They got it at such a good price they couldn't pass it up. They figured if it wouldn't fit then they would definitely make money on re-sale. -
TPR's Monday Fun Emails
Hercules replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I picked hate them, though I don't honestly hate them. I do get TPR emails, but it really isn't a priority for me to open them every day, so I didn't even know that there were fun emails going out. -
Why don't all these people fight for something that is actually a problem? I'm never a fan of this argument. It is based on opinion what a problem is. I'll list a few problems off of the top of my head: Lack of fair wages for women The raping of women in African nations Child sexual abuse Poverty in the United States Killing of dogs and cats and other animals via gas chambers and heart sticks in shelters Ok, so there are 5 things that are probably agreed upon to be legitimate problems in the world (at least 3- 4 of them depending on your views). I may be an animal activist, but here are other things I also do with my time: Advocate for fair working wages for all genders Donate to organizations committed to ending rape in African nations Donate to the Salvation Army, Red Cross and Toys for Tots Started a non-profit animal rescue, ended gas chamber usage in 3 rural shelters, and speak out against the use of gas chambers and other forms of euthanasia through out the United States (some people don't consider this animal activism because these are domesticated animals) I am in the process of starting a non-profit organization to help provide money to men for therapy who were sexually abused as a child. I'm also going to be working with a local amusement park to have a day for these men to go and have fun and enjoy a day like a child, like they may not have been able to do during their childhood. As a victim of child sexual abuse from the time I was 3-12, and psychological abuse until about 17, this is a case dear to my heart. So, although animal rights are very dear to me as well, it is not the only thing that I give all of my time to. And YES I do consider the inhumane treatment of animals a PROBLEM. I'm sorry if that offends anyone, or if they think I am wasting my time. Not all animal activists "waste" their time on this problem 100% of the time. I believe a lot are like me and care about many causes, and don't just sit on their asses and actually do something (I'm not hyping myself up or saying I am more moral or holy than anyone else by making that comment, I'm just bothered by people that sit around and do nothing for the world other than fill airspace with their complaints and don't do anything about what they are complaining about).

There are movements and campaigns against zoos and circus performers and everything else you had mentioned, not just against SeaWorld. And the director of the film is already on record as saying that she had no real intention of making the film pro x or x in either way and she does not side with either side. I guess where I am coming from on this is (not to get political at all but this is just an observation) but it just seems to be a Democrat vs. Republican type of argument. One side is calling another side idiots, while the other side is calling the other side idiots, each without really rationally and, in an education fashion, explaining their side of things and, in turn, listening to the frustrations of the other side. Or better yet, it is kind of like the latest Duck Dynasty saga with the guy making gay and racial remarks, where his supporters claim freedom of speech, where, if it were a gay person or a civil rights leader making a statement of some sort those same people would be telling that person to shut up (contradicting their so-called stance on freedom of speech). I just think that people are unfairly clumping and generalizing people on both sides of the argument. Personally, I am against holding animals in captivity for purposes of entertainment. I can have fun without going to see animals perform. And before someone jumps on me, yes, I went to Marine World (for the kids out there, the name of the park before it became Six Flags Discovery Kingdom) when I was 7, and went to a SeaWorld park at the age of 12, so I have been to a park. I am an advocate for sanctuaries, and rehabilitating animals in need. And I do give credit to Busch/SeaWorld for the work they do to help animals and the money they have provided over the years. However, I am against keeping orcas and dolphins in captivity for the entertainment purposes they provide. I am not ignorant enough to say that they should all just be thrown into the ocean because that is where they belong. I'm educated enough on the topic to know that they wouldn't have much of a chance of acclimating to their new, vast environment because they have spent all or most of their lives in captivity. I do firmly believe in the off shore sanctuary. However, I do realize that there are some ignorant radical types that would probably be keen on cutting a new of some sort (which is where I have come up with a concept for a large reinforce retaining wall). I do seriously believe that the trainers, and many other staff do really care for the animals they care for at the parks. I do not think they are stupid for thinking they are doing a good thing there. They love the animals. But I am also not blind to know that the executives of the parks do run these parks as businesses, and they are not charities. Their main attractions are these animals. And since they are blocked from a lot of shores in order to capture the animals to bring in to captivity, they breed (which is something else I am not a huge advocate of). I don't consider it conservation when, let's face it, the main reason they are breeding the animals is to keep their parks alive and operational, and making money. So, with that said, I won't pay to get in to a park (I will say that I am going to SeaWorld San Diego in September for a networking event, where I will not be attending any of the shows - I will do my business and leave), but I also will not defame someone who does choose to go in to a park. It is their choice. I respect people's opinions. When I start to lose respect for people, which is happening more and more every day for me on the side of the pro-SeaWorld people and the whatever you would like to call them's, is when name calling starts and there is no middle ground sought by either side.

The footprint of the ride didn't fit in any of the open areas of the park. They had an idea that this was the case when they bought the ride, but after they surveyed the property, they realized it was the case, and they had disassembled the ride so well they knew they were going to be able to make a profit on the ride when sold. -

^ It depends on the experience you have. They can be very inconsistent from my experiences. Sometimes I love the crab fries, and sometimes I don't (I like the ones I make from home a lot better). And sometimes you don't even want to see the burgers that come out of the kitchen at some locations (not that I think they are appetizing in the first place, but sometimes they even make my meat eating friends want to barf). -

No trouble. I had lunch with someone today close to the situation, and there aren't any worries. The announcement will come. -
Thanks to everyone for your congrats, but I certainly appreciate this from Larry the most. Thanks Larry!!! ^ I'll probably go a little more traditional. Write up something about how I love her and stuff, have her find the box in the tree, and get on one knee or something (and then have my dog come over and start licking my face and humping my leg to bust in and ruin the romance of the moment, but that is just how it is around here). We honestly never really considered marriage seriously up until a couple of years ago. And I wanted to wait until she finally decided what she wanted to do with her work life. She is going to be graduating law school this year, and I'm pretty sure (pretty sure) she won't be going back for any kind of schooling any time soon, so I think this should work out pretty well.

But since they are rumored to add more hotel rooms, more rides to both theme parks, and a third theme park, They could provide even higher competition to Disney. The difference is that they don't have nearly the expansion ability due to land, and they won't be able to offer the complete family friendly atmosphere that Disney does.

So some of you have known me for a while. Some have not. Some care. Some really don't. I'm writing this anyway. After 12 lovely years, and ups and downs in our relationship, I am finally going to ask my lovely girlfriend to marry me. It has been a while, and we are already pretty much married anyway - we have owned a home for 5 years this past November and everything and the whole bit. She loves Christmas and there really isn't a better time to ask her than during the holiday season. I'm going to write something nice up hide the ring in the tree for her to find and dig out. I got a great deal on a very nice ring, and I'm really happy with it. I'm just hoping she will like it. This got me thinking, how did all of the lucky married people around here propose?
-
Exactly. Disney does things to enhance the experience and draw more money out of people's pockets. Universal has to do things to attract people just to get some kind of money out of their pockets. I doubt Disney is worried about the mine coaster deal. Nobody is going to cancel their trip to Disney because it isn't built.

^ I think they will. The PBR circuit has a pretty loyal following.
