Robb Alvey's 30 Pounds in 30 Days - 2008!
spacemtfan replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
Robb, I think it's great that you're trying to lose weight. Though I thought the Wii Fit went a little overboard calling you 'obese'. I mean you're pretty big, but you're not obese! THIS is obese: Thank God, you're nothing like that. Best of luck to you Robb! Can't wait to see some progress! ---spacemtfan -
Manta Track Spotting Photoshop Contest!
spacemtfan replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Tickets to SeaWorld Orlando?!? I know I'm entering. Here's my picture. Manta track found in the place where people would least expect it... NOTE: If no other Manta pictures are posted after this one before the deadline, this will be my official entry. Taken before Hard Rock Park filed for Chapter 11 backruptcy. Maybe they should have kept it. But then again, one park's trash is another.park's treasure. -
Yo, check this out! http://coastertalk.net/forum/index.php?topic=138 Apparently, it was annouced that Six Flags Mexico would be receiving the Dark Knight coaster possibly in 2009. Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA was offered a Dark Knight clone, but the park president turned it down. What do you guys think of that?

Theme Park Review's 2009 Trips Announced!

Question: I keep hearing about Q-Bots in other trip reports. What are those and will we use them on any of the trips? -
Ronald Reagan? The actor?! And who's vice president, Jerry Lewis?! <-------- Also of note. Yeah, you wish it was Jerry Lewis. His Vice President was George H.W. Bush, father of...George W. Bush (you know, the guy who stole Florida) in 2000). I totally forgot about the opening of Epcot! And the Disney-MGM Studios opened eight year later! Have to add that to my powerpoint presentation, for sure. ---space "came back from a school rally that sucked" mtfan.

From Wes: Point well taken, Wes! Well, after I did a tribute thread for the 1990's, I figured it would only be fair if I went a decade back and did a tribute thread for the 1980's. The 1980's...The time when Ronald Reagan became president, MTV came on for the first time, Princess Diana marries Prince Charles, and Michael Jackson was becoming a big pop star with "Thriller". Now, of course, being born in 1991, I wouldn't remember ANY of that stuff, but now that I have been assigned to research the 1980's for my Advanced Computer class for school, it's kind of fun looking back at the years I never saw. So...what do you remember from the 1980's? What was cool back then (movies, theme parks, hairstyles, music, etc) that is no longer cool now (unfortunately)?

AND THEN THERE WERE NONE - THE GAME IS OVER

No offense to the two, but I vote to kill Wes. Do it! DO IT! -

Theme Park Review's 2009 Trips Announced!

I have a quick question... My job (as a student tutor for Geometry students) is high-paying ($12 a hour), but I only get the money if someone sets up an appointment with me (which, so far, no one has). I'm sure I'll have the money by the end of the second week of January (when the school semester finals begin and failing geometry students want to study at the last minute). I know there really isn't a deadline for the initial deposit, but what if by the end of January, I turn in the initial deposit and then I pay the second payment for the Texas trip the next day? -
An evergreen to top off a roller coaster? That's something never seen before. Manta looks really nice! It's too bad San Diego won't be getting one! This looks like a cool ride. And since it has double stations, you know it's going to be a high-capacity machine. Great pictures Robb! Keep them coming!

Exactly! THISis a really good thread to read if you haven't already about making choices that will help you afford the trips. --Robb Wow...that's going to be hard for me to do, since my family REALLY enjoys doing all of those things. Good news is...I got a job tutoring kids on Geometry. It pays $12 an hour! Add that to stuff I sell on eBay and I might be able to go to Texas after all. -

^ I might be able to go on the Texas trip. But parents' permission and money is going to be a problem. I hope I can go to meet with all of the TPR members. -

^ Usually late August isn't blocked out for Disneyland. Weekends should be free. But, I haven't been an AP holder for Disneyland for a year, so it might have changed.
