  1. ^Not exactly. Industry operations have drastically changed since then. There was no need for additional brakes to stack because stacking was rare. They could efficiently run 3-train coasters without setting up. Then came air gates, seatbelts, physical checks of safety restraints instead of visual checks, loose article bins... Arrow didn't design many of their coasters with extra brakes because it just wasn't necessary. You could get a train out in 20 seconds easily. Gemini was made to run 6 trains total with an astronomically high capacity of over 3,000 an hour (rumored to be 4,000, however. It hasn't ran 6 in a long time), but it could do it without setting up.
  2. ^The days around 4th of July will be pretty packed, especially since it falls on a Monday, making the weekend crowds even larger. Saturday-Monday will probably be the busiest. They rarely sell out but if they do, it's generally on Saturdays in July/August and October. Prices have been known to increase for busy days and throughout the season.
  3. There's a difference between not supporting the same thing as someone else and actively trying to ensure that someone lives a life that is disadvantaged and not guaranteed equal protections under the law. So Chick-Fil-A is the only problem here, unless you're trying to count your problem of attempting to get this thread "back to Valravn" to avoid a subject that might make you uncomfortable, which didn't even work. I've never been a fan of Chick-Fil-A myself, but I can't say that I never popped in for the occasional milkshake on a hot day especially. I'd love to see the building become something like Midway Market, but more of a western style cuisine.
  4. ^Valravn will be open. CP and B&M build their rides on time. And don't get FL. It won't be busy that day, guaranteed. And even if it was, you can buy it then and there at the park at any time throughout the day because it will NOT sell out.
  5. FastLane on a weekday isn't needed usually except in late July/early August. But not always. Just start at the back of the park and work your way forward. It's absolutely possible to ride everything in one day if you have a plan.
  6. Whether or not you consider it "new," Rougarou was a fairly sizable investment too. It might seem like it's "just Mantis with floorless trains" but there really was a ton of work that went into getting that ride open. Since Cedar Point counts Pipe Scream as a coaster, there's technically been a new coaster every year since 2013... GateKeeper 2013, Pipe Scream 2014, Rougarou 2015, Valravn 2016.
  7. ^It will be the parks 150th anniversary.
  8. Notice how I never said anything about them stopping construction just because of snow, but because of the wind when there's snow: It's pretty apparent that no one here is familiar with lake erie weather in the winter. It's damn near miserable sometimes. I'm also not quite getting the criticism because you know that it's going to open on time... It's a B&M and it's at Cedar Point. They've planned for this.
  9. ^Winds on Lake Erie are really bad, especially this time of year. And Cedar Point is on a peninsula on Lake Erie. Let's not forget that when you're working high in the air (like Valravn will be), the winds are extremely dangerous. I grew up in the midwest but I've never been in a place as windy as northern Ohio. Once it starts snowing, there are definitely days where they won't work. The wind creating drifting snow across the causeway is damn near deadly. You can't see anything at all.
  10. ^I imagine it would be the same as TC. Hell, Maverick at CP can even duel! You just have to dispatch trains at a very specific time. So it wouldn't happen all the time, but definitely would happen sometimes.
  11. 1) Magnum XL-200 2) Maverick 3) Top Thrill Dragster 4) GateKeeper 5) Rougarou (Everyone needs to stop assuming that because it's floorless, it's the best in the front row. It's rougher up there anyways since there isn't a zero-car like Mantis had. The back right is the BEST seat on the whole train. I've ridden it hundreds of times and THAT is the best seat on the ride hands down and it is intense) 6) Raptor 7) Millennium Force 8) Gemini 9) Blue Streak 10) Wicked Twister 11) Mean Streak 12) Iron Dragon 13) Woodstock Express 14) Mine Ride 15) Wilderness Run 16) Corkscrew
  12. I don't see how the block brake affects the ride experience at all. It's literally only there for CAPACITY. It's not there as a point in the ride for the riders to say "Oh we're halfway through the course, time for something else!" That's not what it is.... Take Banshee for example. It has its block brake at the VERY end of the ride, but I have yet to see anyone here post how Banshee is terrible after the "MCBR" because there's just more brakes afterward. If GateKeeper didn't have a block brake, would anyone still complain about the helix? And the block brake isn't pointless. GateKeeper can get over 1800 riders an hour. It is an extremely fast paced ride to operate. When dispatching at interval, a train will be only feet away from setting up at the top of the lift because the train ahead hasn't cleared the block brake yet. That block brake is far from pointless. It's NOT there to make the ride more exciting. It is ONLY there to make the ride more efficient.
  13. It's a trick-or-treating event for local kids.
  14. Maverick can't dispatch trains when the previous train has cleared the top of the lift.... The train ahead wouldn't have even made it to the tunnel yet since the lift is so fast.
  15. It does! I used it when I was there last week. Unfortunately, it was filled with groups of teenagers rather than single riders.
  16. Longer the line, the more people that would buy flash passes CP does everything to maximize capacity and has some of the best operations out there because it pulls in huge crowds. CP does not intentionally create a long line. That's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen on this forum.
  17. ^Best deals are right here: https://www.cedarpoint.com/ticket-category/Daily-Tickets#
  18. I went ahead and shared this post with the RougaCrew so Ski (and everyone else) could see it Glad you had a great time, and thanks for the kind words about the park/ride operations team as a whole
  19. Rougarou has yet to have a line during early entry As for wait times, it is correct that it is generally less than 30 minutes. Average is 10-15. The line moves very, very quickly though so don't be discouraged if you get in line and see a ton of people ahead of you.
  20. Side note. I loved the sales in a few shops. I got 3 great shirts for $15 and a hoodie for $13.
  21. I visited the park today and while I want to return, it will NOT be on a weekend!!! Went straight to voyage at park opening and waited 45 minutes. Went to thunderbird next and waited about an hour. The legend was at 30 minutes. Went to splashin Safari around 4 pm and waited an hour for mammoth, 30 for wildebeest, 30 for zoombabwe, 15 for zinga. Voyage was breaking down a lot and had a significant downtime in the evening and reopened with one train..... That line was ridiculous. Around 8:00, thunderbird still had almost an hour line. I cant say I didn't have fun, but the crowds definitely put a damper on the day, especially since the lines just didn't get shorter at all.
