  1. While the Japanese have so far shown calmness and haven't shown many signs of panic yet, this is still a catistrophic natural disaster. While they have prepared for something like this to occur and given how much more advanced they are, there's only so much you can do. While I have never been in a major earthquake, I do know that some of the land that the tsunami washed over will probably remain underwater based on liquifaction (land becoming so saturated that it turns into water). To throw on all that's going on is the possibility of another Chernobyl occuring. This could've been MUCH worse if it hit at Tokyo, but it's still something important to follow in my opinion.
  2. Oh ok. Understood. Well, I don't know about compensation because they are giving my site hits in the end, but at this point I'll think about it. I really don't want to be asking for more than what it's worth.
  3. True, but both Intimidators were talked about more before they were announced than what's being speculated now. Besides, then it shows that this marketing game is doing what it's supposed to do: get people talking.
  4. Sorry, but I disagree with you on several different things. As someone who has followed what went on with Nantimi, I find it to be a unique way of advertising a new attraction and it gets people talking about it. I shared your opinion on this back when this was going on, but once it ended, it made me warm up to it. As for my website, I really don't care if HE&R is using me or the website and to be awnest I really don't consider us to be "insiders". Now if you mean that several of the members work at the park, then yes, we do have a few "insiders". It comes down to this, whenever you post something talking about a place or location, you are automatically giving a place free-marketing. It is unavoidable and I really don't see the reason why you're so against it. Same thing with the site hits. I created the site because I enjoy what I do and for a hobby. For me, It doesn't even matter to me if I get 5 hits or 5,000 hits in a day. And when you say that it doesn't add up, even when this game is over the site may lose a few members who only stayed around for the game, but we will likely gain a couple of long-time members. As far as posting here, like I said, I manage my site as a hobby and I am not competing with anyone. I just post and let people decide what they think is happening and if it makes sense (example RIT).
  5. Interesting thing happened today. Early this afternoon I recieved a message in my inbox from someone at the Ride Institute (Tammy) asking if someone from Keystone Thrills would be interested in doing an interview with them. Matt (HPCrazy) and someone else from the site have recieved the same message. I replied back to Tammy and said that I'd be interested and I gave her the times that I'd be available. Supposedly not too long later (or while I was writing the message) I recieved another message saying that Dr. Andersson (who I was supposedly going to interview) replied back and said that she had to unexpectently had to leave the states and had to cancel. Here's where it gets fun. She left a .pdf file in the message leading to this: Ahhh, brings back fond memories. lol As you can see, there is a hidden code in the letter and when together, it spells: /comDec.html Looks like the end of a web address, doesn't it? Could it be another page to the RIT's website? Well, I typed in the address with the code above and it took me to the following page: http://www.rideinstitute.com/comDec.html The page title has 11 slashes and 1 star (just like the griffin logo), and there's a password box. If you look at the random letters and numbers at the bottom of the page I took a guess and figured it was the password. Once entered, it took me to a new .pdf file page. The following is something new that I don't remember seeing before in the Nantimi game: the use of a foreign language to hide clues and details. With a little help from Google Translate I've managed to have decode the mesasge mostly. Here's what it says: Sounds like online marketing will start next month and it will build until the official announcement in August later this season. It also looks like the name Project X has now been thrown into the mix along with a new name: AFW (which has a picture of a globe as a watermark on the page and for some reason it's not showing up too well). ------ On the visual side of things, some black, plastic drainage pipes have shown up inside Creekside Catering (Me and a friend of mine decided to stop at CW for something to eat since we were in the area). The new gate was open and there was someone staffed inside the ticket booth next to it.
  6. It's March and it is now time for March Sweetness: http://www.hersheypark.com/march_sweetness/index.php http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8jJ403QpTo It's March, which means that it's time for March Sweetness at hersheypark. It's a basketball competition betweeen the park's product characters and a contest rolled into one. Last year's winner was The Hershey Kiss. What will it be this year? Also they are running a special on admission tickets: Recieve $20 off when you purchase a general admission ticket between March 1st to March 6th. $18 off March 7 to March 13, $16 off March 14 to March 20, and $14 off March 21 to March 31. My money is on the Reese's.
  7. Wait for it..... No straps. The trains look great! I really don't think that what type of restraints the manufacturer decides to use would ruin the ride. Intimidator 305 is a perfect example with this. I do like the front nose of the train and how artisitic it looks.
  8. I was just thinking the EXACT same thing! I'm looking at it this way. Cedar Fair will probably take what they can out of the park in a grab with the removal of the relocateable rides, sell the park over to the 49ers while closing it before or just after they do this. Next the 49ers will either find a major park operator and cut out a portion of the park for a parking lot or remove everything and pave a parking lot over it. GCA fanboys at the fansites would probably be filled with rage against Cedar Fair saying Kinzel is the most evil person next to the devil, the boards turn into a site to constantly reflect on the park and refuse to move on, two from there then start to "plan" to save Grizzly since "It's the best coaster in the world!" without knowing how to do this. They are proven to be frauds, and will make thier fansite look bad, etc.
  9. According to a comment on their facebook page, they said it won't be ready for opening day, but it will open not long after that. I am really liking how detailed they are getting with this coaster. Can't wait to see more.
  10. From News Plus Notes: The train for Invertigo has arrived.
  11. It's great to see El Toro take first and say that I've rode the best wooden coaster. I doubt any of my top steel coasters will make it into the top 10 though. EDIT: Big Dipper at GL is at 76, is THAT worth saving? lol
  12. Yes! Count me in! I am very happy to actually say this for a TPR event since I was never able to do one in the past.
  13. LOL! Yeah the comments were interesting. My favorites were the ones where the posters tried to turn it into a political issue and assume that the park went to the newspaper to do the article. It was really interesting how much they shut up when I told them what really happened.
  14. New article posted: http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/02/3_men_try_to_solve_riddle_of_h/3032/comments-2.html
  15. http://www.mcall.com/news/local/parkland/mc-dorney-park-planning-oks-20110218,0,2411061.story . Looks like Invertigo is coming to Dorney for 2012 I guess.
  16. Given their current building trend, I wouldn't expect it to be until 2016 unless something changes. The Lo-Q idea interests me because for certain attractions already built, it would be easy to add a second queue line while for others, it would be a challenge.
  17. UPDATE: Another update. I'm slowly re-doing the supports for Great Bear using the Steel Jungle set and getting rid of the Steelworx ones. Comet Hollow has progressed quite a bit since the last update. I've added some lateral supports to Comet, built some of the game stalls and SDL Sandwich Shop. I'm in the process of adding Looper's station (only have the elevator built), as well as updating some of the park for the 2011 season. This includes the removal of 1 of the catering buildings in Rhineland. I still have a lot of work to go before I can call this park finished. Shot0156.bmp Except for a few buildings here and there, Comet Hollow is just about done. Shot0157.bmp Shot0158.bmp Looper's entrance needs a roof... as well as a station. Shot0159.bmp Lateral Supports have been added to Comet as well as that random building next to it's lift hill. Shot0160.bmp I guess I should change this a little. Shot0161.bmp Minetown is probably the most un-developed area at this point, but that's going to change soon. Shot0162.bmp If RCT's trees were bigger, then this area would be perfect. More soon.
  18. Thanks for the nice words...I haven't felt such praise since I got a score of 114 bumper bowling in 7th grade... I've since had three IP addresses banned from that site just for posting that. That is why there is no follow up... Wes mentioned earlier that the best way to respond to a troll is with no response. I agree with that completely. I also think it shows their true colors by banning me instead of opening up a productive dialogue. Chris "likes turtles" Connolly They banned you for just that? It's interesting that they're accusing of Robb of doing that, yet they have no problem doing it themselves. Chroniq, I found your post to be tactful over there; you wern't attacking anyone, you weren't mean or breaking any rules or anything. You just wanted to know why everyone hated Robb. I became a member to this site a year or two ago and thought about posting there more, but if they're going to be bias about what people believe on their site, then I'm not going to bother with them. Makes me wonder which site is worse? This site or GLT?
  19. Got a new construction update: http://keystonethrills.webs.com/attraction2012updates.htm On a side note, Part of the parking lot for Chocolate World is going to be covered with solar panels from what it looks like.
  20. ^sjsharkattack, spelling and grammar is driving me crazy. I could see them either getting a Windseeker, but then again there's one down at Knott's. I could see them either getting a major flat ride or a medium-sized coaster.
  21. When Hersheypark built their wave pool, they needed to reconfigure one or two of Roller Soaker's supports for the wave machine building to fit. I think it may be rare on a steel coaster, but if the track sections show cracking or fatigue I guess it can happen.
  22. Keystone Thrills member, HPCrazy visited the park today and noticed that 2 out of the three catering areas have been demolished. It looks like work has begun. Here's a link to the photo update on the 2012 Update Page: http://keystonethrills.webs.com/attraction2012updates.htm
  23. For those who are wondering where it's going to be built, here's a view of it on Google Streetview: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Fuji+Q+Highland&sll=35.029996,139.21875&sspn=15.768233,59.853516&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Fuji-Q+Highland&ll=35.485521,138.779436&spn=0,0.003653&t=h&z=19&layer=c&cbll=35.485698,138.779305&panoid=mPydKBvuLZA_hNW0uPjipA&cbp=12,66.53,,0,3.74
  24. As long as it doesn't run only one car, I guess it could take care of the lines. But I'm sure Fuji-Q would figure out something to make it worse. Gotta live up to that tradition of 4 hour lines!
  25. I travelled here almost a month ago and thought that it was a pretty cool experience. It made me realize that sometimes leaving a park the way it is after it closes sometimes can preserve the place (having owners who care about the place helps). I was amazed at how well preserved the place was. Here's a link to some photos I took of the park as well as of the collection of goodies I found in the bowling alley's bar: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=57841&p=980764#p980514
