  1. You're completely right. That concrete slab wasn't there before. I'm not sure if I'm headed there next week, but if I do go I'll get some newer pictures.
  2. I can't imagine a Simpson's ride ever being done, let alone being well done. Honestly, why can't they keep a classic? (For lack of better words)
  3. Considering they just started building this lift last Thursday, they worked extremely fast. I'm taking an educated guess here and saying that this lift is now connected to the helix before the main lift hill. Would this mean that only the station is left to be built? I wonder if the ride's queue will go throughout the structure? That'd be awesome.
  4. That sounds a lot like the building that was covering a giant version of one of those stupid claw games the last two times I was there. Is this thing you described a new structure, or did they take the claw game out? The crane machine is still there, this is a different structure. Turns out it is the small lift hill out of the station. The bottom structure underneath of the lift hill is log-cabin like, it seems.
  5. I really do love the different colours of Maverick's trains, thanks for the pictures!
  6. Flying Turns pictures 31/05/2007 We were told by a construction worker some fun trivia. Q. How many screws does it take to make a Flying Turns? A. 500,000 Q. How much does each of those screws cost? A. $0.06 Q. How much does Flying Turns cost in screws alone? A. $30,000 (That's a lot of screwing around!) And the completed last turn. Bottom of the lift hill. (I see electrical boxes) Footers, by the way. I'm jealous of their T-shirts that read "Flying Turns construction crew". Just because. It's really big. "The place next to the amusement park, duh." "I wonder who's supplying the wood?" I wanted to ask for a screw, didn't. Close up of last picture. Overall view from Twister's "backed up" line, even though it's never been that long of a queue. *gasp* Thank you kind construction workers! Lalala. Screws, lots of them. We couldn't get any closer to this today. They salvaged a piece of a support from Chicago but couldn't think of bringing home a deep-dish? Nerdy shot? The 3rd and last lift hill is complete, minus the chain of course. Awww...I wanted to screw it first. Oh that's hot. Close up of that last picture. I see footers.
  7. Here's a few shots from today's little gallivant to Knoebel's. Flying Turns pictures next post. And with taking this picture, the ride op said it again. "Stay behind the yellow line!" The Phoenix is still running extremely smooth, though it's difficult to tell being out of your seat more than half the ride. Lift hill enthusiasts take note. Oh, the Phoenix! Burger named after coaster = win. What other coaster is here? A little smoother than last Friday, but... Nah, it's still a really rough ride. Photogenic shot of non-photogenic material. For those of you who noticed that the dam was down in the creek: It's back up. Obligatory shot of Knoebel's entrance sign. Starting the day off with a 20oz Moxie which, in retrospect, wasn't such a good idea.
  8. Well the footers for the station are in as of today, 31/05/2007. I just arrived back home from spending a good 7 hours down at Knoebel's. I'll upload some pictures of Flying Turns and other random shots once I find my camera. As for a "readable" update on construction work... The station footers are in. The first helix is being worked on like mad, as in they've nearly completed placing the first layer of wood on the trough since last Friday. On the top of the third lift hill they are nearing completion of the last turn into the station. The first structure for the station was being worked on today: It's right behind Looper, easily seen from riding it. It looks "log-cabin" style. EDIT: See this post.
  9. It's a really ironic situation: They wanted people to avoid injury by evacuating the ride when in turn they ended up getting hurt.
  10. It looks like a really smooth ride but I don't see the spinning I first imagined it would have.
  11. Twister is running quite rough, but not nearly as bad as last year. I still walked off of it with the same "did I just get a back massage?" feeling.
  12. There's really no need for captions on these pictures, so without further ado, I give you Flying Turns...construction pictures. Here's the last shot, which is a nerdy one of sorts. There's a lot of nails coming out from the opposite side of the troughs, I wonder what they'll do? Am I the only person who feels "slightly" turned on from this shot? Hot. They were working on a small lift back into the station which is right after a small trough after the brake run. (Say that ten times fast.) Oh come on, it can't be that big, can it? I hope they don't use this piece. Oh, never mind. Joke's up, someone tell me what's going on?! No seriously, why? Why is this wood laying around?
  13. Today, well actually yesterday, was my friend's 16th birthday. Of course we had to celebrate so her dad offered to take us to Knoebels for the day. To start: Happy 16th birthday Sadie! We left our homes around 12:30 and got to the park around 2:00 because of traffic, but that didn't slow us down. Upon entry to the park we received our handstamps and went off to the rides. First ride of the day was Looper, which is still pretty intense if you flip a lot. Our second ride was the Cosmotron in which we had the song "Bye Bye Bye" play, very enjoyable. The third ride was the Phoenix. We rode it once and found it extremely smooth, so of course we were going back for some more airtime later. We then did Gasoline Alley and Fandango. Overall we did most of the major rides: Phoenix, Twister, Cosmotron, The Flume, Fandango, Gasoline Alley, Scooters, The Grand Carousel, The Haunted Mansion (I'm still a wuss about this ride), and a few others. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the trip report. OH! Almost forgot: I'm headed back to Knoebels on Thursday of this week. If anyone wants any updates on anything at Knoebels, let me know. I'll try to snap some pictures/get some information. I'll end this PTR with this picture of a sign on our ride home. Flying Turns pictures next post! I'm happy to report that the destroyed Carousel from the flood is working. the Italian Trapeze weren't. These dudes were there all day checking the chains: Did something happen? Flyers were running, but.. Who drew the DAFE logo on the covered bridge? "You must be this tall to get Gelati" $3.75 I'm still a wuss about entering this attraction. You can't tell, but it's soaked. The ride op told me I wouldn't get wet, that I should take my camera bag with me. Obligatory picture of the Phoenix Gasoline Alley POV A different perspective of the Phoenix from Gasoline Alley's track. I'm sure there's some nerd out there who will enjoy this picture. People enjoying the Phoenix. A little different view of the Phoenix's station. I had one of the smoothest rides ever on the Cosmotron today. Ferris Wheel : THROUGH THE TREES. A few clouds out, pretty nice day although extremely warm.
  14. Even Dollywood has a Disko, so why can't Knoebels get one? Good report, thanks for sharing!
  15. That's quite possibly the most beautiful park I've ever seen a TR on. Amazing report!
  16. At any Disney park, it's experiencing the queues. If it's Knoebels, then it has to be food, even on the rides sometimes . Mostly any other park would involve taking pictures.
  17. My addiction to cola beverages.
  18. Well that is the Orlando Universal, which is close to Disney. I'd assume Disney would do the same thing, which would make Universal follow suit, with the high expectations of people visiting the Orlando area. It probably was the right thing to do until the source of the missing bolt was found.
  19. This is the ride, correct?- http://www.saharavegas.com/NASCAR/SPEED-facts/ How does it even stall? That's coming back into the station at a pretty decent speed.
  20. I understand where you're coming from completely, Robb. Thanks for the post, because I've seen some really annoying posts lately, not to say that mine couldn't have been the problem at one point. You stated about searching for a thread, instead of making a new thread. This is a huge problem on another forum I am a member of, and since it's packed with children and teens, nothing can really be done. Kids want answers fast, not having to run a search and actually find something for themselves, which amounts to the pointless threads that could have been found by searching. I'll admit, I started a thread (yesterday I think) asking for good video editing programs. Since I'm new an average poster here, more of a lurker, I didn't think to search. I feel like such a newbie now. I wonder if there's a way, when starting a thread, to have a pop-up window come up asking "Did you search to see if this topic already exists?"? Who knows, I'm not familiar with this kind of forum, VB are my specialty. ~Bret "still considered a kid" Taggart
  21. I purchased a Sony DCR-DVD 105 Handycam last year in the fall. I had no real use for it back then, but am starting to find use for it now. I intend to use it during our Disney vacation this year. I was wondering, however, what editing program I should use to make videos. The program that came with it (Nero) isn't that great, and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a beginner in the camcorder field. Thanks!
  22. Epic shots! You said you just got one of the rolls back, does that mean there's more?! Post them when you can, these are amazing.
  23. - Very simple to understand, much easier than the current page. - Yes, the font is too small. Maybe upping it a point or so will make it less eye-straining - No problems on Windows XP running FF or IE
  24. I'll second that. Your second version of the new home page looks better with the search button on top. That, and everything else is more centered.
