  1. So was it TPS that was used to make this? If that's the case, I'm even more excited now for it to come out! It was not a game. It is 3D Studio Max. Done by the same person who did Gatekeeper and all of the *GOOD* park animations for the past decade or so.
  2. No, it is not... 3D Studio Max, actually. Trust me...
  3. I like Montu and all, but the second half basically sucks... This looks much stronger to me, personally. I actually like Silver Bullet better than Montu, so what do I know...
  4. Maybe the fact they show "Kings Island" on them and the topography and other attractions are shown?
  5. Wow, people STILL think those were fake? You don't waste the time and money for drafters and engineers just to prank enthusiasts... Sorry. Do you have any idea how long it takes to make drawings THAT detailed? You just can't put those together overnight. When we make drawings like that, it can take WEEKS.
  6. TTD is a much better ride than Ka... I have ridden Ka a few times the past few years and it is never as good as Dragster. First, the launch is better on TTD. Hard to explain, but Ka feels like it is changing gears as you launch. Getting progressively more powerful if that makes sense... Although it felt less this year than past times I have ridden it. Dragster is much more powerful in a shorter period of time. Dragster IMO feels faster because of this. Secondly, lapbars vs. OTSR's. Lapbars win. Lastly, Ka has always been very vibrationy and rough... Dragster is usually maintained much better. While I prefer the Ka theming and such over Dragster, between the two, Dragster wins for me. Also note, better view on Dragster. I also prefer Storm Runner over Ka and maybe Xcelerator, although that one is tough. I was not all that impressed with Xcelerator.
  7. I call decoy. Why would they send silver combs with hair in them to media, when that is exactly key attributes to banshee's in mythology? Has nothing at all to do with a Bat. I think the park is just stirring up enthusiasts for fun. Three days ahead, they would probably have that website done with by now for the launch and not so "rough".
  8. Some pics from Kennywood this past weekend! All the photos from that set can be found here: 5D3_5474.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5685.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5777.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5801.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5824.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5830.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5498.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5547.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5566.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5574.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5587.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5633.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr 5D3_5667.jpg by invertalon, on Flickr
  9. After watching the video and carefully viewing everything... Looks like a twisted dive followed by a banked turn (low to the ground?) that goes into the immelmann... Out of that into the loop and g-roll... Turn to the left (another low to the ground?) into the batwing element... After into another loop followed by a sharp turn to the right which leads into a drawn out g-roll of some sort, maybe like that odd-looking one in Europe (can't remember name) into another helix, bunny hop, turn right into brakes. Looks like invert to me, clearly. The heart-lining of the g-roll on the prints and supports make sense. Working in a consulting engineering office and seeing plenty of prints in regards to structural and commercial, those are legit. No question. Really looking forward to this one.. *drool*
  10. Without the Beach Club and restaurant you really have almost nothing left at the park... Especially since the ballroom burned down years ago. The place thrived off the beach club, ballroom and hotel in its prime... Without those, not sure if it has a chance.
  11. Ahhh, that explains it! I have been there a few times, but not nearly enough to remember key details like that! haha I am going Friday though, hopefully a nice day there.
  12. Not speed... Wouldn't that go to Volcano? 70mph vs. 67mph... I guess Alpengeist wins if you are talking about lift-only full circuit.
  13. I really like this shot! May I ask the story behind it? What caused the water around the carousel horse? I have been to KW a few times, but for the life of remember cannot remember a place this would happen!
  14. 15. I am 6'6" and the only ride I ever was unable to ride due to height was the intamin ball coaster at SFMM. A few weeks ago I was almost turned away on Wicked Twisted at CP and was height checked at Darien Lakes Ride of Steel. That is all I ever rememeber though. PTC's are terrible for tall people, as well as some Intamin trains (Dragster and Xcelerator), mostly due to my size 15 shoe... Tend to get my feet stuck in those trains lol
  16. I am also not a big fan of the movie franchise stuff they draw so much from. I think some of the best years and houses were the ones that they came up with themselves. I went to a few years straight of HHN... I think from 2004 to around 2008 or 2009 maybe... I think whatever the year with the SAW house was. After that, we stopped going every year. HHN is still a spectacular event, but they need to lay off the movie stuff for me to be interested in going... Walking Dead is nothing but zombies which is probably the most boring thing you can do at any event (And this is coming from a big fan of the show). I would love for them to go back to having a custom made icon and nothing but original houses and more impressive scare zones again... Some of my favorite houses were Dead Exposure, Body Collectors, Terror Mines, Home For the Holidays... Not many of the licensed houses did I care for, although SAW was pretty good. I get that Universal is a movie park and all that, but I just think when the designers are not confined to specific scenes and what they can and cannot do and all that, they make a better product.
  17. I agree completely. Sure, the NTAG accident was worse but the STR accident had the potential to be MUCH worse. If that boat did flip 180* into the water, I bet almost a majority would have lost their lives if it took a few minutes to flip the boat back over. It appears it only went sideways, especially given the limited injuries. (Thankfully).
  18. It is very difficult for me to pick out top rides anymore. I have a few standouts that I can name off the top of my head (in no certain order) but the rest either fall into "good" or "bad" honestly.
  19. Me and a buddy have done "races" taking the two routes into the park, going approximately the speed limits posted (the main causeway entrance and the scenic route) and it really just comes down to how many lights you get on the main route... It really is a wash though... Sometimes I won, other times he did. I never had much of a line into the toll booths the main way, and sometimes the back entrance is worse since only one booth. I have been 8-10 cars deep in line at that gate where the main one had a few 2-3 cars, if that. Never, ever leave that way though on a busy night. The intersection back onto the main road is a nightmare!
  20. Looks like CP may ditch Tofts ice cream... According to the new blog they are teasing something "since 1870"... After a little search, Graeters Ice Cream started in 1870 and is quite local to CP.
  21. Awesome! I grew up at this place... The POV views of corkscrew are like dejavu... Thanks for sharing!
  22. We keep planning on getting back to Holiday World but have been waiting for Voyage to get the new trains first. A little extra motivation to make the drive! I agree with you on Legend... I have always liked the ride but it is not a top 10 coaster for me at all. I prefer Raven between the two for sure. Legend is an excellent ride though, but I hate PTC trains so I am looking forward to those new ones! Nice TR, glad you had a good time!
