran or what the back story is on this location. Anyone know why it was built there, rarely operated and then taken out?
  2. My home park is Lagoon & Libertyland in Salt Lake
  3. LMAO, I am guessing the red side is the car pool lane
  4. This is a very interesting find. Something else that can be drawn from this is the location of the coaster (not that it isn't already obvious). It will be located on the South Carolina side of the park. I was hoping that the location of the log flume site would would enable them to utilize the entrance bridge as a tunnel for the first drop. That would have been a spectacular visual, but that would require the coaster to cross state lines and I don't see an application for NC. The lazy river crosses state line and when that was constructed permits had to be filed in both states.
  5. Here's your BOOM! [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=BOOM[/coastertube]
  6. More great old stuff from Kings Dominion. Here are some Kings Dominion clips, including the singing mushrooms, from the movie "Roller Coaster" [tprtv]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=RollerCoasterKingsDominion[/tprtv] Kings Dominion didn't seem to enforce the "no loose articles" policy back then. Harry is allowed to ride the Rebel Yell with that big old suit case. "Hey, I betcha a million dollars we beat ya mister" [tprtv]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=RebelYell[/tprtv]
  7. ^^ The Lost World was a great attraction. While I love Volcano, it is a shame that the Lost World had to be sacrificed.
  8. The Firestone Air Shows were such a great finish to a great day at both Kings Dominion and Kings Island. They are such a part of my early memories of both of these parks. I love the scenes from "Roller Coaster" when they are flying overhead of the park. If anyone has that I would love to see it posted to TPR TV
  9. Yes the Brady Bunch was filmed at Kings Island but this latest post was all about Kings Dominion, lets talk about that park. Anyone missing the King Kobra, Apple Turnover, Galaxi? Lets give Kings Dominion some love!!!
  10. I forgot about the Brady Bunch episode. Isn't that were Jan loses Mikes plans for the amusement park or something like that? Boy Jan was always getting into trouble.
  11. Kings Dominion Lets go back several years and several owners to a time when Kings Dominion was a fairly new park. It had a starring role in the film "Roller Coaster" and featured key attractions as King Kobra, Lost World, Rebel Yell and the Apple Turnover. Today's park still has some of its original feel but with several owners and different directions, the park has lost some of it's original charm, anyone remember the singing mushrooms? I hope this update brings back some of those GREAT memories of Kings Dominion - the early years. Here are two clips from the movie "Roller Coaster" that show the park back in the 70's [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=RollerCoasterKingsDominion[/coastertube] [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=RebelYell[/coastertube] 1992 brochure. The park is starting to take on a different look and feel. next stop...Paramount. King Kobra finally is replaced with a new snake 1991 brochure The New Attraction: Avalanche. I am not sure how it fits into the safari section of the park? I am guessing there wasn't a lot of creative input that went into this attraction ahhh, where did the King Kobra go??? Map from 1987. A new attraction is coming to the Safari section of the park. It was an Awesome ride when it first opened Kings Dominion follows up its cousin, The Beast, with The Grizzly New and exciting attractions are coming to Kings Dominion Such a GREAT park icon. One of the BEST! well at least one of the car rides has survived two great flat rides that were located in candy apple grove. They have been long gone and replaced by several other attractions over the years I miss the Red, White & Blue coasters Amazingly this coaster, now in it's 4th location, is still running and thrilling riders! A moment of silence please for the world's first Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop With all the flumes being removed lately, I wonder how much longer this one will be around I am not a fan of the remodeled International street. The new landscaping really hides the fountains and takes away the "street" feel sky rides were a staple attraction of all parks back in the 70's. They are a rarity now Was this ride called the flying dutchman? Kings Island had the same ride long ago so much charm and atmosphere There they are...the singing mushrooms. When I worked for Paramount I tried to track them down and see if they were stored away somewhere. unfortunately they are no more The souvenir book from 1978 The star attraction of the 70's Rebel Yell Press photos 1977 park map Such at great ride and a perfect fit for the park at the time. I think it still would have been a great attraction for the park 1980 park map The Lost World The Haunted River Park Map park attractions and facts The Lost World 1980 brochure New attraction: the Lost World 1979 brochure. note: the park is called Hanna Barbera's Kings Dominion The King Kobra postcard
  12. Here's something that you might want to include with the photos.
  13. Granite Park in Fresno?
  14. I think from the examples that Gav points out it is definitely NOT and inverted. You can tell from the angle of where the support will connect
  15. Here is a fun postcard. It is from the year that Park Asterix opened in France. While I think it is an amazingly well done park, comparing it to the Eiffel Tower is a bit of a stretch.
  16. I've gotta break the theme and go back to the Revolution for a bit. This postcard shows the three versions of the trains when they had the different colored lead cars. I can never get tired of looking at this ride!
  17. Anyone know when Maliboomer is going to come down? It is a shame they can't do something with those scream tunnels. They completely ruin the look of that ride.
  18. I think Cyclone would be a perfect dog name for a coaster enthusiast. It is classic

  21. I remember doing the commercial shoot for Batman at Magic Mountain. We had to ride over and over and over again. It did take a lot out of you. There were only a few of us standing at the end of that shoot.
  22. I used to like fish
  23. Theme Parks A Go-Go: Part 5 [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=ThemeParksaGoGopt5[/coastertube]
