  1. As far as I am concerned there taking out the most unique part of the park for a fad. Which is an extremely bad idea. I don't think IOA will ever be the same for me. Truly there is part of me that hopes HP is a complete failure and makes them regret there decision. And really isn't dragons part of that whole mystical wizardly stuff ... Why could they just not create it so that they could leave DD alone.
  2. Hopefully its just a bad pic. Or they could just fix it red neck stile. Just tie a rope to each end and get a bunch of people to pull on it until it fits
  3. This really is such a shame. I am surprised more people are not making a big deal out of this. While its a shame to see any park go, parks with a lot less history have seen a lot more opposition to there closer. For any one that does not know about the history of the park, or would like to learn more about the history of the park, this is a great web site.
  4. I hope you don't mind me asking this but I having been trying to find info on this ride type for the last few days, and my searches have came back empty. Its the ride where its the big wooden disc that spins fast and the challenge is for the riders to stay on it with out getting thrown off. Any info or links (especially to pics or videos would be appreciated)
  5. Thanks Norman for taking time out to answer our questions. Here is a question I have always wondered about. Lets say I own a park and I go to B&M saying I want to build a B&M invert in my park. Now what part of the engineering does the coaster compony do and what part of the engineering does Stengel Engineering do?
  6. Lets just say this was the ride that started my addiction to coaster Just go for it inverts are one of my favorite kind of coasters. There great.
  7. Mechanical this ride will be a lot simpler then X. There are cars that use air bag suspensions similar to the ride in that animation. How often do car suspensions need to be fixed? As for the wait, while when people are in the ride the cars will definitely way more but the wait of the car will be heavy enough to keep the ride stable enough. 4 people at 200 pound each is 800 pounds the coater car will probably easily be double that if not more.
  8. I am no security expert, and I am not going to say its a good thing people can get knives in to parks, but chances are security is really trying to stop people from bringing guns in to a park. Knives can definitely injure, and even kill people but if some one got a gun in to a park just think of how many people that can injure and kill and the panic that would brake out.
  9. I definitely would not say this concept is going to be the next big thrill coaster but I would not put it down so fast. I think this ride would produce quite an unique experience. I could definitely see this making for a really nice family coaster. If the ride is family friendly, gives a pretty good ride, and is themed nicely it will probably pretty popular at a park. For the most part most of the people here are probably always looking for the next most thrilling ride we can find (me included) but running a successful park is not all about appealing to just the major thrill seekers. You need to create a balance in a park, and a ride that could be appealing to both thrill seekers that want to experience something new, families, and non major thrill seekers all in one makes for a very balanced ride (witch are often the most popular attractions). Also don't forget a lot of the general public likes gimmicks to a point (witch this ride can fall under in some ways). For the most part SUF always seams to get a long line. Between the flying gimmick and not being the most intense ride it always seams to draw a big crowed.
  10. I know doing things like this can be a lot of work, but its definitely worth the work at the end. Its looking good so far. Those links should be able to work in both FF and IE. I know I have used jump tags like those before on web pages and they work on both FF and IE. Try making them like a1 instead of just a that might do the trick. If you need any help fell free to ask I have worked on some custom content management systems before.
  11. Nice job with the picture some are really well done. This really does look like a SF park with a very good future. Some times you need to have the right equipment also to improve your skills. I really need to buy a good digital camera. The digital camera I have takes good picture if your taking just regular pictures of like people and things, but when I try to get creative with it such as with action shots, night, sun rise, sunset and other creative things it just cant keep up. (ex the picture will be fine but what was moving is all blurry and to blurry to use for any thing) Only reason I have yet to get one is I am really in to video and not sure if I want to go HD (I would get both if i had the money). I can continue going on but I don't want to start ranting, I can say from many experiences though that not having the right equipment can really hold you back.
  12. Nice TR I was supposed to be there, actually up until friday night I stile thought I was going. The plan was originally to make it a few day trip but then Monday my brother had back surgery. So then just me and my dad where going to go for the day but Friday when I got home from work my parents told me I could not go cause they needed my help. Glad to hear it was a great ride maybe I can make it up to HP next year. Stile kind of annoyed about not being able to go affter looking fowards to it since September Ps. some of those photos where really nice.
  13. I think if a lap bar is done right its perfectly safe. Schwarzkopf, who is probably one of the greatest coaster makers of all timed proved just how safe a proper lap bar can be.
  14. It's a new and very complicated ride technology, hopefully there working on getting all the bugs out now so there wont be down time once it opens. I know this has been the ride that has interested me the most since this park started. I cant wait to see it run.
  15. What about updating to PHPBB3 its so much nicer for both the user on the front end end and for administrating and moding on the back end.
  16. If HP was to put in a hyper coaster I truly fell they would have one of the most rounded coaster collections out there. Really I cant think of any other major coaster type besides for a hyper that HP does not already have.
  17. Personally I am not a fan of water marks. While I have no connections to Coasterdom to know for sure it could possibly be that there image system just automatically adds the water mark and depending on how the system works it could be a real pain to override. I am not defending there decision at all but just giving a possible explanation.
  18. I might be looking in to this so much but did any one else notice this in pic 6 Seams a bit out of place to me
  19. I am one of the 11 and have not gotten any pics yet so hop fully I will have some coming my way. So far has every one that has gotten a pic been one of the 11?
  20. What about great bare, store runner, and super duper looper all at HP. those are definitely rides that would lose some of there appeal if moved.
  21. I have to say while I think a train makes almost any picture look better some of these are really neat, I like the Rita one.
  22. Nice find I always wondered where this came from.
  23. I know people aren't going to like me saying this but a coaster that jumps off its tracks is more possible I fell then most people think, if you think abut it in a little lees of a conventional way. Right now every one is looking at it from a very conventional stand point and not being creative enough As for the tilt coaster I always wanted to see more of them, wonder if that also is an insurance problem. As for the coaster that goes up and down that is cool. As for the idea of using inner and out tracks that would be really cool I think on a coaster like griffin that is 10 wide. Think about and then as you approach the drop and are on the holding brake the middle track disappears and all that is holding you up is two side tracks that you can position off in a way that most people wont even realize there there. The problem is with this is you need a way to aline the wheels just right or again you can have a catastrophic failure. Track switching during a ride I do fell would be possible if designed properly. and especially if it is done at block brake sections, if something in the switch doesn't go right they can just stop the ride.
  24. Really nice picture, great job. I have seen some really good pics around this site but this has to be one of the best. I defnitly would be interested in seeing some of your other coaster pics.
  25. I am thinking maybe we should make a list of every one that got invited.
