  1. Spidey as I can't really see anything topping it for me. A Simply spectacular ride especially for a comic geek like me! In saying that, I do love Dinasour as well. Totally caught be by surprise at how good it was and stood up on repeat riding as well.
  2. Hooray Porthcawl - my local(ish) park. Is the Enterprise still there? I haven't been there for years (which is lame as its only 30 minutes away).
  3. Final Photos. Got to love that ending One last ride on BTM Damn photo isn't clear but my score is about 630,000 (honest) This fella was on his way into Its a Small World Fire Ready Aim BTM Broekn down Disney Village Space Mountain and the Nautilus More BTM Action Moteurs Lights

  5. Hi everybody A report and some pics from our trip to Disneyland Paris. We travelled from Cardiff via train to London and then took the Eurostar straight to Disney. We were staying at the Santa Fe which was basic but well worth the extra cash to stay in Disney rather than just outside (plus it had a termite mound and a crashed UFO!!). After a quick unpack we headed over to the Studios and by 3.30pm we were riding the Rock n Roller Coaster. Loved the one in Flordia and this version seemed even better with the launch taking us both by surprise (seemingly longer). It even managed to break my girlfriends watch!! The park was pretty empty despite being a French bank holiday so we took the studio tour (which was pretty cool), rode the flying carpets, watched the Art of Disney Animation presentation (which coincidently was exactly a year from when we watched it at MGM in Florida!!!) and then finished off with the fantastic Cinemagique (loved the bit with the sword). That was closing time for the Studios so Armageddon could wait for another day We headed across to Disneyland and have to agree with all the people who said what a great looking park it is. We started off with Pirates and then made our way to Indiana Jones which I had been looking forward to the most. However my girlfriend, Clare was feeling a bit knackered so we decided to leave it for the morning We rode Phantom Manor, then a blast on Buzz (which seemed to be a perfect copy of the Florida version and therefore brilliant) before the pull of a coaster was too much for Clare and it was time for Space Mountain. We both loved this - not a smooth ride by any means but the whole upwards launch and headbanging, shoulder crushing spin round the planets was fantastic. A great first evening/afternoon. Tuesday's weather was dreadful and after an encounter with TweedleDum and TweedleDee (who rubbed snot on my face, tried to kidnap Clare and then splashed over guests) we ran to Indiana Jones narrowly beating a Swedish couple to the front of the qu.......... metal fence blocking the entrance. We all stood there looking confused before a staff member told us the ride was down for renovation for three weeks I checked my park map for the first time and noticed it was clearly marked on there from Monday 8th. If only I'd checked the map he day before as they must have decided to keep the ride running for the bank holiday. Both gutted (as were the Swedish couple) we headed to BTM which was superb. Loads better than the Florida version and the end bit through the tunnel was great. We rode it twice and then enjoyed a day in the rain riding more or less everything in an emptyish park. We then headed over to the SeaLife centre (which was well worth a visit) and had a look around the Mall. Wednesday we headed for Paris and saw the Mona Lisa, went up Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower and found a small Zoo as well as enjoying a meal and a bottle of wine. Thursday was a full day in the parks, starting with breakfast in Fantasyland and pre-park opening rides on Dumbo, Peter Pan and the Carousel. We clocked up lots of rides this time in glorious sunshine before heading over to the studios where Armageddon was closed for renovation (DOH!) and Rock n Roller Coaster was broken (arrhghhhhhh). We took the bizarre Television Production Tour which we managed to skip most of as the doors were all open. A quick ride on Cyber Space Mountain (not as fun as Disney Quest) and we walked out into the parade where the empty park had suddenly become full. Rock n Roller Coaster was still down but we hung around, the park emptied again and at 2.30 we enjoyed 5 consecutive rides on Rock n Roller Coaster with no queuing time at all (not staying on but walking around). We watched Lights, Motuers, Action which we enjoyed (although we had seen its Florida debut last year) and then back to Disneyland for more rides on Pirates, Space Mountain and Buzz until we crashed out of the park at 8 pretty exhausted. On the Friday we had pretty much the whole day at the park but it was a lot busier so we rode all the main attractions once in both parks (although we had two rides on Buzz as Clare's gun didn't work and I clocked up 600,000 on the second ride!!!!!!) and enjoyed going twice round the park on the train finishing off with a final ride on BTM before heading home. We were both very impressed by the Paris Disney experience having been slightly sceptical that it would live up to our experiences in Florida last year. The rides were excellent (loved all three coasters, fantasyland rides were cool, pirates and Phantom Manor were great, Cinemagique and Animagique were both excellent shows). Disneyland was fantastically themed and just a lovely park to walk around with lots of paths leading to small walkthrough attractions or waterfalls or just another brilliant bit of theming, the staff were all incredibly polite and helpful and staying in the resort and being able to walk to the parks was brilliant. Studios was a bit sparse but that allowed us to ride Rock n Roller Coaster 5 times during the middle of the day so I'm not complaining and once Crush coaster and the Tower is up then it'll be a great second park. Only negatives was the food selection wasn't brilliant at Disney Village - for the cost (we loved Rainforest Cafe at AK but the menu didn't look as good here) and a lot of the restaurants inside the park were closed for renovation. And that Indy, Armageddon and the tea cups were down for renovation but that’s my fault for not reading the map Thoroughly recommend a trip and its exciting to think that there is a Disney park just over the water that I can hopefully afford to go to on a regular basis (especially once the Tower opens) and at times walking around with the castle in view and the sun shining it felt like we were back in Florida. Let the photos commence. We're painting the roses red I want his job - snot, puddles, splashing Victory Ready Aim Fire A view of the mountain A view of the castle Taken from BTM La Castle Not great weather Why didn't I go on it on Monday. Why didn't I check the map!!!!! Yo Ho Ho Ho More from Reign of Fire This set was pretty cool - I thought it was better without an actual dragon. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Day 1 and there are not a lot of people about
  6. Hands up as a rule or one hand when the restraints won't let me get both hands up without me dislocating my arm (as was the case with Space Mountain in DLP this week). Last year, I tried linking my hands behind my head for a ride on the Kraken. A pretty cool way to ride the opening drop as the thought was in my mind that if the restraints did fly open I wouldn't be able to brng my hands down to stop them. Hmmmm, I'm sounding like I've got a death wish!
  7. Construction photos from this week. Nothing too exciting but they seemed to be making progress across the week. As the park was pretty empty all week except when the parade or Lights, Motors, Action was starting/ending they may need to get a shift on. Friday Afternoon (12/05/06) Exciting crane action Friday Afternoon (12/05/06) Hard at work Thursday (11/05/06) A view from Thunder Mountain Also taken Monday (08/05/06) Taken Monday (08/05/06)
  8. Construction photos from this week. Nothing too exciting but they seemed to be making progress across the week. As the park was pretty empty all week except when the parade or Lights, Motors, Action was starting/ending they may need to get a shift on. Taken Monday (08/05/06)
  9. Oops - only posted one of them. Taken yesterday
  10. Some pics of the construction that I've taken over the last week. Sorry that they are not the best pics - the first one is taken from flying carpets. As of yesterday they seemed to have taken to wrapping part of the track in tin foil and boxes!!! Can anyone enlighten me why? A blurry picture of crush taken from the Flying Carpets.
  11. I enjoyed last nights episode but for some reason Rose really really annoyed me throughout. I expected to dislike Billie Piper's character when I started wathcing series 1 but I didn't - however, last night she really grated on me.
  12. I'm not sure - I handed it in and the staff member didn't seem too concerned.

Anyhoo - to finish off are my top ten rides from the trip: 1 - Kraken 2 - Amazing Adventures of Spiderman 3 - Tower of Terror 4 - Incredible Hulk 5 - Revenge of the Mummy 6 - Mission Space 7 - Dinosaur 8 - Bilge Rat Barges 9 - Kumba 10 - Dueling Dragons and then lots lots more Day 14 - SeaWorld/Magic Kingdom - The next morning we checked our bags and spent the morning at Typhoon Lagoon snorkling and slide riding before heading back to Blighty. Day 13 - Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios: After saying goodbye to Islands we headed to the Hard Rock Cafe for Lunch before our final visit to Universal Day 13 - Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios: Islands was possibly our favourite park - great rides and we loved the clockwise walk around the lake going from ride to ride Day 13 - Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios: Once again we got there early and walked onto all the rides even getting to ride Pteranodon Flyers as they were letting anyone on. Day 13 - Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios: We decided to go for Islands first for our third and final trp to Universal
  14. One more set after this. Day 12 - AK/Epcot/MGM:We then crashed out and watched Fantasmic. A great and long day. Day 12 - AK/Epcot/MGM: Two rides on the Tower in the dark. The second being the scariest of all four rides plus Rock n Roller Coaster, Millionaire and a couple of the exhibits Day 12 - AK/Epcot/MGM: A ride on Figment and a goodbye to the mantees at Living Seas we headed off to MGM Day 12 - AK/Epcot/MGM: Then to Epcot where I got my Goofy photo, we rode Mission Space twice, saw Honey I Shrunk the Audience and played around in Innovations Day 12 - AK/Epcot/MGM: We managed to go on safari, re-ride the awesome dinosaur and go round all the animal exhibits before a great lunch at the rainforest cafe. Day 12 - AK/Epcot/MGM - Coming to the end of our holiday we decided to visit three Disney Parks in the same day. Staring at AK wishing Everest wasn't 9 months from completion Day 11 - Wet n Wild/Seaworld: We clocked up another three rides on the Kraken as well. Day 11 - Wet n Wild/Seaworld: Mr Pelican didn't like the outside world so he came back on his own. Day 11 - Wet n Wild/Seaworld: While watching the pelicans we watched this cheeky lad escape from the enclosure by jumping onto a boat and over the fence - we told one of the staff and she radioed for assistance. Day 11 - Wet n Wild/Seaworld: No photos from Wet n Wild as we used an underwater camera but we had a good morning riding the slides. In the afternoon we took the I-Trolley to Seaworld. Day 10 - Everglades Tour: In the afternoon we took a boat ride upto the Gulf before settling on a beach for a few hours. Due to the traffic we didn't get back to Orlando until 2.30am! Day 10 - Everglades Tour: A great day spotting animals in their natural environment - gators, racoons, antelopes, staggs, eagles, pelicans, dolphins, deers and ostrichs. Day 10 - Everglades Tour: We took a day off from the parks and headed down to the Everglades for an airboat ride and swamp buggy tour.
  15. He was right up close to the glass and I was lucky enough to get the shot without any reflection.
  16. And even more photos. Day 9 - Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios: A on-ride shot of the Mummy. Day 9 - Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios: After Islands we headed over to the Studios for more Jaws, Men in Black and Mummy. Day 9 - Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios: Nice and wet again. People were staring as we walked towards Bilge Rat Barges and wondering how we were so wet so early. Day 9 - Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios: What do you do if you've been to all the parks and still have half the holiday left? Go to them all again. We took the front seat of the first Hulk ride of the day and then went round all of the park once Day 8 - Busch Gardens: If we had gone back I think it would have ended up as my favourite park. Day 8 - Busch Gardens: My only regret on the holiday is we didn't go back to Busch. Day 8 - Busch Gardens: Shiekra was a week away from opening but we loved all the animal stuff and went out on the plain to feed antelopes, giraffes and scary wood storks. Day 8 - Busch Gardens: We did get to ride all the other rides but only once but Montu and Kumba were awesome. Clare hated Gwazi but I loved it. Day 8 - Busch Gardens: Wanting to split our time between the rides and animals we missed out on a few rides - Cheetah Chase, Haunted Lighthouse, Rapids and Tidal Wave (which was shut) Day 8 - Busch Gardens: Animals and Coasters!!! We travelled to Busch via Seaworld and it was school trip time as there were kids everywhere. Day 7 - MGM: The backlot tour was great with all the vehicles from films. A great park and probably my favourite Disney park. We got to appear on the big screen at Millionaire as well. Day 7 - MGM: Nope! I'm amazed that not only was the ministorm accuratly predicted but the stunt show took place straight afterwards. Day 7 - MGM: The Indy show got called off due to a storm so we headed for Lights, Motors, Action which was debuting that day. Would the storm stop the show? Day 7 - MGM: And with good cause. A fantastic and terrifying ride. We rode it twice and it was just as scary the second time. Really really well designed and themed as well. Day 7 - MGM: I loved MGM, all the film stuff, the brilliant rock n roller coaster and the t t t t t t t t t ower - I'm not a fan of normal lifts so I was a bit scared of this

Day 4 - Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure - We then got even more wet on Bilge Rat Barges (best rapids ever!!!) and JP before drying off with two rides on Ice and one on Fire before a final ride on the Hulk. An amazing, amazing day. Day 4 - Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure - Having not planned to visit Islands that day we proceded to go on all the rides cold as all the people at the park suddenly disapeared and we walked straight onto everything. Spidey was spectacular, amazin Day 4 - Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure - Except the Hulk was calling us. We arrived and the queue was an hour long BUT there were fastpasses available for 5 minutes time!!! Day 4 - Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure - At 4.00pm after a cracking day, three rides on the Mummy (bows down to the greatness of the Mummy) we decided to have a quiet evening........ Day 4 - Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure - SHARK ATTACK!!! We loved Universal Studios and were gob smacked at the rides, shows and effects Day 4 - Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure - After Men In Black, BTF and Jaws. I decided to get curious and got soaked for my trouble. Day 4 - Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure - Doors opened early so we ran to Men in Black but I quickly got distracted.
  19. I've been meaning to do this for ages and as it is nearly a year ago that I went on a two week dream holiday to Orlando I thought I'd better get with the posting. Me and my girlfriends ventured to Orlando last year for two weeks of Theme Parks, Theme Parks and more theme parks. There was a concern about how we were going to fit everything in and the fact that my girlfriend, Clare wasn't a coaster fan but thanks to three rides on the Kraken on Day One and deciding that sleep was an over-rated pass time we went everywhere, rode everything and then went back and rode it again. I'll let the pictures tell the story but over the course of the two week holiday staying on International Drive - we managed three trips to Sea World (and nine rides on the Kraken), three days at Universal hitting both parks, a day at each Disney Park and then a triple header of Animal Kingdom, Epcot and MGM as well as another evening at Magic Kingdom plus half a day at Wet and Wild, a day at Busch Gardens, a day at Kennedy, a trip to the Everglades (including a boat ride in Naples), visited two malls and spent our time before we flew home at Blizzard Beach! Highlights included, well it was all a highlight, but - Getting to Universal Studios before opening and having the park almost to ourselves for the first hour and a half, doing everything and then popping over to Islands at 4.00pm and finding ourselves walking straight onto every ride one after the other totally gob-smacked at our first visit to this amazing place finishing with three rides on Dragons and a second ride on Hulk by 7.00pm (that was a long day). - Feeding a Giraffe at Busch Gardens and having a great day there (sadly we were a week too early for Sheikra). - All of Seaworld especially the Kraken and the Manatees. - All the film memorabilia at Universal and MGM. - Being terrified by the Tower of Terror (I hate lifts) and continuing to be terrified by it the next three times. - Marvel Super Hero Island having a comic shop (I'm a comic geek). - Eating all the food in the world and then designing the slowest but loopiest coaster at Disney Quest. - Actually - all of it - every single second of it - except Beetlejuices Graveyard Review. I'll be quiet now. On with the photos and counting down to Disneyland Paris in a fortnight!! Day 3: Kennedy Space Centre - A very interesting place. Thoroughly enjoyed our day. Day 3: Kennedy Space Centre - This beast of a building - you can drive a bus down one of the stripes on the flag. Day 3: Kennedy Space Centre - The shuttle on the launch pad, The next day it went back into......... Day 2: Magic Kingdom - Surprised how much I remembered from previous visit. Had a fun day, loads of rides, great weather and danced with a country bear. Day 2: Magic Kingdom - My girlfriend, Clare - isn't she lovely. Day 2: Magic Kingdom - I wore the goofy hat every day we visited Disney (well, its difficult to wear it anywhere else - although my girlfriend's sister is getting married soon.......) Day 2: Magic Kingdon - Don't say hello................ Day 2: Magic Kingdon - First ride was a blast with Buzz. Great fun Day 2: Magic Kingdom - I'd been here nearly 20 years before but it was Clares first visit. Day 1 - Seaworld: A great first day - three rides on the Kraken, two on Atlantis, stroked a penquin, rubbed down a dolphin and fed seals and sealions. Day 1 - Seaworld: Now that is a big Killer Whale Day 1 - Seaworld: Okay - Perhaps you'd prefer the fish! Day 1 - Seaworld: Mmmmmm Lunch!? Day 1 - Seaworld: My first and favourite coaster of the holiday - THE KRAKEN Day 1 - Seaworld: First ride of the holiday - the Awesome Atlantis
  20. I'm looking to go to Disneyland Paris between Monday 8th May to Friday 12th May. I've noticed that the 8th May is VE day in France so I assume the parks will be busy but we won't be getting there until after lunch. Is the rest of the week likely to be very busy or woud it be an okay week to go?
  21. Cool TR!!! I wanna go now!!!!
  22. Found another one!!! Flume
  23. Rapids at Alton Towers (sorry couldn't resist) Haunted Rapids
  24. First two are from Orlando this year. I spent so long making a stupid face on the Mummy waiting for the photo that my girlfriend thought something was wrong with me. Dinosaur picture is pure fear though!!! Rest are Alton Towers in 98 and 99. Silly Boys The haunted rapids Oh no, I looked - what happens if I looked???? Water, water, everywhere The Black Hole. R.I.P Rapids, baby Whats that flash for? The Mummy Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
