^ Thanks, The roller coaster graphic they use for the logo is actually the Texas Cyclone, and like I mentioned I think the only inspiration taken from either one of the Cyclones was the name. I am not an expert on this park by any means I didn't visit it until the mid 90's and I am sure there were many modifications made to the original at that time. I seem to recall at one time the trains on the ride actually had a roof on them, does anyone remember anything about that? -

RIVERSIDE Anyone remember what Six Flags New England was like years ago? Well if not, here is a look back at the park formerly known as Riverside. This goes back to the opening year of the Riverside Cyclone which they tout as being based on the legendary Coney Island Cyclone. I fail to see any similarities except for the name. Of all the old Premier Parks that were transformed into Six Flags I would have to say that the Riverside transformation has been one of the better ones. As part of the team that did the flagging of the park, I have to say I was impressed with the change. Also I am so glad that corporate, after much debate, decided on Six Flags New England rather than Six Flags Riverside! First off...take a ride on the legendary Riverside Cyclone. Six Flags May Not Survive 2009...

Thanks. I have been considering buying stock at these low prices, but with the threat of bankruptcy hanging overhead it really is a gamble. If I could buy stock at this price and the managment pulls it off the payoff could be HUGE! But on the other hand if they file bankruptcy it would all be gone. This kind of reminds me of how I used to play roulette. I would walk up the the wheel and place $500 on black, sometimes I would double my money other times I would lost it all. -

I am not real savy when it comes to buying and selling stocks, so I have this question hopefully some financial genius can answer. What happens to the stock if Six Flags files for bankruptcy? -
Whether or not to keep the animals shouldn't really figure into the buying these parks. The Busch Parks are very successful with the animals and to eliminate them just becuase you don't have experience with them would be a silly move (cough cough Cedar Point). There are plenty of experienced staff on hand that know how to manage, maintain and handle the animals. It is not like the owners of Eftling would have to come in and take care of them themselves. But in reality I find it hard to believe that one theme park in Europe could come to the states and take over one of the most successful theme park chains. I think they will stay on their own continent for their first foray into another gate. Just my opinion

The Beast...how good was this ride back when it first opened? I loved the old trains and no brakes on the first drop! Riding this coaster the first time I rode it in 1979 is a coaster memory I will never forget! The Beast with the good trains -

Worlds of Fun Here is the last brochure of my 1980 series, Worlds of Fun. 1980 was a huge year for this park a they introduced Orient Express, the coaster that really put this park on the map. Shame that it is no longer part of their coaster line up. If you would like to see more on the Orient Express click here Orient Express was probably the best addition made to any park in the 1980 season -

^yes it does seem that dolphin shows were a big attraction in the late 70's and early 80's probably because they didn't have to pay the dolphins as much as the live performers...lol -

Valleyfair! Back in 1980 this park, which was recently purchased by Cedar Point, was starting to show the influence of it's new owners with the addition of the Corkscrew. A slightly modified version of its cousin at Cedar Point. The picture shown in the brochure is obviously from Knott's Berry Farm -

Here is a quick pictorial update. Still a lot going on underground with piping, footings and electrical, but this is the week that you will really start to see vertical constuction. Work will begin first on the giant bucket tower starting tomorrow. The lazy river has also begun as well as footings for the two buildings. The weather has really sucked as of late, snow and cold winds...but not enough to slow us down. POV column-cam Support columns for the mystery yellow B&M track??? an exclusive view from down in the surge tank a new B&M???? I wish! footings, footings, and more footings 300 ton crane is now on site and ready to start moving pieces into place Digging of the lazy river or "Cowabunga River" as we will call it -

Six Flags over Georgia - 1976 Lets do some time travel, LOST style. We are going to go from 1980 back to 1976 when Six Flags over Georgia premiered the first new version of the classic Parachute Tower, "The Great Gasp" Built by Intamin this thrill ride, as they refered to it back in those days, was the first of 4 version built in the states. The lighting package was dynamic and a beautiful icon for the park both day and night. Unfortunately with the advances in technology more thrilling rides became available and the expense of maintaining and upgrading this ride finally did it in and Goliath was built in its place. Only one of these Parachute Towers still exists, originally built at Six Flags over Mid-America, it now is at Six Flags Great Adventure. -

And now for something completely different. The original Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom in Orlando. I am interested to see how the new version turns out. Hopefully it will be as good as Disneyland's remodel. this postcard just screams 1970's
