^A microburst is MUCH different is what is heading your way. And what would hurt you could be coming from miles away considering that there are constant 50MPH winds. Guess you'll see in a while.
-
^I think they just move them from one side of the island to another. But if the hurricane is moving through the whole island, they just head toward the higher ground where the hurricane may be the weakest and hope for the best.
-
^Yeah they suck. They need to update their newscast! We'll get the rain and wind from the hurricane of course, but it doesn't look like a direct hit. Look at http://www.noaa.gov for the latest weather if you want to get current info. This is their three day projection: Looks like Cuba's going to get it.

^The only thing is sometimes tornados get spawned from tropical storms. You don't want to be outside in them at all. Tropical/Hurricane parties are indoors only! I've been to a few, but you drink and play games inside until the storm blows over. I'm not sure how you can enjoy yourself in a torrential downpour with winds over 45 mph blowing stuff around. Rain hurts at that speed. 45 MPH winds make soda bottles or cans projectiles. And how exactly are you going to keep the chips and chairs in place with that much wind? Not too smart. Get in the house and stay there! I heard one time about a guy that wanted to see what was going on outside during a hurricane, so he opened his door. The pressure that resulted from the air rushing in damaged his roof. Keep the door closed until it's over. Some of you guys have some crazy ideas that need to be kept to just "inside voices". Terry

Actually he didn't because his hard head went down there anyway. That same water you were crossing was the same water that backed up the sewer system and stinks. Hope you took a good shower before everything backed up. Another reason to stay out of the water and stay home. If you get a little sick from it, don't say anything to us. Some people just don't want to listen and stay out of dangerous situations. Anyway The latest advisory from Ike has south florida almost out of the cone, but it looks like it's heading back to the New Orleans area again. Hope that water went down, because they're gonna get more and this might really flood the city. It may be a 2 or 3 when it hit the gulf coast next weekend.

Beemerboy, Linda LoveLace or Dolemite For President
terrancew_hod replied to Scaparri's topic in Random, Random, Random
Agreed! But Pam usually stood against what our nominated candidates are standing for!, so we can't include her on the list. Same for Superfly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-stsl0c7STw I see I got another vote for my candidate (that person knows what's up! The original PMW candidate!), but I have to put him on the campaign trail... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91xGIRSAfoc As a side note a good chunk of Rudy Ray Moore's (Dolemite) albums just showed up as MP3 downloads have appeared on Amazon! And I just found the track that I've been looking 8 years for (A skit called Mr Big D..) ! If you like your comedy raw and vile (and you're over 18), I would download one of the tracks. One of his relatively clean PMW jokes went something like this: Terry -
The latest advisory has the hurricane moving more into the gulf... at a cat 4! Won't know exactly where it's headed until Monday, but where ever it heads it won't be good. An even worse projection for the gulf coast states but better for my part of the country.

Beemerboy, Linda LoveLace or Dolemite For President

Guess I'm going to have to have a fund raiser for Dolemite! Take it away Jimmy! Edit: I want that outfit for Halloween! I want to do my '70s moves again and wear my afro! Terry -
Beemerboy, Linda LoveLace or Dolemite For President

Since you kids don’t know how to have a political discussion without launching the venom, let’s have some different choices. I've put together three candidates that probably have similar similar platforms; so who would you cast your vote for? Beemer Boy: Overtaking McCain the in the previous poll, Beemer stands for... err... what do you stand for again? Dolemite: America's pimp. Advocating the legalization of prostitution, his motto is "Sell it, ladies, SELL IT." He doesn't stand for the issues, he lays on them. Linda Lovelace: Known for the classic "Deep Throat". She really doesn't stand for anything either, but she'll probably kneel for it. I voted for Dolemite, myself. Cast your votes and if you have any write in candidates, fill free to nominate them! Terry "We'll see how this goes" Weaver "Dolemite, I put your First Ladies into Kung Fu school. And they real good too!" If Dolemite was President, he'd go find Bin Laden himself and kick his A$$! Dolemite and his potential "First Ladies" Linda Lovelace and her platform PMW we can believe in! -
^Chances are he may be still without power. They're still trying to get things together. But in other news, just saw the latest advisory: The model keeps moving south, and now it's projecting the gulf again. If that happens, I'm willing to bet it's heading for Louisiana again. South Florida isn't in the clear but it's shifted away from us in the last 12 hours.

A 2-for-Thursday special: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/florida/sfl-904ocalafakemoney,0,781197,print.story Oops! I don't know which is sadder: The quality of guardians in this state or the fact that the kid was dumb enough to be passing fake money around like he was big pimpin. http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2008/sep/03/purse-snatcher-loses-fake-breast-during-crime-st-l/ I saw the "faux breast" the thief dropped; that's some incredibly bad "poor man's drag" he was trying to pull off! Hey Whitney! A breast made out of a water-filled condom and a dirty sock. Then that thing was put into a tube top. A full mess

I got hit on by a lady (who wasn't wrapped too tight) named Janie Penny at JCPenney. I'm not making this up. Terry -
Well, I'm guessing life slowly returns to normal in the Big Easy. I just got an email from one of the gay bars down there telling everyone they're reopening tomorrow at 5pm. You know the gays need their cocktails! What I want to know is how I ended up on their mailing list. I haven't even been down there since 1996! Terry

^Well I'll be on parole from my exercise program in October; I need to use my Universal Pass! We can always get the gang together for another gathering like the one last year! But back on getting Miss "I'm going to be stupid and run out in the storm and hurt myself"... I hope that picture gets through to him that you don't want to be near the coast when a storm surge comes in. It won't be just water you'll have to deal with. Debris and possibly downed power lines are hazards you want to avoid. Go inland and be safe to ride a coaster another day! Terry

Theme Park Review's 2008 Asia Tour!
terrancew_hod replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I loved the theming in the park! I'm still spoiled over some of the European rides, instead of here just plopping a ride down with a queue and saying "We're done. Get on!" Terry -
Also Chrome keeps track of all your surfing habits and sends it back to google. Read this for more info. Don't do it. Terry

Fixed. You don't want to be on the beach when you see several feet of water come crashing in: To be totally honest, your big butt won't be able to outrace this thing coming in, so stay home and away from the beach!

Unless it was part of some nonrefundable package deal, I would have tried to do some rescheduling. Any time a hurricane goes up either coast of Florida, there's going to be bad weather in the state. Otherwise, I would have bought some ponchos and headed out. The rain was bad in spurts because of the feeder bands in Miami, but really didn't get too bad until Saturday night; you probably didn't get the bad stuff until much later. I get emails from Disney about great hotel deals in late August through October... that's because "people in the know" knows those are the hurricane months and chances are high that some type of tropical disturbance will blow through and ruin your weekend. I usually plan my Disney trips in late october-november or early in the spring for sales and to avoid hurricanes. Terry
-
^^Yeah. Sit at home with the doors closed and stay safe. Running around with flying debris is not a good idea. Terry

I finished upgrading my Powerbook to a bigger hard drive and added a new PRAM module. I also overclocked my computer to 3.29GHz from 2.4... ...all while being hung over from this weekends partying. And poor Sandra Bernhard... she died on stage at a club this weekend. Somebody should have told her and the organizers that wasted kids do not want to hear jokes for 30 minutes; they want to dance and do naughty stuff. Kids were just talking amongst themselves. Finally Sandra said, turn on the music and I'll just speak over it! I went to the bathroom to pee. Terry

^I was going to say something to that effect in response. But I figured eventually someone was going to respond. "Weed" is only about as dangerous as the person using it. People have to be responsible with things they do; that includes alcohol. Heck, weed is legal in Amsterdam and you don't hear about people dying and doing stupid stuff there. When I was there this summer, the only people acting up was some people from Germany yelling in the street because their team won a soccer match... and I think they were drunk rather than being high. That said, I agree that kids under 18 shouldn't be doing it because a good number of them haven't learned about doing anything responsibly.... you know that nasty thing called peer pressure? Terry
-
I went out last night and it was windy and rainy with heavy downpours; and we're on the other side of the state from where Gustav is! It was funny to see a drunk girl get knocked on her a$$ from a strong wind gust. Terry
-
I think we're getting the feeder bands for Gustav now. It's been raining hard for about 5-10 minutes at a time then stopping. I saw the latest satellite and it's getting big... and it's a cat 4 now. It's now projected that the hurricane will be a cat 5 soon and may make landfall as at least a 4. It's gonna be a really ugly storm. I'm also looking out for Tropical Storm Hanna, since it's east of us. I think we'll be getting rain from that or possible hit by that my the end of next week. Terry

Um, isn't studying your priority? School just started! I see you're 18 so this may be your freshman year; I'd get acclimated to life away from home and studying before you throw dating into the mix. There will be more than enough time for that after you get settled in your classes. Terry
