  1. The park could stand a good coaster for the 36"-42" tall crowd. My daughter is fearless and would ride everything if she could, but unfortunately, she's only 3 not quite 42" yet.
  2. Wasn't Roto Disco in that theater building right outside of Judge Roy's entrance tunnel? For some reason I have memories of the railroad crossing by Gotham City being a bridge with the walking path crossing underneath it. I'm not sure if I'm correct with this or not, though.
  3. The Pirate Ride and Earthquake: 2 Cedar Point classics that should never have been removed. The Pirate Ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpsR3Dkrr9M
  4. Manhattan Express at the New York New York Casino in Vegas. I had seen Rob's POV long before I rode it, but I still had to experience it for myself. It's the only Togo I've ever ridden to date. What a miserable ride. From the bottom of the first drop until it hit the brake run, the ride was nothing but a headache inducing nightmare. Never again.
  5. Disaster Transport (that was just closed last year to make way for GateKeeper) WAS the Avalanche Run bobsled ride. They just enclosed Avalanche Run, re-themed it and turned it into Disaster Transport. I rode it as both Avalanche Run and Disaster Transport. I also rode SFOT's La Vibora back in the day when it was known as Avalanche.
  6. it's "wood" in support only. the track is steel. and if you're in the park, DO NOT miss Shockwave, don't miss Titan, or Runaway Mountain (indoor coaster), or Runaway Minetrain. actually, pretty much all the coasters at SFoT are good, except for maybe "Big Spin".. . ^This. Just make it a point to aim for ALL the coasters. Even though SFOT is my home park, I have admittedly never ridden Big Spin. I rode the one at SFStL once and that was enough for me. DO NOT be tentative about Texas Giant. As bert stated, it's wooden in structure only. The track is steel and is smooth as glass. It has got to be THE smoothest coaster I have ever ridden. Hands down the best ride in the park. Missing Big Spin would be no loss and if you've ridden any of the numerous Batman clones around the country, it wouldn't kill you to miss that, even though it is a good one, but you have to try for all the others. It may be wood, but Judge Roy Scream is a good, classic out-and-back woodie that is good fun. Mr. Freeze and its awesome launch is great. The Runaway Mine Train is the mine train that started them all, so if nothing else it's a piece of history, though a fun one. Shockwave is full of Anton goodness. Texas Giant is pure awesomeness to the Nth degree. Titan is the tallest coaster in the state with a great drop, a nice airtime hill and some killer g's in the helices. Runaway Mountain is hidden in the middle of the park and is easy to miss, but it's a fun lights-out ride in the dark. Though not super thrilling, La Vibora is a fun bobsled, but I would hit it early in the day as the line gets long in a hurry and the capacity is terrible, making for long wait times. Welcome to Texas and enjoy the ride!
  7. Gotcha. I guess I've never been in the station with people that small loaded up. I've never seen them actually use it. I just see them carrying it around. It makes sense now. Thanks.
  8. With the discussions lately in other threads of ride ops and the safety checks, I have always wondered, but never asked, what is up with the wood single wood block with the handle on it that the ride ops on Titan carry around?
  9. I was there yesterday. I honestly expected crowds to be much worse. It was chilly early in the day and the wind was sharp, but by mid afternoon it turned out to be pretty nice. My wife and I took our 2 year-old daughter for her first time, so for us, the day was really all about her and we spent most of our time on flat rides. We have raised a little daredevil and she was a hard one to please. While she said she enjoyed every ride we took her on, it really took a lot to crack a smile from her on a ride. Her favorite rides were easily the Conquistador and Sombrero. We sat on the second row from the end on the Conquistador and she had an absolute blast on it. There was a boy on there that was probably 4 or 5 sitting in the middle freaking out. We had to laugh when his mom was all, "Look at that little girl there with her hands up ready to go." Of the 2 coasters she can ride, she preferred the Mini Mine Train over the Canyon Blaster. As we worked our way back to the Texas section, we noticed that the line for Texas Giant wasn't bad, so we hopped in. My daughter fell asleep while we were in line, so the timing was great to give her a little nap. I rode first and when I got back to the station to do the hand-off, she had woken up and was wanting to ride it. I'm sure she'll love it when she gets the chance in a couple years. My wife and I both agreed that we needed that adrenaline kick it gave us. Giant was the only big coaster we took in, and I was fine with that. It was all about my daughter on this trip, but I wasn't going to leave the park without at least one ride on it. It was great to see the magic of a child's first visit to an amusement park and it was really a great day for it. Looney Tunes Land wasn't the madhouse we usually experience and the lines for the rides we were on were all pretty short. It was a fun, relaxing day. We left around 5:00 and headed for dinner at one of our favorite places in south Arlington and then hit the road to come home. Did anyone else notice these stickers added to the ride signs?
  10. According to RCDB, 4 opened in 1984 (3 currently operating). There are 2 in North America (La Ronde and Morey's Piers) 1 in Mexico and 1 in Belgium. http://rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&mo=8191&page=1&order=10
  11. I won a blue piece myself. The ride opened the year I was born and I grew up loving it. Both of my boys (10 and 6) have always loved the ride as well. If they would have just left it open one more year, my daughter could have had the chance to ride and I know she would have loved it. I never made it to SFOT this year. My last trip was during Fright Fest in 2011. We rode the Chute Out that evening before we left the park. I took some pics on the ride that evening. Little did I know it would be our last ride. I will forever miss the sound of the seats buzzing up and down the cables, but I will never forget it.
  12. I'm hoping to make it to Germany next year. My wife has family there and one of them is getting married next summer, so we're trying to gather the funds to go and spend a couple weeks. Since they're just up the road in Maiz, this will be a priority stop.
  13. I can and I would be enjoying the view hoping I had a camera handy.
  14. "If you know what this building used to be used for, you'll win... absolutely nothing. Sorry." Frontier Lift Station. Thank you. I'll take my prize in one lump sum.
  15. Why? I'm not fanatical about it, but I enjoy metal and I have plenty of serious metalhead friends...and we're all in Texas.
  16. what pixelated was replying to a Spam post that has since been deleted.
  17. I wish my daughter were about 2" taller so we could have gotten her on Chute Out. She would have loved it. Both of my boys did, as did myself and my wife. I will truly miss it. While the ride was fun, I'm also going to miss the buzzing sound it made as the chutes went up and down the cables. RIP Texas Chute Out. At the same time, I enjoy the StarFlyers and at 400', I think this one will be good fun with great views of the metroplex.
  18. I've been buying my passes online for the last decade or so and have always gotten the extended market discount on the site.
  19. That's generally the way it works just about every year. I lived in DFW in 2004, but still claimed my parents' address as my permanent address. Because of that I was still able to get the "non-local" discount on my passes.
  20. I've seen a couple Key Master comments.
  21. The Flashback rumor has been floating around here for a while now, and I've honestly not cared for it anyhow. I've ridden it maybe twice in all the years it's been there, so like most everyone else, it's no real loss. I wish Texas Chute Out's demise could at least be put off for another season. My daughter is 2 and not quite tall enough this year, but we were planning on taking her next year and I'm certain she would LOVE that ride. Both my boys love it and it would be nice for her to be able to experience a classic that I grew up with. It sucks, but it's the nature of the business. Good-bye (good riddance?) Flashback. RIP Texas Chute Out. I just hope we get something worthy to replace them.
  22. It USED to be like that. Now it's just up at the front of the park on a slab like any other swing ride. I was just there last month.
