  1. That's the banked turn after the first drop. Its turned sideways because that's how I shot it but I had to zoom in through all the beams. It caught my eye as I was walking the trail that leads back behind Magnum. I knew when you said you loved Arrows, that you'd love that photo. I try to take more "shaping" pictures now. They have a much more artistic quality to them!
  2. https://picasaweb.google.com/107203122441051099654 Magnum gallery is UP! Meanwhile, more Millennium Force, Corkscrew and more Gemini. I got a lot out of my short trip today. I'm also editing some photos from a few trips in 2006...lol. Hard to pick pictures though that don't look terrible next to new ones.
  3. Harper, check your inbox. Sifting and editing mostly Magnum photos. Once I got there, I just felt like Magnum was the one to shoot.
  4. I know. It makes me shed a man tear. I love my twice a year trips to GL to ride Dominator and X-Flight. Villain was rough but I enjoyed it as well. Big Dipper was always fun. I enjoyed that park. Dominator looked SO much better at that park than where it is now IMO. As you can see, the color scheme combined with the surrounding foliage - awesome. Going to CP today for pictures. Not sure how long Ill stay. Feeling nauseous but absolutely bored. Was supposed to go to a practice fire exam session but I have a feeling the way I feel inside, intense physical training wouldnt work out well. Today seems mild (I guess 88 is mild next to 102) and the skies are clear.
  5. Nice profile pic there cmaniac. Stickin with just track pictures eh? Just added IOA, HP and GL pics. Not a bunch, this isnt like "heres 50 pics of each park" simply because I only select the ones I feel are worth a darn to put up. Then on top of that, these are old. Some are 6 years old. Just goin through my old stuff, finding new ones to add to the gallery. Check em out here: https://picasaweb.google.com/107203122441051099654 Remember, within Picasa when you click on a picture, you can click the magnifying glass just upper-left of the photo to zoom in, then zoom in to actual size. grab the picture with left mouse and look around. Lots more detail in there.
  6. That picture has become my desktop and my Google.com background. I had a request for it as a background and man, it sure does look nice. Its inspired me to start looking for more angles like this around the park.
  7. Both are excellent choices. Both are large wooden coasters with plenty of track and room to modify the original layout for more airtime and/or overbanks, etc. Neither is a bad choice and both should be super large bonfires or given the IH treatment.
  8. Isnt the point of this TOO discuss such things? At least here at TPR there are people with knowledge of the amusement business and several around here are within the industry enough to give valid input that should be taken and listened to. The Zacspin thing is possible. However, extremely unlikely to the point its not worth talking about but here, lets drag it up one last time. Will it fit? Depends on model. CP never installs the smallest model of anything, doubt they'll quit that trend. They always opt for the highest RPH version (look at their flats). Im at CP about once a week (sure someone can speak to the room available better than I) but the space inside there...its pretty small. As mentioned, there's no room on the left side of Dragster but the right it blocked by Dragster hydraulic room as well as lockers for Dragster. Its ok to come up with something crazy but having some sort of evidence to make it a viable talking point is, or should be, common sense. Just like if I said "Hey, I think theyre going to build a 200ft dive machine with a 100ft underground tunnel" That should get shot down by someone with knowledge of CP's topography and the insane hurdles youd need to jump over just for that to work. Hence, its a pretty weak discussion. THAT was the point everyone was trying to make...apparently that was grossly missed. So yea, how about that rumored ride for 2013?
  9. Your obvious sarcasm to cover up your annoyance with our replies... it fails. No need to get all crazy because no one liked your idea. It happens. No need to respond like an upset teenager. You thought outside the box but not very logically or imo, with common sense.
  10. +1, +1 and +1. I can name off 2 rides they would not build around that would detract from the rides overall feel - Millennium Force and Dragster. Both of those rides have silhouettes that they would not alter in a significant way because theyve made their calling card in the last 10 years on those 2 rides. Its just the skyline and how it is. Im sure part of the planning of their rides is also "how does out skyline look...how can we make it look the best, from what angles, etc" because thats a big part of the experience for newcomers to the park. If your thoughts involve anything about something that would alter one of the key rides...dismiss it. At least for 10-20 years. Theres plenty of room. Proof is by looking at parks like GL and IB where they have shoehorned rides in. So, they are far from that and have plenty of options once you start moving stuff. Any other good rumor info?
  11. Thats what she said... Sorry, I had too.
  12. So...anything more plausible? Whatever goes in, it needs to take what Maverick has, forces, and combine it with what MF is known for, smoothness. I spend a lot of time around Mav and its either your absolute fave or you think its too violent. It has great ridership and in most days I'm there, the longest line with the most buzz. Personally, id love to see gci, tgg twister or just iron horse mean streak already. Which, I really hope is on their radar. But id prefer real wooden coaster that doesn't blow.
  13. Can we move onto speculation that has a higher probability than 0.00000%?? Thxkbi!
  14. Last 19 for a few weeks I bet. Unless I get up there to shoot some night stuff.
  15. I mean, Just because a ride is floorless, doesn't change any heartlining, and really allows for the same types of elements of any other b&m looper. if anything it allows for more cheap exploits suck as a water mist spraying through the track or a cool flame effect (Neither of those have been used but it would be really cool) or any other type of gimmick to pop through the tracks or even a saw blade that just barely passes under the chassis of the train. But that would really just be a front row exploit. I think the heartlining is actually slightly different. I believe the floored trains, the riders sit 6in lower or so. Im trying to remember the NoLimits calculations and they modeled the trains using blueprints. Im prett sure though you sit higher on Floorless. But its not by a whole lot. Also Robb... LOL
  16. Both are fun. I enjoy the feeling of my legs floating freely and the wind whipping through them. In most cases I can wear sandals and then I can really air out my feet LOL I think calling it a gimmic is a bit...douchy? Its a different experience and I dont think its meant for the front to feel like the back. You dont really need to SEE theres no floor to know its not there. For a lot of people in the general public, just knowing there is no floor removes a layer of security from their minds, increasing the fun/scare factor and for that, it serves its purpose. To be honest, I think I prefer the floorless simply because of the overall increased wind flow throughout the whole car. That and lets be REALLY honest here, the removal of the floor in both floorless and floorless dive machines could be one of the coolest ways to start your ride. Especially the dive machines.
  17. Not enough room for even a zacspin. Use Google Earth, there isnt much room. Unless you take out the flood lights but Id vote against that .TTD looks epic at night. A big part of its allure at night is the spotlighting done from all angles on that tower. Come to think of it, not even sure a Drop tower would fit comfortably.
  18. Forgot to add...if anyone wants one of these in a Background, I can get your resolution and make it into a sweet background with a ride logo (or not...let me know) and anything I use Ill gladly make something specific for your computers resolution. If you want ride slogans, your own text, let me know. Id be honored to know my stuff sits on someones desktop so dont be afraid to ask! PM me details. I work pretty quickly when Im home and I can turn around a product pretty fast. I wont do too much touch up to the actual photos. Maybe letterbox it, frame it, etc for whatever your resolution needs are.
  19. I think at least both are winter jobs. I would NOT want to repaint Intamin track. Getting inside all that box and tri track has got to be a nightmare. Im sure (hope) its sprayed on but yea... Its also interesting just how much detail this lens gets on the rails. Theres some interesting patterns and detail on the running rails. I spent some time looking at that for awhile. Probably why I didnt get these done. I think the last batch of photos is more corkscrew, Dragster and Mantis. Youll notice more and more panning pictures. Those are my favourite because ALL of the blur is camera created, I am NOT photoshopping blur into ANY of the panned pictures. I absolutely LOVE it when they turn out.
  20. Double post...but heres 42 of around 80ish photos. Other 40 I need to edit tomorrow. I need sleep. Its been an incredibly busy weekend. I had requests for other coasters (duh... I was getting there) and I included more "coaster porn" shots of track shaping. Again, this is all me being very new with this lens and its taking some time to learn its ins and outs. What it likes and doesnt like. Annnnnd Busted! LOL
  21. Thats irrational fear. Making a decision like that based on incorrect information at the fact that they already seemed scared or worried to begin with.
  22. Yea. He could have went skydiving solo with no arms...would have been a similar ending. No way for the safety measures to be used when the vital parts of your body needed for it to work right aren't there. Never gave the suicide thing a thought, very interesting. I definitely hope the ride itself is cleared of the mess. You know how there will be 1 or 2 whack jobs in some political position who will try to justify their irrational fear by saying this proves roller coasters are unsafe.
  23. Im trying to appease myself and my wife... LOL She loves coasters like me but tend to stick with the more "fun" ones. I am a fan of all of them. I think the real choice is between KD and BGE. Insane coaster with a few good others against beautiful park, good operations and good, solid rides. It would be a Sunday and I saw elsewhere Robb you mentioned BGE has superior operations. My wife hates lines. So, that might also push us in that direction. Thanks for the input. Ill keep plastering Cedar Point pictures on here till I get to go somewhere else.
  24. Oh snap! I never noticed that! Because Im basically the spelling police in my head, I saw that right away. Just figured someone beat me to it, glad I kept reading. Great finish up on the TR. I should have went outside the ropes for Ravine Flyer 2 pics. I have some nice ones inside the park but man, I never saw those chances outside the park.
  25. Well, drive, get good nights sleep, then do park. Then sleep all night, leave in mid morning. Not terrible but definitely not close. I take that risk. Driving doesnt phase me much yet plus my wife and I usually split driving so each gets downtime. Holiday World is pretty up and down too thats why I say its the closest from what I can tell. Not a bunch of coasters but whats there is really good and atmospheres seem similar. Its a ways away, thinking labor day, so I have time to think this through.
