MF could not do it. Station is a terrible design imo already. Maverick has a single rider line but it starts 40ft from the load platform. TTD also has staton design that prohibits a smooth single rider flow.

Yeah...no. Ha, I would never post that picture anywhere.

Probably because I only park in Soak City parking...so much faster and quicker access in and out of park, plus situated almost right in middle of the park. -
And you win the prize...I have one that is NSFW. Really funny you mentioned that...I am pretty sure I cant post it here. But lets say, overweight woman with low cut top on Maverick...

Thankfully I found a 2 year old 100-400mm on ebay at a reasonable price. I also lucked out that I lost some stuff in a fire that I wasnt attached to, so, after the claim I put it towards the lens and the tripod combo. 1600 total for both but entirely worth it. Long as nothing tragic happens, I plan to have it for many, many years. I was really scared it wouldnt be as sharp at 400mm as I wanted (and Id seen some VERY sharp copies on the web...mostly new or lucky ones) and after enough research found the last 3 years models to be sharp to very sharp. This one is between that from 100-400 (at 100mm its stupid sharp) but at 400mm from f7.1 and up its sharp enough for that kind of distance. If you have a canon camera, I can recommend this lens in a heartbeat. Just ensure you get a newish lens.

With the arrival of my new lens I can now pretty much capture any shot Ive not been able to in the past. This year Im dedicating it to creating a pretty comprehensive gallery of photos. Today was mostly a "test" day and I may delete or edit these further, but I figured I would share these first 50 with you. Mostly all of MF, TTD and Maverick with a few randoms thrown in. Ill organize them all later. And because I know Ill be asked at some point, heres my camera setup: Canon 40D Canon 28-135mm IS Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro Canon 100-400mm IS L Slik Pro 713 CF II Tripod Manfrotto 498RC4 Ball head Round 2 of photos! 42 more! Last 19 photos Yes, I took this sideways as they are going DOWN the drop. Kinda angled the camera wrong, oh well.

Then youll enjoy it for what it is. Its quite a bit different than a wave swinger. Those have the added bonus of additional movement on another axis where this is static. However, just the climb to the top is rather cool. Also, do yourself a favor, if it feels like youre rotating "slow" look across the tower to the seats across from you, then youll see the world flying by as you focus on an object moving at your speed. Its disorienting and impressive. The sheer scale of the ride takes away from how fast its actually going. -

Its still a thrill ride...300ft up going round at like 20mph or so? Yea, a lot of us are callused to this sort of thing but I enjoyed it for what it was. I didnt expect much and was actually surprised and enjoyed it. Has good ridership so far. -

QFT. If it was dangerous, the ride wouldn't be operating. I'm sure the ride is designed to do this, to ensure that there is enough lee-way on the joints to prevent excess stress on the arms. Besides, other chairswings and similar rides (especially those with chains) do this as well, so I'm sure that if it was unsafe, they wouldn't be operating the ride. And as someone stated before, it's not like the seats are swinging around at Skyhawk-like speeds. It's relatively slow, and I doubt it's enough to injure anyone if they were to bump up against each other. That's all it takes is for one car just to touch another one or not even that, just get close and the next thing you know there is a lawsuit because somehow some idiot got "injured" when this happened. On Raptor if you ride in the left hand seats you could smash your leg up bad either in the turn out of the station or the drop because the trains turn in. Exact same situation as Windseeker but Raptor still runs. I do this all the time I just dont lock my leg up against the car in front. But its still fun to mess around with. Guess if I ever do twist my leg or something Ill just use this excuse, it should hold up. -

You think theyd overlook a ride rotating 300ft in the air? Located on a peninsula known for crazy weather? I doubt it man. I've lived near Lake Erie all my life. Everyone knows how unpredictable and quick weather changes around here. On top of that, I doubt the manufacturer said "this would never happen" and instead I'm sure CP was aware this issue could happen. You didn't see the ride e-stopped immediately did you? Id bet while maybe something not seen before, I doubt it was dismissed as impossible. -

Well, the night I took my pictures I watched it for some 2hrs. The winds were calm and I'm inclined to believe that's what was causing this. I wouldn't be alarmed, I am very certain they planned for this especially since anything 300ft up will tend to deal with more wind than ground level. But I spent 20min in line and never once saw what that video did. Then, after almost 90min of photography, still saw nothing. I watched it till its last ride of the night. There was no movement like that whatsoever. My ride on Windseeker also reflected that. Not sure its as much cause for concern as everyone is making it out to be. Theres a few minds on here acting like its some design flaw and the rides going to turn Windseekers into ConcreteSeekers or ErieSeekers. I just dont see that being the case. -

Yea...thats physically impossible. I have rode it already. The cars dont swing forwards and backwards at all. And if they do, its not even possible for them to swing that much. The sideways swing is also minimal. -

Thanks guys! I think Im going to do a whole series on them. I am going to take shots from various angles around the park, look for something interesting. Who knows, maybe I can sneak onto the beach and go over by wicked twister and get the fireworks in the background (I call dibs!) But I think a really cool "Set" of this ride would be awesome. Youll be updated first as it happens. Hopefully its something unique. -

Considering the Star Flyers use chains to connect, you wont get the same effect. But they do have that cool star shape, and if all those bars are lit up, that would be rather cool. But the LED's on these rides are a light show even while its sitting still. Getting a good shot requires timing and luck. I think I might go all of Saturday for day and night shots. My new lens can see to the top of Dragster with not much problem. CANT WAIT. Hopefully Sat night I have a huge photo TR for everyone. Really hoping the weather is clear skies too! -

Yea, it was fun. Nothing crazy. I will say, I thought the arms on the cars were pushed out by a piston...but they swing freely. So its sorta uneasy as you rise 300ft and the wind pushes you around. That part is like "Oh...yea...this feels strange" But once you start moving its pretty sweet. Only problem is you spin rather fast but the thing is so large, the effect isnt as great. If ride and look to the people across from you, then you can see the world spinning around really fast. Other than that, its a really fun ride but I agree - the lighting package and now the subsequent photos you can achieve - simply awesome. -

It doesnt spin while falling, only while going up. But in general, yea, same thing. Someone mentioned what looked like a brake fin...not sure. Theres a channel that runs up the coaster that looks like it would be a brake but I remember yesterday it was a channel for a chain. The chain was in the channel sideways so it made a U shape at the bottom and the channel guided the it and kept it in place while the ride went up and down. I believe the chain is actually used to house wires and cables. Basically, a very large cable organizer. Especially since the cables need to extend all the way from the top to the bottom, when the vehicle is at the top, those cables need to be organized somehow or theyll bunch up. -

These were the most surprising photos Ive ever taken. A lot of photos when they turn out better than expected I will usually think "SWEET, got it!" But for these, I didnt know how it would turn out. Actually, I thought the colors would blend together like they do on most every other ride. But when I saw the block pattern, almost 8-bit Nintendo graphics, I was really blown away. I called my wife over who went with me to ride a few rides and made her check em out on the camera. Really unique what the ride does. -

Alright...heres all the photos from my Flickr in the highest rest that this site allows. I wanted to go 1600 on the long edge but I can only do 1280. Hopefully thats good enough! Theres a lot of detail even in the shadows here. The sign Coming down -
So...get ready for some weirdness. I know we've seen Windseeker at night via video camera, but have you seen WindSeeker via Still Image Time Lapse? What you're about to see is rather strange in the shapes it makes. I've time-lapsed almost anything that moves at Cedar Point and nothing has produced these sorts of patterns. Normally the types of patterns I get are smooth transitions from one color to another. Not this block pattern. I imagine its due to the sequencing of the lights and possibly them maybe being LED strips with no gradient changes. Its very strange but produces some of the coolest pictures. I fully expect people to rush out with their tripods and a bunch of these shots to show up if they haven't already. Now that I know what to expect, I have ideas what I want to do next time I am there. There's gotta be some better angles and shots out there. This was just my first time testing out my new Canon 100-400mm IS L lens at night and first time riding WindSeeker. Which, to make this a proper TR for this ride, is quite a good flat ride. My wife who is as brave as myself thought it looked boring but upon realizing the arms that attach to the cars swing freely based on the rotation speed, she was like huh, thats cool. About 150ft up she looks at me and says "Yea, I'm a little nervous now" hahahahaha. Its really fun. Nothing insane or uber exciting. Ill still take Skyhawk and Maxair style rides over this but if its a 15min wait, I'm riding it every single time. Great addition to the park and has one of the BEST lighting package on a ride I've seen. SCROLL DOWN - REMOVED FLICKR PICS - ALL PICS ARE BELOW If someone wants the highest resolution image, let me know, give me your email, I'll send you a copy. Full images are 3888x2592 and in RAW format so Ill need to export a copy.

Really starting to feel that its both Intamins and Cedar Points fault now that Windseeker has had such massive issues. CP just hasnt seemed to have any sense of urgency with their openings. BTW that light package is UH MAZING. I cannot wait to get this new lens I am buying tomorrow, new tripod and go up and take some wicked night time lapse shots. -
Photo TR: Disney Snob Does Cedar Point
Real replied to jenseib's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Disney is slightly more leniant but not exactly like "Take your camera on every ride!" Ive tried. I had to basically sneak one on to Primevil Whirl. I think not letting on a Merry Go Round is overkill but thats CP. Someone would end up doing something stupid. Great TR's. I like that you call yourself a Disney Snob. Reminds me of my parents (even though CP is where theyve always been). They are the Disney snobs in the family. Ive been fortunate to go there over 13 times because of their snobbness and 1 Disney Cruise. However, Disneys magic didnt really hit me till I went there with my fiance. Otherwise, too much of a thrill seeker. Great pictures. Definitely a photographers eye! -

Id say dont ride like a rag doll. Its easy to see whats coming up and to anticipate it. I just lean with the turns and I suffer little to no banging on my neck (6ft tall). Riding like a ragdoll is never advisable for a OTSR ride. Youre just asking for trouble. And if youre coming here, you probably know the rides better than most and know most if not all the track. Just anticipate, itll eliminate the majority of the contact with any rides OTSRs (minus the few that are just so bad...lol) -

CP is going to make quite a bit of money from me off those stupid 25c water cannons around STR...Im addicted to those things. But more so on cold days like opening day when I doused several dummies for riding it in the cold temps. Sounds like its starting to come together. Its just...very uncharacteristic to see so much trouble already still. (take TTD out of that mix..I always expect some downtime, either a few 15min break downs or some larger malfunction)
