  1. ^KI's Eifel Tower (a 1/3 scale replica) is 315' tall, very close to the previously hinted "308" hint. Very eager to see what type of track shows up there.
  2. Zach, I'm a huge fan of these models! Amazing work! This seemed to be the place to ask these questions as the experts frequent this thread: 1) I have just started collecting Statix trains after a trip to Cedar Point. I picked up a Gatekeeper, Maverick, Dragster, and MF train. Did they ever make one for Raptor? If so, will they ever be available again? It seems the inverted trains are extremely popular and sell out fast. 2) Did CD ever make replicas for Leviathan? Have you ever made a flying coaster train? 3) If there is a CD staff on here: How can I get a Griffon train without going to Virginia again? Could I order one if I called CD directly? 4) As I said before, I was at Cedar Point, I heard a working Gatekeeper model may be coming out, but did not see one at the park. Is this still in development? Could you show us some sneak preview pics or juicy details? 5)Can I get different colored track besides red? Is there a way to special order some? 6) Have any of you made a working B&M Wingrider yet? Just wanted to compliment Coaster Dyanmix for highly detailed, fair priced replicas of our favorite coasters. The Gatekeeper and Maverick ones are especially gorgeous!
  3. Wow, this coaster seems to have it "all in the right places". Love the mix of inversions and airtime hills. This coaster is going to be VERY long!
  4. ^ Curse of Darkastle's line can get busy at times. Especially when it is hot outside people will seek refuge in the air conditioned castle. I personally love the food at the German pavilion/beer garden area with the band/dancing. Have a great time, and ride my favorite coaster in the world for me! (Griffon) TO LOCALS! I have somewhat of an odd request: I collect Coaster Dyanmix roller coaster trains and on my trip last year, neglected to pick up a Griffon train. Do they still sell Statix models at the park? I know at one point Alpengeist, Apollo, and Griffon had model replicas, and they even sold a working Griffon kit at one point. Do the gift shops still stock Griffon trains? I believe the Alpengeist trains are extremely hard to find. (For some reason the parks that carry these types of models always sell out of the inverted trains first, I can never find Raptor or Alpengeist) I wonder if Busch Gardens would send me a Griffon train if I called and spoke with someone from merchandise. (They don't have them on the online store) Or if someone could send one up to RI for me, I would pay of course. Any help would be appreciated!
  5. After recently riding both Mummy coasters I still stand by my choice of Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy at DLR, just something really cool about it! The music, the projections, it all works so well together for an otherwise rather tame indoor coaster.
  6. Nitro was topped off in April, I would imagine it is completely assembled or close to it by now. I would say this track is 99% not for Nitro in India (B&M Floorless) but rather for a new project. I won't believe this track is for KI until I see it showing up on their property. I still have my fingers crossed for a B&M Diving Machine. With so many 2014 coasters yet to be announced, this track could really be for any client around the world. They are a very busy steel plant!
  7. Judging by the shape of the track it could be a Miler,Schiff, or Molina kiddie coaster, the layout looks familiar. I would say this is an older Miler kiddie coaster (modern Milers have a flat type track. If this is someone's backyard project, that is pretty cool. Interesting post/topic.
  8. ^ I bought one of each of the statix models on my visit, was surprised to see a Gatekeeper train so I grabbed it, one for Maverick (bronze) Dragster (Red) and MF (yellow). DId they ever make one for Raptor?
  9. Photo Trip Report 6/17/13-6/21/13 Cedar Point, Sandusky, OH Just got back from an amazing three days at The Point. Jessica and I arrived Monday evening around 4 pm, after a 12 hour drive from Massachusetts. We checked into our room at the quaint Maples Motel in Sandusky, and took advantage of Starlight Admission for only $35.00. For our last day, we decided to get fastlane plus, and I highly recommend it if you want to see it all in one day. It is not yet the peak of the season but the park was quite crowded! Gatekeeper-6x (average wait time 30m-1h) This ride is pure eye candy, both off and on the ride. I noticed a lot of people "dogging" on the new wingrider, including CP employees. Do not expect a very intense coaster, but it is a lot of fun and it actually exceeded my expectations. Front row for best visuals, back row for bit more of an intense ride and two moments of gentle negative g's. My favorite memory from Gatekeeper was looking at the moon, upside down from the diving loop, perfect moment. Maverick-4x (average wait time 1h30m) Maverick was the only other coaster new to me and it was the surprise of the trip. It was intense, fast, and made some insane transitions. The tunnel was my favorite part! Millennium Force-2x (average wait time 1h) Top Thrill Dragster-2x (average wait time 1h30m) Wicked Twister-1x (average wait time 30m) Gemini-1x no wait Magnum XL-200-1x (average wait time 45m)-She's still got the stuff! Magnum for life! Iron Dragon-1x no wait Blue Streak-1x no wait Raptor-4x (average wait time 1h) Mantis-1x (average wait time 20m) Maxair-2x (average wait time 30m) Windseeker-2x(average wait time 15m)My first time on a Mondial Windseeker and I absolutely loved it! I also like the messages people leave in the sand on the beach 300 feet below: "Hello up there!" Troika-1x (I love all things Huss!) Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad-This and the skyride came in handy for getting around, I love the Boneville scenes! Skyride-Became our friend pretty quickly, awesome views, helps for getting around the park Power Tower-(Shot Tower)x1 (average wait time 20m) Skyhawk-The ride was down but they were testing one of the two arms Overall a great time at my favorite place, with my favorite person! 700 miles to Sandusky! Time to get excited! These Boneville scenes are great! Cedar Creek Mine Ride Rumor has it a new dark ride will occupy this building in 2014 Another view of the Coliseum Corkscrew CP Skyline at Twilight Hopping on the Judy K, shortcut to Maverick Fastlane+ was well worth it! Ferris Wheel Gatekeeper is great! My first wingrider, loved it. Sitting in the backseat gives you a slight floating sensation. Gatekeeper at sundown Gatekeeper's camelback Giant Flat Spin Keyhole x2 Gatekeeper has taken over the main entry plaza, everyone just stops to watch it perform Aerial view of B&M's fine new machine This is a great inversion, and it's taken quite fast Over the camelback at sunset The first drop gets things exciting quick I love the glowing eyes and LED lights on the sides of the train, but many of them aren't working already. :/ We rode the skyride at least 6 times in 3 days Mantis , yeah... Maverick is my new fave at CP! Twisted Horseshoe Roll CRAZY airtime! Here too! Go baby go! I'm a big HUSS fan Millennium Force Power Tower Raptor Raptor-Jess loved it! Always been my favorite B&M Invert Raptor We love the new entrance! Getting ready for Maverick at The Red Garter 10,000 horsepower launch Top Thrill Dragster Top Thrill Dragster Wicked Twister We heart Windseeker!!! Especially at night Beautiful! We ended our last night with Luminosity, thanks for checking out the photos!
  10. Very ambitious project! I wish you luck, the paint looks great! (I also have a train table in my basement covered in themed park models) Getting the carriage to spin will be easy, getting the carriage to raise and lower will prove difficult! Be sure to start a thread in the model forum, there are a lot of smart tinkerers there that can give you great advice when you run into trouble. Can't wait to see more!
  11. Any word on Skyhawk? I believe CP was waiting for a part(s) I love Screamin' Swings, I'm hoping it's up and running on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday next week, I'll be there all three days.
  12. ^ I would think the only reason for them being on the side versus between the legs is so the ops could check them quickly without getting a handful of junk. I'm very much looking forward to Wicked Twister on Monday night. I don't think you guys are in the minority at all, WT is gettin' some love! My girlfriend is most excited about Twister than any other ride in the park, she has never been so doesn't yet know the awesomeness of Millennium Force.
  13. More like "Field of SCREAMS" (Banshee screams ) SO many interesting rumors and tidbits, this is the fun part, well... so is when the ride is running too.
  14. This is definitely interesting news! It would be cool if it were a steel coaster that followed the same layout of the original.
  15. As a direct result of this thread, I was able to finalize my plans with Jessica for our three days in the park. Will be staying at the Maples Motel and FastPass Plus on Wednesday is all paid for and printed. Thank you TPR, for the great advice! I'll be doing the Starlight entry Monday the 17th, a full day Tuesday the 18th, and FP+ on Wednesday, driving home on Thursday. I am reading these reviews of Gatekeeper and I'm still as excited as I was for it the day I saw the concept art. I suppose I'm a rare breed, but I much prefer a ride with stunning visuals and the sensation of flying versus raw, intense elements. With some of my favorite coasters being Tatsu and Griffon I expect this one will be just what I look for in a coaster!
  16. Thank you, I checked it out, it looks like about what we are looking for! I decided to go for Fastlane Plus on the 17th, guarantees an awesome day at the point.
  17. I'm going to ark on the 18th and 19th of this month. I haven't been in some time, could someone tell me which (if any) rides have a single rider line? I'll be going with my girlfriend but we don't mind splitting up for a few minutes instead of waiting an hour or so... Also, could anyone recommend a good (clean!) hotel that is reasonable and closeby? Due to recent car repairs I'm going on a budget and fastlane may not be an option for me. I can imagine for two people it is very expensive for fastlane plus.
  18. My favorite ride of all time is Griffon, because big drops are my favorite part of any coaster. I don't see why B&M wouldn't build a 308' Dive Machine. Griffon is 205' tall and both drops pack a punch. I'd imagine if 2014 is in the Giga category the first inversion would be massive for a smooth transition. I do agree that the standard dive machine formula of drop, immelman x2 can be repetive, but I'm hoping their next diver features a new element in place of the watersplash (that Diamondback already has) I always feel like Griffon hits that water with a lot of speed, imagine what you could do with another 1,000 feet of track at ~45 mph...
  19. I also believe those green supports and wingrider track are for Heide Park. The concept art showed a bat/gargoyle creature and implied a flying coaster, but now it is confirmed Heide is getting a wingrider similar to Raptor at Gardaland and I would imagine equally impressive theming. I still believe KI will not get a wing coaster in 2014 due to Matt confirming Cedar Fair has not ordered any for 2014. The hints the park dropped and the B&M type footings make me stick to my guns that this will be the world's largest diving machine. It makes sense that Heide's track, destined for Germany would come out of the plant first. The comment about KI wanting to keep people away from CP doesn't make sense to me. Cedar Fair wants you to buy a season pass and visit their other properties , it's just good business. This is also the reason I believe they will mix it up a bit with a coaster design never before done by CF.
  20. Since my last update there have been many additions to Coasterville! I will name a few here... -Arabian Nights theme released including all new shops, flat rides and landmark. Soon there will be a new customizable coaster released, I have included a picture below. -Runaway Mine Car coaster, this 5 step build reminds us of Disney's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad -Kraken's Revenge, the Kraken is now available in a new green colour -New customizable track segments for Dynamite Run, Windstorm, Comet, and Dragon coasters including corkscrews and moebius loops! -The Beach theme is coming soon, some pieces including the aquarium and kite shop are already released. The highlight attraction of the beach theme will be the Whiplash coaster, looks much like a B&M Inverted coaster! 1001Nights.bmp This new desert themed coaster will be released very soon, start clearing up some land in your desert!
  21. So there are dark green B&M supports at Claremont? Flying over the Rainforest's supports are tan/brown in color, correct? As far as I know this would be a new project. Has anyone else seen interesting pieces over there?
  22. I don't think it's a stupid question: My take on it is that when parks build large roller coasters, in this case one up to or higher than 300 feet tall, their intention is for riders to experience a sense of speed and the dropping sensation. For a 300 foot tall looping roller coaster, the inversions would have to be quite large and take away from the sense of speed or change the pace of the ride from what they are trying to offer. Personally, I prefer a ride with large drops versus rides with more inversions. It's ideal for me when a ride has a nice combination of long drops and large inversions, that's why why Griffon is my favorite.
  23. According to the twitter teasers they mention "diving", so giga coaster? Maybe a DIVING giga coaster... But I wouldn't expect a repeat of the Behemoth/Leviathan routine, that would just be bizarre for 2 parks in the same chain to both have 2 coasters from the same page of B&M's catalog. Outside of Busch parks, there has not been any dive machine activity in the US. It's definitely time for a new diver, and if the 308 clue indicates height, that would be a monster first drop. This area seems very large for a dive coaster, however, if it's going to be a gigacoaster we are likely to see more than the typical "square" blueprint like Griffon and SheiKra and hopefully an element to make it unique in all the world. Knowing Cedar Fair, and their brilliant marketing of coasters with unique elements, I am wishing that this coaster features a "keyhole" tunnel of sorts. I always thought "Banshee" would be a great name for a dive coaster. When I first heard these rumors I had to laugh because I have a little Banshee dive machine in my basement that is yet to be completed. http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58951&hilit=banshee Now if this coaster ends up being purple and black that would just be weird. Before I ran into friction issues with my model, I was already sketching up ideas for a station themed to an abandoned, decrepit church. The Banshee would lift riders a scale 200' , plummet down two 89 degree drops , the second of which would plunge through a small hole on top of a scale "catacombs" where a laser sensor would detect the train and play a loud shrieking noise as the Banshee "collected souls". The project was ambitious and fun, but still sits half completed. I suddenly feel like getting back into the basement and getting the project going again. With Griffon being my current favorite coaster of the 300 I have been on, this could very well be my dream coaster in the making. Looking forward to the inevitable press release! They won't be able to keep this puppy in the pen much longer...
  24. I have a feeling this will be a dive machine, would round off an already excellent collection of B&Ms in Ohio.
