  1. I have moved the lift to the other side of my room. I also installed two motors. When I turn on the power, it looks like the train gets pulled up by a cable lift, rather than a chain lift. It's fast.
  2. The lift is about to be topped off.
  3. -------------------------- Project 2007 -------------------------- The time has come again; I needed to build a new knex roller coaster. 'Which style are you going to use, Jogumpie?' Well, this coaster will be a so-called Intamin Megacoaster. 'Why not Bolliger & Mabillard?' I have only experienced Intamin Megacoasters and they are still one of my favorites. Their layout was also better than others's in my opinion. 'What is the coaster's name?' That is something I will keep secret for a while. 'When will construction start?' It already started, please take a look at the picture below.
  4. I was just going to post a thread about my new knex coaster. I will join, however I may not make the deadline. I shouldn't worry about that right now, though.
  5. Wanna know my opinion? I think it is ...cool.
  6. ^There are a lot of different styles. Python doesn't even have brakes, since the train loses its last energy on the (slightly upward) 'brake' run before the station. A few days ago, I got an e-mail from K'NEX. They do not want to coöperate anymore and this means the end of the project. It really sucks for the other two builders, I don't really mind myself. I will be having lots of exams in April and May and I am getting more interested in CoasterDynamix.
  7. I didn't really find what I was looking for. The heights of all the elements are rather important to me, like the height of the track just before the loop. Since there is no main floor, comparing heights is impossible.
  8. Sorry to bring this topic up again. Does anyone have a map of Black Mamba? Or a NoLimits version? I need it for my next project.
  9. ^^^Check out the supports. As you can see, these are so-called constant radius supports. On top of these supports, I placed connections that could be turned into the right angle. Then I simply added track. Because the track is banked at about 70*, the bending is almost completely vertical, instead of lateral. And Knex track can bend easier in that direction, because of the way the crossties are connected to the two backbone rods.
  10. My first launched coaster was Superman: The Ride (now Xpress) in Walibi World. It was really awesome, but when I visited it 2 or 3 years later (this spring) it actually really sucked.
  11. I wish you could smooth it out, it's really bumpy right now. You could use this as reference, I built it ehm....in December 2004.
  12. ^I will update you as soon as I have more to show. I do have a mini camera and I will use it. I will have to edit a lot to make it look like it's working, because I will have to push the train at several points to make it go round. I strapped on a mini camera before and this is the result.
  13. Hehe. Cool, but I think the Nitro part was a little too long.
  14. ^^^At first we wanted to build the tallest coaster, but I don't think it is original to try anymore. Many other people recommended building the longest coaster, so we started brainstorming. We chose Goliath, because it is a great coaster and it might give us the opportunity to set it up in the park itself. Our first goal was building a working model, and to make the coaster long, we chose for a 4,00m / 13ft lift hill. Getting the train over the first airtime hill was piece of cake, but that was the only good part. The turn and the Stengel dive drained energy from the train and we would have to lower the Stengel dive to approx. 1,50m / 5ft, in order to let the train make it over the top. Imagine how small the bunnyhops at the end of the ride would be... That is why we changed plans and started to build a full-scale model, which doesn't actually work. I know it really sucks it won't be working, but I also think it will look so much better when all the elements are at the right scale. Time for some specs (can be changed though): Lift hill height: 4,10m / 13 ft. 8" Airtime hill height: 3,00m / 10 ft. Stengel dive height: 2,40m / 8 ft. Diameter turnaround: 4,00m / 13 ft. 4" First bückel height: 1,70m / 5 ft. 8" Diameter helix: 4,00m / 13 ft. 4" Second bückel height: 1,20m / 4 ft. Bunny hops heights: 1,00m / 3 ft. 4"
  15. Rofl. We are aiming for a 3-day event: 28-29-30 april. So if you have a day off by then... I re-did the track and it is much smoother now.
  16. Walibi World offered quite some space for us to set it up. We will use a stage by the way.
  17. Here are pictures of the, in my opinion bumpy, helix. I will try to use normal rods instead of flexi's for the track, this might remove the bumps.
  18. ^^^^^Like 7, plus 2 Rippin Rockets and lots of other sets. I have over 40k pieces myself. The other two guys both have like 4 coaster sets. ^^Well... we started in June, but had to stop in mid August. I don't have much time myself, since I am in the last year of high school. This means I will have to build as much as I again till mid January. And about that El Toro guy... he's cancelling lots of models. I don't expect so much from him. Back to the Goliath model: I am working on the helix as I said before. The highest point will be 11 yellow rods from the ground (121cm;48") and I have just reached the height of 3 yellow rods.
  19. Hey everyone! In June I started building a HUGE recreation of the Intamin Megacoaster in Walibi World, Goliath. Together with two other guys (both 15; I'm 17), I am building the coaster and planning an event around it. The K'NEX company and Walibi World are assisting us, we actually got some extra pieces and it is most probably we are going to set up the whole model in the amusement park itself. We had to delay lots of stuff, causing us to be at the current state: A few parts have been built, like the station. About half of the ride has been designed or built before, so can be built again rather quickly. I started building the large helix in the middle of the ride. I do not have pictures of the helix I am building. I have pictures from earlier construction though.
  20. Pegasus at De Efteling in like 1999.
  21. ^^^^Yes. WD40 sure reduces friction. Especially when you're applying it for the first time. You can also use silicon spray. ^^^That's Horse of Troy, my "wooden" coaster model (http://www.knexprojects.nl/photogallery.php?photo=657). ^^You can always build outside or in a large hall where the ceiling's just 33 feet from the floor.
  22. ^In every straight spot. By adding more crossties and more connections to the supports. The roll you have should be a bit heartlined, instead of what you now have. It's quite hard to make it heartlined, but it is possible.
